This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

What I've done in the past is downloaded and saved the image to my computer, then used it here.  I'll ask if that's okay.

If you have the picture saved on your computer, the only option is to attach it.

To actually post it in a reply, it needs to be hosted (is that the right term?) on a website like photobucket or tinypics.

And now I'm shutting up about this and hopefully someone with far more knowledge who can actually dumb it down enough for me to understand it will explain more!

You may be right.  I've posed the question though, so we'll see.  I thought that was the way I did my avi.  But I got it from RDMickey's tumblr, so I could be wrong.  I know I saved it to my computer at some point though.  I don't really speak tech either.  The other mods are doing some serious handholding with me!

Until about an hour ago, I thought tumblr was a sharing/hosting site!

I'm pretty sure you're right in that to post a pic that's not as an attachment you need to use a 3rd party site (photobucket, tiny pic, etc) to host it. It's kind of a PITA but most forums use this method

You know how when you get your link of the fic you want to download and click on the arrow of the downloader button? You hit the first option, "Add New from URLS" and paste your link (actually mine shows up automatically). Then, towards the bottom it says "If story already exists?" and you have a drop down menu. Choose Update Epub if new chapters.

You can also configure the plug in so that's the option that shows up first and you don't have to change it every time. Hit config plug in from the downloader drop down. On the Basic tab choose Update Epub if new chapters on "Default if Story Already Exists"

ok I must be blind or something because I looked in both areas like you said, but all I see is "add new book",  "Overwrite if newer",  "overwrite always", and "update caliber metadata only"   that is all it say in both areas.  I am soo confused LOL

Nevermind, I think that I've got it.

Do you happen to have your output format set to Mobi? I changed mine to that and now only have those options that you mentioned. But when I switch back to Epub output then I get several other options, one being to add new chapters.

lol you are the best     it worked.  How well does epub work with the kindle fire?

is anyone else having issues with the Fanfiction Downloader on calibre? I'm trying to update Epubs with new chapters that I know have been added since I originally downloaded them and I keep getting this message under the failed comments:

'NoneType' object has no attribute 'lower'

I've tried 4 different fics so far....anyone else have this issue or know what I'm doing wrong?? 

Did you update Fanfic Downloader?  It recently updated.  And it is working for me without a problem? 

The other question is did the URL change at all?  I sometimes get that if it can't find the URL.

Under Customize FanFictionDownLoader, on the Basic tab over to the right there are two drop-down menus.  One is for type.  I selected epub, because even though I prefer mobi? The metadata only seems to work well with the epub. 

The second one will say "Skip" if you have mobi selected.  Use epub for downloading and it will show up.  Then it is very easy to convert.  It will automatically convert before it transferring it to your Kindle.

So yeah, it doesn't work with mobi.
