Fan Fiction Addicts: Introduce yourself here

I know we have Introduce yourself all over the place but a lot never go outside this forum.  They will miss your introduction.   So this topic has been created just for you here.  Old member or new member, feel free to introduce yourself.  Tell a bit about yourself.  If you need ideas: how you found fan fiction, what fan fictions you like, who your favorite authors are, if you write any fan fictions yourself.  And don't worry about just saying "Hi, I'm here."  That's just fine too.

And I'll start.

I do read fan fiction.  I started way back with Due South and Voyager [ok so it was more Voyager slash C/P]

I also enjoyed Brimstone and some of the older tv shows like Big Valley and Simon & Simon.  The very first fan fiction I ran into was when I was in high school.  Someone wrote a story about  Alias Smith and Jones and our English teacher read it to us because it was so well written.

I guess I can say I wrote fan fiction because that story had me writing Alias Smith and Jones stories.

I'm not familiar with Twilight be it the books, movies or fan fictions so that is why I'm not very involved right now here.

Hi everyone!  :)

I think I may have introduced myself way back when in a different section, but oh well, hi again!  ;D

I love fanfiction. I read several different fandoms, and I'm always up for more. I think I read just as many fanfics as I do published works. I like non-canon and uncommon couples mostly.

I think everyone knows me in the fanfic section, but why not?

Hi, I'm a twific addict. I'll read most pairings, even slash. I'm particularly partial to a good Jasper/Bella story, but I've also liked some Peter ones, and now I'm reading Jake.

I haven't ventured too far out of twific yet. I've read a few Black Dagger Brotherhood fics, because Ward didn't give me my Butch/V! And I've picked up a few HP and Mortal Instruments fics, but haven't read them yet. I don't mention those much around here though, cause this seems to be a very Twi-heavy group!

Not that twific isn't awesome (it totally is. I'm a fan  :)), but since this is fanfict alley I think we need just a bit more diversity. You should totally rec some of your HP and BDB fic faves (any pairing), because I totally agree with you about JRW dropping the ball with with her slash (and potential slash  ;D) couples. I've never been so disappointed with a book than I was with LaL. LOL

I have a Slash Rec thread that welcomes all pairings You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I think we have a BDB thread somewhere with recs, I'll hunt it up. It's tough to find good ones, cause Ward is anti-fic.

Well if I was writing Smith and Jones fan fics in High School that sort of tells you how old I am

Hey!  I'm old, too ;)  I started reading fanfic almost 20 years ago with X-Files, which I also wrote a bit for and beta'd a whole lot for :).

I'm currently hooked on twific, although I'm not a huge fan of Edward and Bella.  I read all other pairings although I haven't ventured into too many fics involving the pack yet.

Jasper/Bella and slash pairings are probably my favourite.  I keep saying I should check out Avengers slash, but there's so much on my TBR, I don't know if I'll ever make it there.  I'm sure I would if someone had a good rec for me though.  LOL
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

Hey there !

I'm not that old, and I'll always be curious about fanfic but never read any. So if you want to try to convert me, I'm a willing candidate ! But it'll have to be a great rec !  :D
Chippy wrote something about X-files. The real books actually gave me my passion for archaeology ! Si senor.
I don't think I even ventured to fanfic alley, so this is a first...
I like twilight, the books, not fan of thee movie, but will have to google up Allias Smith and Jones ! (  :( sorry)

See you around !

Seriously tho... what are your favorite TV shows?
Example Criminal Minds.   And do you do slash [of course you do slash if you do MM]

C/P Slash from Voyager STar Trek You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
[note the links might be old.  That fandom has been around the block more times than a 57 Chevy]

I love Criminal Minds, but I generally pair myself with Spencer Reid, I love them geeky boys.

Nah.. Morgan.  I just can't figure out who to slash him with.   He's the only one who is slashable which might be why they took the story line of abuse for him in canon.

NOW HAWAII 5-0?  WE ALL know who is slashable in that.   :D  I told the niece, they are freakin married.  They only have the women around for sex.

I don't really watch TV. I discovered The Glades and Hawaii 5-0 only last week. I liked both.
I watch Bones (didn't like the last season) and NCIS.

Is fanfiction only about new stories of shows/books-8406 existing, or is it more about new relationships/interaction between those characters ?

And I do not stalk.
I found some B****y's and tought I'd share. Is all.

Fanfiction is a whole different world.
It is based on a show but you can have
Canon stories [stories which follow the plot of the show]
Non Canon [stories which go off and do stuff or create a history that is NOT in the show's plot]
and Slash [homosexual pairing not in the plot]

Lets do Bluestone 42 since I know you know the show well.
Canon would be one of Nick's buddies get killed and he talks to the padre about his feelings and attempts to sleep with her again.

Non Canon is Nick is put in charge of the base and promoted or promoting him and transferring him to American in the Embassy.

Slash is Mac and Rocket are having an affair.  [which is a very scary thought]

In Non Canon you can have a crossover like say Jim Longworth is on a plane that crashes in Afghanistan and Nick has to rescue him.  You can then slash it by having Nick and Jim sleep together [ie the Swedish reporter style] so it becomes Crossover Slash

Does that help?

It does !

It didn't really understand when people talk about it, so maybe that's why I never read any.
It really seems interesting. I'll have a go at it.

Mac and Rocket ?   :-\   Too much, hey ?

Thank you Philo.

Fanfiction.net is pretty good for general to mature (mature really isn't supposed to be explicit there but many people don't follow the rules, and thus get their stories pulled). Archiveofourown.org is good for all ratings even up to explicit (this site also allows for downloads by way of some very helpful buttons, which eliminates the need for flagfic.com. Some stories have also been podcasted over there as well if you would rather listen.)

I generally find all the good fanfic sites (especially those that have slash  ;D).
