Okay ladies - just to add one piece of Star Wars trivia to the SW hysteria - this is actually for everyone who originally saw the movie in the movie theater back in the 70's.   What did Luke Skywalker actually call the Princess (by what name) after the battle when he comes back in the flyer.  He jumps out of the flyer and looks down over the wing and calls her what name?  I went with a neighbor originally.  I was going to go eventually but hadn't made it to the theater - was visiting two neighbors on the second floor apt. under me (2 best friends who were rooming together - don't remember either of their names anymore although I do remember the name of the lifelong best friend of one of them because I had dated once her friend ann's boyfriend - he was a jerk - but I digress).  Anyway - one of the girls (for the purposes of this story I will name her Judy) was raving about a new movie and how great it was and how I should see it.  I said I would but not "right now".  Judy persisted and I kept giving the same answer - mainly because I couldn't fit in the price of a movie ticket that month.  Judy finally went "What are you doing tomorrow  night?"  "Nothing, why"?  "Good - because I'm taking you to see Star Wars".  "But I just said...."  and got interrupted.  "No you misunderstand me - I'm taking you and paying your way. You really need to see it".  So we went, we get to the end of the battle and the fighters come back and Judy leans over and whispers "Pay attention to the next bit of conversation".  I said okay and then I hear Luke say as he looks down before he jumps down off the wing "Carrie..."   I looked at Judy and said "Did he really say what I just thought I heard?"  and she went "Yup - cool huh...."   I ended up going 7 more times after that in part to catch that line.  Heard it 6 more times.  The last time, there was a problem with the sound system and the sound was lousy - too loud and good lines were muffled and I came home with a raging headache.  The next time I saw the movie was at the World Science Fiction Convention in Boston in 1979.   By that time however, the line was not there - they had redubbed over it and he called her what he was supposed to call her which was of course Leia.  What really irks me however was when Mark Hamill appeared on QVC sometime around 2000 and some poor schmuck called in and commented on the Leia/Carrie line and Mark was an absolute jerk and a$$hole and said "Never happened.  That is an urban legend" and they cut the guy off and changed the subject.  I went excuse me?   Anyway - I currently have no use for Mark Hamill.  There's a reason his career went nowhere - particularly after he insulted half the known Star Wars universe with that remark.

I agree.. I can live without Mark as well.. but... Harrison..... HARRISON!!  :sparklyheart: :sparklyheart: :sparklyheart: :sparklyheart:

He still makes me...

Harrison Ford even in his 70's still has IT - however you wish to define what IT is.

Pretty sure that Mark went into the directing/producing side of things. He may have been a jerk about sluffing the caller off, but maybe the studio told him not to talk about that? I mean even if he said it, they missed it when the did the editing of the film before it hit the theaters.

My hubby did meet him a few years ago at Comic Con... He was randomly standing off by himself waiting for his signature/greeting gig to start... My hubby walked up to him and got a photo, he was on cloud 9, and said he was nice and chatted for a few minutes with him. I told my hubby he was at the right place at the right time *hahahaaa...

Urghhhh, someone help me!!!

The hubby and 5 of his brothers decided to go see the midnight viewing of Stars Wars last night and all I've heard about from them (as they all came back to ours to sleep, and I can't get rid of them now  :D) is how good it is.
If that wasn't bad enough, they've spent the whole day with the kids watching all of the previous films and planning when they can go see the new one again as apparently it's the best way to spend a day of work.  ::)

tricklem - I tried answering your post several hours ago and I kept getting error messages when I tried to post so I just said to hell with it and gave up.  Not important.   Mark Hamill was supposedly at World Con in Boston in '79 but dressed as a storm trooper - he loved geeking out in the dealers' room and it was evidently the only way he could go and not be mobbed. His name tag evidently had his name on it but no one was paying attention.

Ah, I was wondering if I was missing a notification or something.  I usually get them,  but every once in a while I don't. Not consistent though.

So, saw Star Wars.  Loved seeing Harrison Ford. So, hopefully,  without giving anything away,  can I say I did not expect Han Solo and Princess Leia to have such an ugly kid.  So far, I'm liking the main characters and it is much more like episode IV (the original Star Wars)  lots of funny parts that may not be so funny if you didn't see the original set of movies.  But definitely worth seeing.

Though I will wait for the DVD to see it again.  I can see my husband going back.  But I had my earplugs in pretty much the whole time.  Everything is just too loud. And bright.  I swear if I were epileptic from flashy lights, that movie would set me off.  And? Our theaters are really small. Like 100 seats at the most and a huge screen.  Which is probably why I don't go often.   :P

So A Sprinkling of Sugar by Edwards Eternal just completed. Really cute Christmas story.  Edward is an "athhole" who doesn't eat sugar but Bella, a single mother, soon turns him around. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

We're going tonight to see it.  My husband is going crazy because he waited for me( I had to work) and missed the premiere. He still has the stuff he collected when he was younger. The sheets, sabers costume etc.. He'll never let them go....the kids couldn't touch when they were younger.
Our very first date we went to see one of them(sorry) and waited almost 2 hours to get in. You know that was not a happy time for me. Can't believe we went on a second date after that ..lol.
Anyway his cheesy line was that he wanted to be with the best girl to see the best movie ever....I guess that line led to the second date..lol.

So, how's the holiday shopping going for everyone? I went a couple days last week and I almost tore my hair out. It was a madhouse!!! I'm trying to convince my family to celebrate a week later...when the insanity dies down and everything is on sale!!! Not getting any headway with that idea..lol.

Thanks FFG for the email update....I don't feel so lonely now!
Have a good week y'all. It's supposed to be in the 70's in GA for XMAS....definitely not a white one...just the way I like it!

Watched it Saturday with my hubby, kids and 30 yr old niece. Hubby and I really liked it. The kids were just ok with it. Guess bec they never saw any of the previous movies they couldn't relate as much. We all loved bb8 though!

My siblings and I all decided not to give each other any gifts, to spare us from the headache of shopping. We will just give each others kids. Since my son is the youngest at 12, i already declared i will just give cash to everyone so they can buy what they want. We've been doing this for a few years now.  :)

At the office, i have also donated cash for our department christmas party to be given as raffle prize for 10 people. Again, i've been doing this for about 5 years now so I don't have to buy any gifts.  :) I only buy a handful of gifts for my one downs and close friends at the office who are not from my department and not part of  our christmas party. My friends either have our party in early december or in early january so we avoid the crowds.  :) Makes for a sane and trouble free christmas!
