1. Find story
2. Click Table of Contents
3. Click print symbol on top right side of title
4. In TWCS click cancel print on top left
5. Ctrl A, Ctrl C and Ctrl V into a word doc
6. Use a converter site if you want to make it any format you prefer (I'm a PDF girl!)

I don't know if this is common knowledge but it works and is better than going through each chapter, something I do on blogs! :P

You can also copy the url of the story and go to You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and it will download the story into any format you prefer and it generates a cover automatically.

BTW - if anyone has a tablet and can't see the book or fic covers, just reconvert the book or fic into the format you need (even if it is already in the needed format) and it'll put the cover as part of the book file. Learned that the hard way for my K-Fire. I downloaded a bunch of fanfics and made covers for them in calibre and had to do that to get them to show up.

Calibre and FanFiction
« Reply #3 on: November 17, 2012, 03:02 PM »
So I realized I should probably have parted this wise and sage knowledge earlier, but for those who use Calibre to organize their eLibraries, there is a plugin that can be used in conjunction with the program for FanFiction.

It's really easy to use and lets you download finished works and and incomplete ones, update incompleted ones, etc.

It can be found here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Or at mobileread.com here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

And you can troubleshoot any problems at the mobileread link (or post them on this thread - I can try to help you.)

Let me know what you think! ;)

I LOVE the FF downloader plug in for Calibre! I discovered it not long after I started reading fic, and I like it a lot. There are a few things about Flagg that I like better (the way it does the covers), but I much prefer the ease of simply using that plug in to put the stories right where I want them- in Calibre. I also love how it automatically tags the in progress ones. Every so often, I just click the ones with that tag and click update. It gets the updates if there are any, even changing the tag to complete if it completes.

Another program that works amazingly well to DL from ff sites - many of them - is Fanfiction Downloader.

I found it a while ago, a fellow fanfic reader in the Netherlands (yes its totally legit!!) wrote and posted for free download online. Its called Fanfiction Downloader - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and I have to say it is AMAZING!!!

It downloads - in entirety no matter how many chaps - any fic on ff.net, fictionpress, twcs, twilighted, and a bunch more. It also downloads to pdf AND epub, mobi, etc. Great little program, and free can't be beat.
Congrats to all the Wonderful Members of the Month!!!! And THANKS to all the mods who work so hard to make this place so awesome!!!

Check the possibilities listed here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

The fanfic downloader plug-in for calibre works.  Steve lists some alternatives on the Flag site, as well.

ALTERNATIVES TO FLAG

The following are some of the available alternatives to FLAG which will allow you to save stories while I am negotiating with ffnet to continue FLAG's support for their sites. None of them function in quite the same way as FLAG, however hopefully they will be useful.

Fanfiction Downloader - Windows / OSX application, requires Calibre. Slow, but generally reliable, and well supported by the developer. There's also a limited web interface to this available via their site.
Fanfiction Downloader (same name as above, but different program) - Calibre plugin, or also available via their website with a Google login. Slow, but generally reliable, and well supported by the developer. Please be considerate when using their web service, as they have limited resources available.
De-FFNet-Izer - Windows application. I haven't personally tested this one, but I've heard that it works.

Ok, so I'm new do downloading my favorite fics, and I was wondering if anyone could help me get started. Which downloader to use? Do I use the web or do I need to download a program? Any easy tips (or even fanfic downloading for dummies!) would be appreciated.

Thanks! :)

I love using the fanfiction downloader as part of calibre.  You need to download the calibre program and the add on, but it's easy and using it is easy.  Search "calibre" on the 4th and 5th Twilight discussion and recommendations thread and you'll find all kinds of tips and information.

I have a question. Is there anyway we can download from The Writer's Coffee Shop Library? Flagfic's been down and it's not supported by FanFictionDownloader.net Webversion for Kindle. :'(

Thanks!

TWCS has a built in downloader.  Please see the opening post on this page for the link to the thread that outlines alternative downloading options.  That thread includes instructions on how to use the built-in feature on TWCS.

saw the posts about TWCS having a built in downloader. Just thought I'd let everyone know that I found another website to download from after FLAGFIC has been down for so long. Right now it only downloads from FF.net and is only in PDF, EPub, and MOBI (but those can be converted with Calibre). It is ficsave.com

Haha noticed that right after I finished posting :)
OK, I went there and I have NO IDEA how to even navigate it?!  There are no instructions on how to download....how do you figure that out?

And before we get in trouble, this is probably a discussion for the discussion thread....

don't know which thread is the discussion thread.... I'm knew to the website and don't have it bookmarked yet 0.o

Are you sure you have the right website? It is just one page with a box to put in the URL, a drop down menu to pick format, and a dowload button. Like I said, it only does FF.net right now because it is fairly new (there is a list of updates at the bottom of the page)
