Which type of files are these, and where did they originate from? If they are FicLab or FLAG files, then provided they are in an ebook format (ePub, Kindle, etc) they should already contain all the metadata Calibre needs (with the exception of custom metadata, or if you have edited it after importing but have not modified the original file to match).

If they are in a format that does not support much metadata (e.g. PDF) then some details will be missing, as they simply aren't contained in the original file. The same goes for if you obtained proper ebook filetypes from a source that does not set the metadata properly.

If the metadata isn't available in the original files, it may be possible to retrieve it from your old library. Do you have a backup of the metadata.db file from your old library?

Thank you for info. I was able to figure out a way to restore everything.

That is wonderful to hear, albeit unexpected - I was not aware that iOS Safari supported Chrome extensions.

Would you mind expanding a bit on how you managed to achieve this?

Aaah, I think there may have been a typo then. FicLab and FicHub are completely different pieces of software :).

Is there a program that would allow the option to download multiple fanfics with the front cover image in epub format?

None that I am aware of, but it's entirely possible that one may exist somewhere.

In the meantime, I did find You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login - I have not used it before, but it looks like it might be a useful workaround for you (i.e. download the stories separately, then use this Calibre plugin to merge them into a single file).

The problems never seem to end. I use FanFicFare in Calibre for downloading stories. Unfortunately I just realized that when I had to rebuild everything I must have done something wrong. The problem is that the meta data updates but when you open the epub the chapters that it said it downloaded aren't there. However if I remove the story and download it as a new story everything comes through. I have tried uninstalling Fanficfare and reinstalling it, and updating to the newest test version and the newest calibre, but the problem persists. I am running out of things to try to fix this. Anyone have any other ideas that I can try?

I am thinking that maybe my custom columns aren't configured correctly.

Problem solved.

There are a number of options, depending on which site you are downloading from, and what your requirements are as to the output.

Provided you are downloading from one of the supported sites, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is a browser plugin that can do this, and will work fine on a Chromebook.

Which downloaders are you having trouble with?

I have just tested FicLab, and can confirm that it still appears to be working correctly.

I used Fanfictiondownloader without problems until recently.. first in the middle of DL I needed to click on bus or boats to prouve I’m not a bot and DL finished without more problems

Yesterday it’s DL short stories but all stories with more than maybe 20 chapters are incomplete.... first part is ok but then the reste of chapters are empty

Fichub don’t DL last chapters say story is in progrès even when the story is complete

Didn’t try FicLab

I've been using FicLab.  On the longer stories, I might have to try downloading a couple of times before it works, refreshing the page each time, but once it works it downloads the whole story (at least the ones I've spot checked).

This sounds like it's struggling with Cloudflare's recent changes. 20 requests is the initial burst limit for story pages. I've passed your message on to the FFDL developer.

FicHub uses cached data to fulfil a lot of its requests. It's likely that this is what you are encountering here, and it's simply that the copy of the story FicHub has available is stale.

Would you be willing to email me, or PM, to troubleshoot this? You should never need to refresh the page. FicLab should handle any shenanigans with Cloudflare automatically, unless you have some other extension or setting that is preventing it from doing so.
