Thanks, Steve.  I've sent you a PM.  Hopefully, it has enough detail for you.
Yep, that was perfect! 😁

This sounds like it's struggling with Cloudflare's recent changes. 20 requests is the initial burst limit for story pages. I've passed your message on to the FFDL developer.
FicHub uses cached data to fulfil a lot of its requests. It's likely that this is what you are encountering here, and it's simply that the copy of the story FicHub has available is stale.

Yeah I was guessing something like this since they have Cloudflare it's a lot of a mess

Installed ficlab on Mozilla and it's work ... it's not fast but at last I have all story in pdf

Thanks

Does anyone else use FanFiction Downloader.net to make pdf's from stories on line? I just recently used it and for the first time it's not working right for me. I have the 9.4 version. When I open the pdf of the fic I've downloaded the last few chapters have their heading but no text. I have a laptop with Windows. Any recommendations? I save everything into pdf format. :'(

Don't know if it will be the same, but I fixed the issues I was having with ficlab by allowing pop-up ads on ffn.  My ficlab speed went back to normal and the program is no longer having rejection issues.

For clarity, FicLab never displays advertising. The popup mechanism is used to open a new tab to solve Cloudflare's automated challenge on ffnet story pages. Once Cloudflare is dealt with, the extra tab will automatically close again.

From time to time. 😉. My timezone is different to most of FicLab's users - it's 7:15am here currently.

NONE of this worked for me and now I cannot even delete fics that I use Fanficdownloader for. It tells me that I cannot delete them because the accounts are open up in the cloud. Until I "close" the cloud, I cannot delete them.  I'm devastated. Is this the end of downloading fic's on Perusing the Shelves? Really, idk. There was a poster who kept coming back about Penalty Shot by Edward'sEternal. She actually PM'd me. Those links were totally working for me. However, now what I'm experiencing is exactly what she was describing. Up to C16, was all she could read when she downloaded the link. Now I understand. It's the same with this stupid CLoud. I'm sure someone is getting their jollies out of the small crowd who love fanfiction works. Some squecky wheel is the one who changed all of this. I'm just plain done with it. I find it beyond manipulating but disgusting.

Is your browser up to date?  I just opened up Penalty Shot from PTS and could see all of the chapters.  I'm sorry I can't help more than that.  I don't use Fanficdownloader, but maybe someone who does have some ideas on what could be amiss.  I think jklly12 uses it.  Try pming her.

Yes, my browser is up-to-date. I uninstalled FanFictionDownloader completely. I'm going to sit here on the sidelines and see what new developments come. I am beyond pissed about this. Yes, I can ALSO view the COMPLETE copy of Penalty Shot but this poster COULD NOT when she clicked on the link. I fear that I know what FF.net has done. However, I know you are WAY more savvy than me. I''m beyond pissed. I hope others will get to the bottom of this and that other sites will update their wares. Sorry, that I'm venting. I LOVE TwiFic, and this site. I would truly HATE for this part of the fandom to end. I told this poster that the fault was on her end: however, after all that has transpired lately, I'm wondering if what she was experiencing was a precursor to what I am now experiencing with downloading fic's from FF.net. *shrugs*

That is because the actions being discussed relate to FicLab, not to FFDL. You are using FFDL. They are completely separate tools, and have nothing whatsoever to do with each other - the only similarity is that they are both intended to download fanfic and turn it into ebook files.

The developer of FFDL (Raimond) is aware of the issue, and trying to find a workaround for it. The problem with FFDL relates to passing CloudFlare validation for the build-in QT browser, and it's giving him a bit of grief trying to find a solution.

No. While FFDL is having issues, it's not the only available tool. You can continue to download fics using a different tool in the meantime. I can confirm that FicLab still works, as do a number of other tools.

If you have any issues with FicLab, you are welcome to contact me for assistance; I am FicLab's sole developer. If it breaks, you have my word I will do my best to rectify any issues rapidly - although for what it's worth, FicLab has proven to be quite robust in the face of what ffnet has been doing with Cloudflare, and has continued to work throughout (albeit a bit more slowly these days to work around the restrictions).

I downloaded a Twific (wanting to convert it to a PDF) by using FFDL(4.3). It only has partial text. So I right-clicked the file and tried to delete the file (Windows 10). A command box pops up which says - File In Use - The action can't be completed because the file is open in Command Line interface to the conversion/news download system. - Close the file and try again. - Two tabs below - Try Again/Cancel. I do not know what that even means. I cannot even delete this incomplete, fic file from my system now.

This means that a part of FFDL is stuck, and is still running, with that file open. Windows cannot delete files that are open.

To fix this, you can either use the task manager to kill off whatever part of FFDL is still running, or you can reboot your computer. Either will work. Once that step is completed, you will be able to delete the file.

Anyone know of an easy way to download a story from blogspot? I am hoping to avoid copying and pasting each chapter into word and converting it from there.

Hello,
is anyone else having problems downloading the fics? FanfictionDowloader: the captchka loops and can stay all day without ever downloading the fic, I tried I know what I'm talking about and it's been going on for almost a month, I even deleted it before redownloading it with the same results,
FF2EBOOK works every other day and FicLab must be manipulated in chrome before appearing on the fic and does not download all the chapters, I don't know what to do, if anyone had the same problems and solved them, I I would really like to know how to fix this problem
thank you,
cathy

FicLab should *definitely* be downloading all the chapters - if it isn't, I'll want to fix that ASAP. If you're having issues with it not grabbing everything, are you able to post an example URL you're having trouble with, and (if you're seeing one) the text of the error message that appears?

Hello,
I solved the Ficlab problem by emptying all my Ebook Reader library and restarting my Pc, for now it works, I was able to download all the chapters of the fic, it was from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login Ficlab only downloaded the first 27 chapters instead of the 30 online
I hope the problem is solved for me, I'm waiting to see tomorrow if the Ficlab plugin will be on my fanfiction site
have a good day,
cathy

I'm glad you got it sorted (although it's unlikely to be related to clearing your library, as FicLab has nothing to do with that), and thanks very much for providing that link.

I've tested that story, and it does seem to be working correctly - all 30 chapters downloaded just fine. Given the story has just recently been updated, I'm wondering if this might have been a caching issue on ffnet's end; I am aware of a few problems they have had recently with newly posted chapters not always being visible on the site.

I'll keep an eye on the situation, but if it happens again, would you be willing to let me know? Ideally via the ficlab.com contact form, but a PM here will also usually reach me reasonably promptly.
