Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Happy birthday Tricklem. Glad you got a tablet.

So, now I'm not getting notifications on any PTS site. What did you guys do to fix this....I remember some of you mention experiencing this situation. This is so frustrating.

See, that well-written part? That is hard to find. LOL!

But almost everything I've read by Nolbucgrl or Drotuno has been good and reasonably well written.  I recently read a couple by Samekraemer that were good and well-written.  One has been pulled but is in the index - Miss Conception and Mis (ter) Undertaking.

Ahahahaha I know!
Thank you, i will take a look at your suggestions

That sounds like one p*ssed off author.  Not only pulled but sent a message.  I'm doing a search of the story number to see if I have it. So far, nothing.   :P

With all the holiday baking shows I've been watching, it has put me in the mood for a little Chefward.  Can anybody recommend some good fics where E is a chef? Thanks!

Chef Edward is used to people fawning over his cuisine. Enter Bella. She would far rather grab a cheeseburger at her favorite place- McDonald's. What is Chefward to do but try and show her the errors of her ways? But can she teach him anything?

Gotta say, I feel pretty good emotionally today. I raised $336 for charity with my blanket, and my work is going to match. What a great feeling!!
Wow!!! I'm so glad that you raised that much hun, and for your work to match it is brilliant.  :PDT_Armataz_01_37: :bravo_2:

My favourite Chefward is The Workshop - A Tale Of Edible Delights by Danieller123, it's so good. I love Edward in this but I also like Bella (which is rare) as she's quite badass and actually has a backbone for once.  ;)

Robzbeanie's Reason for Living and the sequel Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happy Endings are definitely worth a read as well.  :)

We are flying tomorrow, over 10 hours so I am trying to figure out what I want to read on the plane, after I finish the 10th book in the Percy Jackson series (why did I get started on this one, I don't know).  Of course I won't actually get to read since I'll be entertaining my little man the whole way, but I can dream, right?

Here are some I've read and liked:

Eclectic Taste by Texasbella (pulled) You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Bella is a famous but food critic.  Edward is a simple chef working at Alice's Diner.  It is a short story.

The Missing Ingredient by Edward's Eternal  - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Edward is a famous chef.  Bella only loves fast food. Life gets interesting when Edward tries to change Bella's palate.  Another short story, but cute.

Okay, there was another one where Bella went with Angela to a speed dating event as her wing-woman.  Edward was the "bartender" but it turned out that he was actually the chef and owner of the place and it was his brother or friend that was hosting the speed dating event.  As soon as I remember it, I will add it.

Welcome back Loopy!   :-*

There are 10 books in the Percy Jackson series?!?!?!?  I never made it through the first one.

Edward wasn't in it.  :D :D :D :D  :-\

Yeah, I'm probably not a good one to ask....  I'm currently reading I Don't Believe in Vampires by LazyKate.  It is a different take on Twilight.  Edward never acknowledge Bella in school, though she had a crush on him.  Bella is working her way through college by helping out a caterer who is catering an event put on by the Cullens.  This time Edward basically claims Bella.  The wolves are slightly involved and Bella is able to control her shield as a human.  But mostly, not a lot of angst.

I also started Falling Beyond Redemption by Aleeab4u.  It is very angsty.  I'm not sure I can go on .....  I don't think I could have read it as a WIP, the wolves are evil....

No Internet??   You are braver than I am. I don't think I could survive with out my internet.  I remember when my first one left home. Well, we moved provinces here in Canada and he stayed behind by choice. It was very hard and I worried about him all the time. I only have 1 out of 4 left and he lives in our basement and won't ever leave. I have to admit, I do enjoy the quieter house with 3 of the boys out.  Of course, sounds like you and the hubby are still young enough that you could fill the house up again  :D :D  and think of the fun that could be?  >:D

Thank you for the B-day wishes. It was quiet, but nice. The company I work for is very much into giving back to the community and there are fund raisers throughout the year that they hold. Didn't surprise me that they matched what I raised.

I think if I had to go any longer without internet I would of been ended up in a padded cell or we would of had a similar situation to The Shining on our hands.  :D :D
Coz no Internet makes Loopy a dull girl!!!  >:D :P
I did find a hotspot once while we were out but it was so slow that it kept timing out, kind of reminded me of being in the dial-up days.  :o

I know we still have Saxon and Dior at home for quite a few years (obviously), but I think I thought my daughter would be at home for a few more years especially after having her son (Morgan) this year and only being 17, but I was 15 when I left home so I shouldn't be so surprised and they (her, her b/f and Morgan) had to move as her b/f got a promotion, it's just a shame that their 6 hours away. I suppose I could take your advice hun and ask the hubby to get a jump start on another baby, but knowing him he'd bring another animal into the home.  :D :D
I'm sure in a few weeks time I'll be relishing not having my daughter about as she was always complaining about hearing us.  ;) :P :P

The Man Who Can't Be Moved is not one of my favorites.  There are a lot of lemons and they're not particularly good ones.  They're very repetitive.  And they story goes on forever!
Yep, this is exactly how I'm feeling about it.  I think I might flounce.    Seems like any good drama that comes up down the road is just going to be drama that I've read elsewhere. LOL

LOL. It was the second fanfic i ever read and newly discovered how graphic lemons can be! I was the M&B type of reader and the lemons of Coulter, Lindsay, Woodiwiss, Garwood and Quinn were hardly graphic. Laurens was a bit more risque then them. So it blew my mind reading FSoG and to discover fanfic. The way i have been skipping some lemons in recent months may change my opinion of some of the earlier fanfics i read. But, knowing how long it was and how many books in my TBR, i might not be re-reading anything soon.

But, actorwards followed by athletewards are my faves  ;)

I have only ever re-read Virgins and Villians and First and Ten, both in my top ten too.  And they didn't disappoint in my second reading, remaining in my top 10.  :)
I can so totally relate to this...   Before I read 50 SoG I had only ever read "fade to black"... never any details at all.  So needless to say 50 was a real eye opener.    I think back then I would have probably LOVED this.   Now I've just read so many great things that it has some really tough competition for my precious reading time.

We get to go see it on Thursday - my husband's work somehow got an early showing of it.  And of course, my husband grabbed the tickets.

Since it has Harrison Ford? I will watch it.   I liked the original 3 movies, but only the first of the second three.  I never saw the last one. (Episode 3)  It got too dark for me and frankly, I didn't feel any attachment to the characters.  :P

My husband tells me I have to get dressed up for it.  I think I may have a light saber app.  And some cinnamon rolls for my ears.  LOL!

Yeah, not going to happen....

Okay ladies - just to add one piece of Star Wars trivia to the SW hysteria - this is actually for everyone who originally saw the movie in the movie theater back in the 70's.   What did Luke Skywalker actually call the Princess (by what name) after the battle when he comes back in the flyer.  He jumps out of the flyer and looks down over the wing and calls her what name?  I went with a neighbor originally.  I was going to go eventually but hadn't made it to the theater - was visiting two neighbors on the second floor apt. under me (2 best friends who were rooming together - don't remember either of their names anymore although I do remember the name of the lifelong best friend of one of them because I had dated once her friend ann's boyfriend - he was a jerk - but I digress).  Anyway - one of the girls (for the purposes of this story I will name her Judy) was raving about a new movie and how great it was and how I should see it.  I said I would but not "right now".  Judy persisted and I kept giving the same answer - mainly because I couldn't fit in the price of a movie ticket that month.  Judy finally went "What are you doing tomorrow  night?"  "Nothing, why"?  "Good - because I'm taking you to see Star Wars".  "But I just said...."  and got interrupted.  "No you misunderstand me - I'm taking you and paying your way. You really need to see it".  So we went, we get to the end of the battle and the fighters come back and Judy leans over and whispers "Pay attention to the next bit of conversation".  I said okay and then I hear Luke say as he looks down before he jumps down off the wing "Carrie..."   I looked at Judy and said "Did he really say what I just thought I heard?"  and she went "Yup - cool huh...."   I ended up going 7 more times after that in part to catch that line.  Heard it 6 more times.  The last time, there was a problem with the sound system and the sound was lousy - too loud and good lines were muffled and I came home with a raging headache.  The next time I saw the movie was at the World Science Fiction Convention in Boston in 1979.   By that time however, the line was not there - they had redubbed over it and he called her what he was supposed to call her which was of course Leia.  What really irks me however was when Mark Hamill appeared on QVC sometime around 2000 and some poor schmuck called in and commented on the Leia/Carrie line and Mark was an absolute jerk and a$$hole and said "Never happened.  That is an urban legend" and they cut the guy off and changed the subject.  I went excuse me?   Anyway - I currently have no use for Mark Hamill.  There's a reason his career went nowhere - particularly after he insulted half the known Star Wars universe with that remark.
