Thanks, Steve. I've sent you a PM. Hopefully, it has enough detail for you.
This sounds like it's struggling with Cloudflare's recent changes. 20 requests is the initial burst limit for story pages. I've passed your message on to the FFDL developer. FicHub uses cached data to fulfil a lot of its requests. It's likely that this is what you are encountering here, and it's simply that the copy of the story FicHub has available is stale.
Does anyone else use FanFiction Downloader.net to make pdf's from stories on line? I just recently used it and for the first time it's not working right for me. I have the 9.4 version. When I open the pdf of the fic I've downloaded the last few chapters have their heading but no text. I have a laptop with Windows. Any recommendations? I save everything into pdf format.
Don't know if it will be the same, but I fixed the issues I was having with ficlab by allowing pop-up ads on ffn. My ficlab speed went back to normal and the program is no longer having rejection issues.
For clarity, FicLab never displays advertising. The popup mechanism is used to open a new tab to solve Cloudflare's automated challenge on ffnet story pages. Once Cloudflare is dealt with, the extra tab will automatically close again.
Thanks for the clarification, Steve.Do you ever sleep?
NONE of this worked for me and now I cannot even delete fics that I use Fanficdownloader for. It tells me that I cannot delete them because the accounts are open up in the cloud. Until I "close" the cloud, I cannot delete them. I'm devastated. Is this the end of downloading fic's on Perusing the Shelves? Really, idk. There was a poster who kept coming back about Penalty Shot by Edward'sEternal. She actually PM'd me. Those links were totally working for me. However, now what I'm experiencing is exactly what she was describing. Up to C16, was all she could read when she downloaded the link. Now I understand. It's the same with this stupid CLoud. I'm sure someone is getting their jollies out of the small crowd who love fanfiction works. Some squecky wheel is the one who changed all of this. I'm just plain done with it. I find it beyond manipulating but disgusting.
Is your browser up to date? I just opened up Penalty Shot from PTS and could see all of the chapters. I'm sorry I can't help more than that. I don't use Fanficdownloader, but maybe someone who does have some ideas on what could be amiss. I think jklly12 uses it. Try pming her.
NONE of this worked for me...

That is because the actions being discussed relate to FicLab, not to FFDL. You are using FFDL. They are completely separate tools, and have nothing whatsoever to do with each other - the only similarity is that they are both intended to download fanfic and turn it into ebook files. The developer of FFDL (Raimond) is aware of the issue, and trying to find a workaround for it. The problem with FFDL relates to passing CloudFlare validation for the build-in QT browser, and it's giving him a bit of grief trying to find a solution.No. While FFDL is having issues, it's not the only available tool. You can continue to download fics using a different tool in the meantime. I can confirm that FicLab still works, as do a number of other tools. If you have any issues with FicLab, you are welcome to contact me for assistance; I am FicLab's sole developer. If it breaks, you have my word I will do my best to rectify any issues rapidly - although for what it's worth, FicLab has proven to be quite robust in the face of what ffnet has been doing with Cloudflare, and has continued to work throughout (albeit a bit more slowly these days to work around the restrictions).
I downloaded a Twific (wanting to convert it to a PDF) by using FFDL(4.3). It only has partial text. So I right-clicked the file and tried to delete the file (Windows 10). A command box pops up which says - File In Use - The action can't be completed because the file is open in Command Line interface to the conversion/news download system. - Close the file and try again. - Two tabs below - Try Again/Cancel. I do not know what that even means. I cannot even delete this incomplete, fic file from my system now.
This means that a part of FFDL is stuck, and is still running, with that file open. Windows cannot delete files that are open.To fix this, you can either use the task manager to kill off whatever part of FFDL is still running, or you can reboot your computer. Either will work. Once that step is completed, you will be able to delete the file.
Thank you so much that worked!!
