Thanks - that is extremely odd. I've just tested it with that story, and it worked perfectly. The title and author were correct, and the website story was downloaded.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the FicLab popup on that story page immediately before clicking the "download" button?

Sorry I can get the screen shot but cannot paste it here, nor can I attach a copy

Gotcha. I thought that posting images was possible here - but no worries if not. If you send me a message via the contact form You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, I'll reply by email and then you can just email the screenshot to me as an attachment.

I can also send you the local output for that story as a comparison.

I tried the image thing was that was not happening either.  I have your contact page open but when I paste the screen shot all that comes out is e352508f-1b1b-4968-983b-b344c3797e32  Sorry about all this.  I can open my laptop and update that that is about the extent of my knowledge.

You can't paste the screenshot there. I'm just suggesting that you send me a message there so that we can begin an email conversation. I don't wish to post my email address on a web forum (that's a great way to be spammed), and I doubt you do either. The message content doesn't particularly matter.

I can confirm that FicLab is currently working OK, and still able to download from ffnet / fictionpress.

Rinoa1799 (re above suggestion): FicLab is a browser extension - it won't run on the iOS mobile devices that you have. If you have an Android device though, while I don't officially support Android, it's possible to load the extension in Kiwi Browser, and that generally works fine.

Ffnet is making some big changes to their infrastructure currently, including migrating at least some of their stuff onto Cloudflare. As a result, many downloaders will be affected, and anything that uses a central server to fetch things is most likely to be either severely limited or completely out of luck.

FicLab uses the client browser to download chapters, so it should be OK with these changes. I do recommend you download one story at a time though. If you experience a "fetch error", just refresh the page - Cloudflare may ask you to complete a CAPTCHA (should not be more often than once in 24 hours). If this doesn't sort it, please send me a message via the contact form on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.

Please note also that ffnet's latest shenanigans affected FicLab's ability to grab cover images. I've implemented a workaround in v0.6.58, which is live for Firefox as of a few minutes ago, and will be live for Chrome as soon as Google finishes reviewing it is now also live for Chrome.
Thanks for you reply. Because it won’t work on my iOS Devices looks like I’m having to do with the old fashion way at least I can still change each chapter into a PDF file.

Calibre is down so Im assuming all the downloaders are since I went to the forum to see about a fix. Someone said Fictiondownloader is havivng issues. So whatever it is its on FFN end so we shall see it may be the end of downloaders if this keeps going

They are trying to find a fix but FF.Net seems to be determined to stop anyone from reading an Fanfiction ebook .  I had been using Fanfiction Reader but that is not working now either.  FF.net really is a ginormous pain.

So I downloaded the fanficdownloader program because it still works with ff.net, and I saw that they included a folder for Calibre. Does anyone know if this program will add your downloaded story to Calibre for you, or do we have to add it ourselves? If the program will add it, how do I set that up?
So, just ran the ffdl and my Norton popped up and told me that fanficdownloader was trying to access my webcam! Thankfully I was able to block it, what out for that everyone!

@FictionPress issued the following tweet earlier today.
"We are currently doing physical server migration. Lots of work to be done and we will do our best to minimize service interruption. We will post update if we expect any migration to cause interruptions.

Entire migration will take ~10 days to complete."

However the wonderful JimmXinu/FanFicFare has issued a new update for FFF which hopefully work

Since ffn is moving their server, more than likely any downloader program is going to have problems.  Be patient for 1-2 weeks while ffn finishes up their maintenance work and the downloading programs have a chance to realign.

I have just used it and it still works but I have to add the author and title myself, I also have to add the file extension ie  .mobi  or .epub depending on what you want.  Good luck.

Still working, but if you're getting a 503, refresh the page - it most likely means there is a Cloudflare challenge / CAPTCHA page you'll need to deal with before it can continue. Then, just start the download again.

Ideally, you shouldn't be hitting those limits at all - I will change the provisioning settings to slow FicLab down a bit, which will hopefully mean you won't see that issue as often. That will take a few hours to roll out. I also have a major update coming out in the next few weeks that will improve things further, and automatically adjust the rate rather than just giving you an error when it encounters this condition.

If you do run into this kind of thing, it's definitely worth letting me know so that I can tweak things, as ffnet is changing a lot recently, and it behaves differently depending on which ISP you're connecting from.

If the file isn't being named properly, this means there is something else on your system which is interfering with it and stripping off the filename that FicLab has provided. Some antivirus plugins are known to do this (Avast, for example).
