Who's watched 50 shades darker and what did you think.

BTW were there any major changes from MoTU and the 50 shades books?

I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it.  Although I've read the story both as Master of the Universe and as 50 Shades Darker, I don't remember all the details, so can't give you the blow by blow.  However, they definitely captured the gist of the story.  The writer of the screenplay is E.L. James' husband, so you know he was faithful to her vision.

But I had to see what y'all thought of the new 50 shades of grey movie.  I haven't read the fic, the book or seen the first movie, and have no plans to, but I still want to know.

Ok, been in and out of the hospital since last week for a nasty bacterial infection. Total 6 days confinement. Went home last night. Didn't go to work today, Valentine's Day,  to recover some more and then went out mid afternoon to watch it.  :P But will go back to work tomorrow  :)

I was soooo glad there were no more black spots censoring the love scenes which were muy caliente!
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

overall, for me, tastefully done for something so risque. Loved it and totally rec it :) ^-^ ;)

Since I re-read the book last Sept., the story and scenes were pretty much fresh in my mind. I read the first two 4 times and the last thrice (which i will read again near the release of Freed in feb 2018)  :P So, i felt that it might lack some details that would make it more understandable to first time viewers with no background on the movie.

I watched it with my 65 Yr old sis-in-law who never read the books nor watched the movie. I made her read the wikipedia plot of fifty shades before we went in so she at least knows the chracters/basic story line.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Having said that, SIL really enjoyed it,  said it was hot and interesting that she didn't fall asleep which usually happens to her when she watches a movie  :D.

Bluegeek, i would recommend you read the books then watch the movies. Or at the very least, watch the first movie before this one.

As a huge fan of the books/story/characters, writing warts and all, i will love and thoroughly enjoy the movies as i infuse my own recall of the scenes from the book to add richness to what unfolds before my eyes. I get ALL the inside jokes (and i would guess the lady at my back read it too as we snorted and sighed at the same time throughout the movie). Most of the mid afternoon audience were senior citizens, a few college kids, young dating couples as it is V- Day. The viewing experience would have been different if i had watched it at night after office as then most would be late 20's to 50 yr old fans like me, with most loudly squealing in giddiness or collectively gasping at the right moments  :)

It was really meh to me (granted, I wasn't that big a fan of the books or first movie. I got to watch it for free so I thought why not, lol).

I think it was a bit choppy. I think they could have omitted a few things (Ana's Skype with her friends, Mia shopping for a tie for Christian, some of the random walking scenes) to spend a bit more time fleshing out more important parts (the scenes just after the crash, basically everything to do with Elena and Leila).

I also feel like they sacrificed some dramatic tension by wrapping up all of the conflicts too quickly. I think the first movie was more successful in this; better edited and paced.

Visually, FSD looked much better than FSoG. Dakota's hair looked better longer and Jamie looked a lot more fit (maybe only in my eyes). They also did a much better job with wardrobe.

Agree.
I felt that Dakota and Jamie had better chemistry and acting here too so i really enjoyed this.

My niece and i were also wondering: would Mrs. Dornan (the real one) watch this film?  :o
They are both actors so i guess she would understand, they all knew what they entered into. But i think it would still be very painful for any spouse to watch love scenes of their spouse.  :-\  :(

Oh man, yeah that would be tough, I mean the scenes were more than you see on most TV except maybe Game of Thrones. But yes they are actors, and they would have to know that they were close to privates and such but it didn't actually happen.

I wonder what patch they tape to her vag so he actually doesn't touch it with his face and fingers. Good camera angle too i suppose.

Sorry to hear you've been sick Booked.  Hope you are feeling better.  :-*

I'll probably wait for the DVD on this.  I still haven't watched the first one. But the two books are a complete story.  The third one is more of a sequel, based on the original MOTU.  So I will probably watch it all at once.  ;D

I thought about that as well. Hopefully their relationship is rock solid, but I think many people would feel a little insecure seeing their spouse in situations like that (I'd be really uncomfortable with it). Unless, maybe she gets a thrill from it, I guess (no judgements from me. That's their biz, lol.).

I think a lot of Hollywood divorces are a result of method acting.  It is probably hard to deal with a spouse who is "in love" with their costar. Most of those relationships don't seem to last after the movie is over.

Feel better Booked!

I wasn't overly excited about Darker until I read your reviews. I'll still wait for an internet release, but that's because I rarely go to the movies. This sounds hot though.

I haven't read much twific lately as I accidentally discovered that I enjoy fae novels. A very enjoyable reading of Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series provoked me to read the Fever books and the rest is history...

The last twifics I read was during my month long furlough from the Internet and the news to read The Presidential Treatment by smmiskimen and The Gentleman from Washington State by Betty Smith. Both were first reads for me, and I enjoyed both. Great political escapism. Wouldn't it be nice if Edward Cullen was President? I'd take either one of these.

If you could meet and spend a day with any Edward Cullen, which would you choose and why?

I saw a somewhat similar question on Goodreads and I immediately started thinking about Junior (from Grand) and Skip (from the Storm series) in their older years. Both were so protective, crotchety and funny. And  :poo: is always crazy around them.

But I had to see what y'all thought of the new 50 shades of grey movie.  I haven't read the fic, the book or seen the first movie, and have no plans to, but I still want to know.
I've not managed to see it yet as time is definitely not my friend atm, but I'll probably watch it online in the next few weeks when I get the house to myself as the hubby refuses to watch it with me after I made him watch the 1st one and he hated it (apparently).  :-X

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about it, but the one thing everyone says (including peeps on here so I see) is that the acting and chemistry between My Baby and Dakota is a lot better this time round. I've noticed that My Baby and Dakota actually talk about each other in interviews now, as when they were separately promoting FSoG they hardly ever mentioned each other, but that's not surprising as it was quite well documented that they didn't exactly get on too well to start with.

What do you mean the real one, am I not the real Mrs. Dornan.  :P :P That's like saying I'm not the real Mrs. Bateman on the w/ends.  :D :D

Anyhoo, I remember reading somewhere a while ago that Amelia decided that she didn't want to see anymore of the films after FSoG as she didn't feel too comfortable watching her husband getting intimate with another woman whether it was real or not. I'd probably be the same as no-one wants to see their partner "getting it on" (fake or not) with anyone else unless that's your "thing" I suppose.  ;D

In a fantasy world where i was married to a hot movie star, i definitely will not watch his sex scenes.  :( :-\

My niece sent me this and it was so true and funny seeing it from the eyes of someone who did not read  the book  :D :D But of course, as a fan, i knew the "inside story" about some of the things she was puzzled about (i.e 41-44, 61-63 to name a few). Her other general comments are things i've thought of too.  :) :D

MAJOR MOVIE SPOILERS
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Will likely watch again this weekend with my 61 yr old sister who also loved the books. My niece is her daughter and is working abroad. So i am doing my sisterly duties to accompany her.  ;)

I loved the link, especially #84!  Obviously, those of us who have read the book didn't have as many WTF! moments.  I went with a friend who read the first book, but not the rest.  She seemed to navigate the movie okay, but she did have a few questions.

I did think there was more sex in this movie than the first one, and maybe it was also more graphic, like the scene where he is nose deep in Ana.  But maybe I just need to watch the first one again to compare...

Good Luck! That is all I can say.  I have never gotten a good PDF to mobi, or really PDF to anything conversion.  The hard line breaks makes even the best conversions messy.  That said, if you can find an epub version, it will convert better.  Is it a Twific?

Good Luck! That is all I can say.  I have never gotten a good PDF to mobi, or really PDF to anything conversion.  The hard line breaks makes even the best conversions messy.  That said, if you can find an epub version, it will convert better.  Is it a Twific?

I convert PDFs to Word, then edit the doc and convert it to EPUB and I have had great luck with that. It even gets me the table of contents. On a side note Ella are you still working on editing MOTU? I seem to recall you mentioning that you were going to.

LOL! I should probably mention I have ADD.  When I get distracted I tend to forget  what I was doing.   :P

It still requires a lot of work to go from PDF to Word to EPub, unless you have an easy what to edit that I don't know about?   ;)
