Don't know if this has been posted somewhere, but FileneIsFun is taking down Letters from the Heartland to self publish on Amazon. It is scheduled to be deleted on June 1st. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I already have it in my Calibre library that isn't updating to Google properly, no matter what I do.

Looking for any recommendations of a good B/E BDSM Fanfic.

#1. Tara Sue Me's Submissive series. While it has been pulled to publish and expanded, the first three books are in the index.

I usually like a dominant Edward but Our Lives Unbound by theladyingrey42 is so well written, I highly recommend it.

Robshandmonkey's Shhhh is a bdsm vampward. Not for everyone. I think it's still on starslibrary. She also wrote another decent d/s fic: Edward's Eternal Kiss I and II.

Collared by irishchicka1 is more about undercover spying, but a good read.

For kinky in general, check out fics by AliciaW68 - The Body; That Night; Deprivation; etc.

People Like Us by justginger is a good story, though not well written. It is INSANELY long. One of those storyteller vs. writer scenarios. It's over 1.3 million words, and I was engaged enough with the story that I stuck with it, so it's a toss up. It gets a bit more into the psychology of d/s than other fanfics.

. It is absurd to allow anyone to TM a commonly used word from the dictionary that has already been used by multiple authors in multiple book titles. A stylized graphic of a word is one thing, but this author is threatening self-published authors who have the text "cocky" in their book title. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I want to know which intern approved this at the patent office.

As I understand the issue, the word in a certain style was registered, not the word itself. The author appears to be overreaching her rights.

Exactly - though there is also some speculation about whether she actually had the right to use that particular font.

Reportedly, she is asking authors to retitle if they use the text "cocky" because it siphons readers away from her when they are searching.

Can you imagine if authors started copyrighting words like love, stars, family, etc.? She starts writing in 2016 and is acting like she invented "cocky". Ridiculous.

This is the most ridiculous, frivolous thing ever. I’ve read some of the comments and lot of authors and fans are out to “coc* block her.
I can understand if she invented the word she’d have a leg to stand on.
Amazon has pulled book titles with that name in the title.
Hard to believe this is for real.

I was shocked when I found out that they approved that. From what I understand, she was told that there was another book with the same name as one of hers by one of her readers. Shocking, I know. Then someone else told her about a book that had a similar plotline to one of hers. She freaked out and tried to get them to take theirs down because hers was so unique. Yeah, I doubt it. They basically told her to F* off. I think one of them, if not both of them, was actually published before hers. So she went crazy and tried to TM cocky and managed to succeed. Who knows what was wrong with the TM office that they didn't bother to check Amazon and see there were already many instances of Cocky the series and Cocky the title that predated her books and were still in print. Oh, and she only renamed her series after she got the TM. Not before. (You can't TM a book title, but you can TM a series title - which she didn't actually do, since the series name is actually "The Cocky Series")

Fortunately, there are authors who used to be attorneys specializing in intellectual property. One of them filed a cancellation of TM request. It should work, but may take a few months. Amazon put back all the books they took down in light of this. LOL! I really got sucked into reading about all this. No real drama in my life so I have to get it where I can.

No, she actually managed to get both a word-mark for the stylized word and a trademark for use as an ebook series. And yes she is overreaching her rights.

Of course, she failed to notice that the terms on the stylized print she used does not allow her to get a trademark/word-mark with it. So the guy who owns the font potentially now owns the word-mark.

She's an (not famous) actress who wrote (?) about 18 books in less than 2 years and who has a picture that she produced or directed coming out this summer. She clearly understands nothing about the publishing industry, as she used stock photos for her covers and can't understand why other have the same or similar photos. She's p*ssed off other indie writers and also a lot of her readers by doing this, since she stated the reason she got the word mark was that her readers were confused by the same or similar titles. It is a mess.
