I watched about 10 minutes of it.  I hear she deleted it and either deleted her Facebook account or made it private so no one could see it.      

Someone else posted it on youtube before she pulled it off her FB. I didn't watch it, but Jenny Trout did and live tweeted it. Woman is freaking nuts. This isn't hurting her sales, but people are going after her livelihood. Come at her, she can take it, then deletes her FB page. She went after authors who used the same stock art as her, authors who used the same names as her, authors who had books too "similar" to her. It's been crazy to watch her meltdown.

I watched about 30 mins and it went from the ridiculous to bizarre. That post was over an hour.

Even more dangerous, she was granted rights to do what she did. Amazing!

I think she thought she could quietly get rid of her competition and it blew up in her face. I really don't think she thought this through.

I'm just really disappointed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Aren't they supposed to do minimal research into this before issuing a patent or trademark to see if it has been done before?  Or was in regular use?  It took an attorney/writer 20 seconds to find multiple books published before hers with the same name.  And even a series or two.  It should never have happened.

The biggest problem if it stands is that any one could trademark any word and make it impossible for others to write.  That is why you technically cannot copyright or trademark a title of a book, from what I understand. I noticed initially a lot of tweets from writers of other genres laughing about this, until it was pointed out that if this holds out, this could ruin all genres as people get TM's for main words used in titles.

I only lasted about five minutes into the video, but I did read through the sporking on Twitter.

I also signed a petition going to the Patent office because her book series doesn't have the word "cocky" in it. It's "Cocker Brothers of Atlanta", and she uses "cocky" in titles.

According to Goodreads, she changed the titles to "Cocker Brothers of Atlanta: The Cocky Series", or something like that, on April 8, 2018, I think it was.  She applied for the TM in September 2017.  I really think she maybe should have changed the name before she applied not when it was approved.

Now some game company in the UK is trying to trademark the work Rebellion. And their TM request includes books, housewares, and other non-game items. Our hero, Kevin Kneupper, who is a former IP lawyer specializing in things like this, is filing a protest on it.  He also filed the cancellation request on "Cocky" because, as a writer, he has standing to protest it.

It is actually very interesting to see how far this stuff will go.  I heard something about someone trying to TM "embrace".  I'm thinking the writers' groups are going to have to start paying more attention to the TM filings.  It is going to get crazy otherwise.

It probably had a different name up until this week. 

Not according to Faleena.

However, Amazon told Romance Writers of America that they are reposting the old books and won't be removing any new books with the word cocky until the legalese is settled.

I noticed The Cocky Series by another author is back. She actually had the name before Faleena.  I notice Faleena hasn't been around since her rant the other day. But I don't watch instagram just twitter.  What a mess. And what a way to ruin your career as an author.

Hey everyone.  I’m looking for a certain type of fics I’m looking for bad boy Edward  and  innocent Bella. I love fics like slowest burn and dank. Those are great fics. I want something along those lines. High school preferred but others are ok. Maybe Edward is a drug dealer. Bella watches him from afar but is sweet and innocent. Maybe he thinks Bella is a Priss at first or a nerd. Maybe he’s a bully... just recommend me some, please!!! Once again, bad boy Edward, and innocent Bella.

I recently finished reading one called the Night Janitor.  The story sucked me in enough that I kept reading. Every word was correctly spelled.  But it was so full of misused words, it was crazy.  She was tiered.  I would have been tired, but if she wanted to be stuck on some level thing, well who am I to argue.  There was the usual shutter, though there wasn't much shuttering, thank goodness.  I don't know that I would recommend it. Slow burn.  Bella is a virgin and for some reason, even though she was an English major, knows nothing about having a boy friend/sex.  Alice, Edward's sister, has to give her "the talk".  It reads like a modern regency romance. I also noticed this was her only canon story.  The rest are mostly Jasper/Bella.

I just finished Seattle Adventures.  Edward came back home to take over his father's tour business, where Bella is a tour guide.  If you like lemons, this is full of fun, adventurous lemons. No angst, but a few side dramas.  But lots of lemons.  And did I mention there were lemons? Yeah.  At least they were well written.  Edward is sweet, Bella is confident and there is a bit of tour information. Although an HEA, I would have liked a future epilogue at the end.  Oh, and there are lemons.

So, I was slowly going through all the stuff I loaded on my Kindle to read.  Only it got a small black spot on the screen. So when Amazon sent me an offer to pay me for my Kindle and give me 25% off an new one, I took it.  I wiped it last night, but forgot to mark what I read on it.  So hopefully I can figure it out so I don't load a bunch of already read things onto the new one when I get it.  So now I am stuck reading on the iPad.  #firstworldproblems
