So, with all the weird things happening on ff.net, I am trying to download a story from their site and cannot. I have FanFiction Downloader 0.9.5 on my computer. When I go to download a story using FFD, the Captcha solver pops up and never loads. Can you help me? (my browser is GoogleChrome, also)

FFDL does not currently work on ffnet; the developer is having trouble dealing with the Cloudflare stuff.

FicLab and FicHub both still work, so I'd recommend using one of those.

Thanks so much for the ficlab recommendation. It's awesome. Does the other one work on mobile devices? I mostly read on my iPhone when I am on the bus or outside having a quick cigarette (I don't smoke in the house because of my child, and my Fiancé and quite frankly because I don't want my house to smell of smoke) but I mostly read on my phone when I am out and about, going to and from nursery/daycare to drop off/pick up my son. If I'm in the house I read on my kindle 10 or my iPad (I say 'my' but they became my little one's as soon as he was old enough to know how to tap a touch screen lol) so it would be good to have an option where by I don't have to download it onto my PC first then email it to myself and download it on my phone from the email if you get what I mean. It would be good to be able to download the fanfic directly onto whichever device I have got (I.E whichever one is charged that Riley isn't using, Riley is my little boy.)

You're most welcome. I'm glad you like my software :)

FicLab can generate files which can be read on mobile devices (e.g. ePub, PDF etc), but as it is a browser plugin, it does not officially support running the actual plugin on mobile devices - so normally, you'd still need to transfer the files there. Many users find that saving them to Google Drive / OneDrive / iCloud etc. is a suitable option for them, as that way the syncing can be largely automatic. However, if you have an Android device, it is still technically possible to run the browser plugin there in an alternative browser which supports desktop plugins (e.g. Kiwi Browser), which will allow you to download directly on the device.

Fichub is just a website, and as such should work on all mobile devices.

So, Google Chrome tells me that FicLab violates their policies now. Any other way to download fanfics into pdf's? (although with the current condition of ff.com, I'm sure it's not possible to download any story)  FanFiction Downloader still doesn't work either.  >:(

FicLab does still work fine - you can continue to use it 🙂.

FicLab doesn't violate Google's policies, but was the subject of an incorrect DMCA copyright takedown request on Friday, alleging that it infringes copyright by bypassing paywalls (which it does not).

Google is unfortunately legally required to respond to such a request by removing the extension from the Chrome webstore until a counter notice is filed, and the complainant has a chance to respond. They also automatically disabled it for users who have it installed.

I've filed a counter-notice, and it should be back online within 14 days, which is the legal period that Google must wait for a response from the complainant before reinstating it. It may also be back sooner, if the complaint is withdrawn.

In the meantime, you have two options for continuing to use FicLab:

1. If you already had the Chrome version installed, you can simply re-enable it. Google automatically disables extensions that have been pulled from the store, but does not uninstall them, so you can simply enable it again and continue using as normal.

2. The Firefox version of the extension is still available, and to the best of my knowledge, there has been no takedown attempt for the Firefox listing. If you don't have FicLab installed, then installing the Firefox version is the best option at present.

Thank you so much for making the situation clear. Unfortunately, I did remove the app. I really do not want to download another browser. So, I will wait the 14 days and keep checking back to see if FicLab is back. I truly love this fic/downloader. It works beautifully for me. Ironically, I had just used FicLab before they gave me notice. I look forward to it's return. Thanks again!

If you'd prefer to be notified, I'll make sure I post in this thread once the Chrome listing is back - so if you subscribe to this thread, it'll save you having to check :)

I'm really glad you find my software useful!

This is taking longer than expected to resolve, due to extremely slow (i.e. many days' delay) responses to email on the part of Google's copyright team. I suspect they may be somewhat overloaded.

They have asked for additional info to go with my counter-notice, but didn't say what piece of info they were actually wanting. I'm currently waiting for them to clarify what they need.

The Firefox version of the extension remains available. I will update this thread again once the Chrome webstore listing is back online.

Anyone know any sites for downloading specifically wattpad fanfics? The sites I'm able to access don't have wattpad fanfic downloading and the ones that do, I'm unable to use.
