Have you read drotuno's Gravity Series. Bella owns a PI firm with the girls. Edward and the guys are mercenaries who end up joining the girls in the business after the first book.

The Lost ... still on ffn
Bella Swan was not normal. She had been born with the gift of seeing the dead, but to her it was a curse. She had sworn off her abilities as she returned to her hometown to live out her final year of high school in an attempt at being normal, but nothing is normal when you are the one hope at redemption for the spirit of a lost boy. *paranormal romance & drama* beta'd

There was a problem for a while, but you could still download fictions with a link and FicLab. But I tried a few days ago and it worked fine, I think. Maybe I was just lucky, but if you haven't tried since this w-e, you should try again.

Does anyone have any good story recommendations where Edward and Bella are opposites? Like nerd and popular.

Slut shaming in fanfic
So sorry if this is way too off topic or doesn't belong here at all. If there is a forum that actually is for the purpose of what I'm going to post let me know. It's kind of a rant. I will not be eloquent. I'm not a writer.

I get frustrated reading stories where promiscuous women are slut shamed. Bella always has to be this virginal sweet innocent pure angel while other characters like Tanya, Lauren, Jessica etc. are shit on because they like sex. OKAY. It's one thing if they're trying to pursue a taken man obviously, that's not why they should be called a slut anyway. Do I make sense? In many stories, Rosalie is promiscuous too, and likes to sleep with people, but does SHE get shamed for it? Let me know.

Another thing that's frustrating is when Edward is totally okay to sleep around and have a past sexual history but god forbid Miss Bella even breathe near a guy. I don't want to get too in depth to my frustrations but most of the time it's the same song and dance when it comes to anything sexual with these characters. It's OKAY to have a sexual history! Just be safe, don't be an idiot that wants to ruin relationships! I don't wanna knock people who write stories like this, but I have to assume it's sometimes the writer's opinion as well, or they think slut shaming brings depth to the story.

I opened up one story while looking for something to read and the first line is "I don't want to look like a slut!" It just frustrated me. Love your body, wear what you want. I guess it shouldn't be that deep, but to me it is.

Unfortunately, so many of her stories that I have read, she pulled. I looked in the index and only saw two of these listed - The Gift - The One That Never Was Book 2.

I'm an angst wimp and mamasutra wrote a lot of that genre. Here are the stories of her's I've read:

Perhaps Not to Be (pulled from FF; not in the index) - however I have a pdf
The Art of Letting Go (pulled from FF; not in the index)
The Gift (pulled from FF; in the index)
The One That Got Away (pulled from FF; not in the index)
The One That Got Away Book 2 (pulled from FF; not in the index)
The One That Never Was Book One (pulled from FF; not in the index)
The One That Never Was Book Two (pulled from FF; in the index)

I'm sorry if this wasn't very helpful. I wished back in day I'd been better about saving fic's.

I get frustrated reading stories where promiscuous women are slut-shamed. I totally agree with you!!

It frustrates me to no end to see the females characters shamed because they have a lot of sex. I began to read a story like that, not long ago, and I stopped, because why should they be ashamed of doing whatever they want in life?

Same thing with past experiences, I mean, if there's a reason for it (Bella being younger/having one steady boyfriend all along/not wanting to date), it okay, but sometimes, even if there is no shaming, I feel like the author always feel like they have to make Edward have more past relationships than Bella (when there is NO reason for it) I mean, why do he have to always be a manwhore? I like a character who is a manwhore, don't get me wrong, but why is he ALWAYS a manwhore?

But if you let me go on I can begin on the abortion, the way fanfiction always paints it as the big bad decision, the thing that is unthinkable because they already love their baby, when it's always more complicated than that. Or the way Bella almost always ends up as a stay-at-home mom when they have kids, even if she had successful a career or her own business.
I'm not saying that being a stay-at-home mom is bad, or that abortion is a good thing, or even that in every story where Bella is pregnant you should advertise it. But sometimes I'm like: But... being pregnant/ having a child, at that moment, in this story, is really hard/dangerous, why don't they, at last, think about it?

Well... here's my peace of mind, if you want it...  :)

Good day everyone (peace&love, some subjects are difficult).

I'm right there with you! I won't go on and on about this so as not to clutter it up here but it's a tiny pet peeve that it's literally meet> fall in love> HAVE to get married> HAVE to have kids> everyone else HAS to have kids>HAVE to sacrifice career choices. But at that point the whole story becomes about having kids. Look i'm not ANTI- KIDS. There's been a lot of stories where they don't even get married or have kids and those have been some of my favorites. Or the epilogue has them married with kids which I'm cool with.  That's good for the ones who want to read fluff with tiny drama, and there's plenty of different plots out there for everyone.  As for abortion, it's quite clear a lot of stories are really anti-choice ( I don't want to get too political about it, this is just my opinion ) like the plot being they're literally no where near ready to have kids or barely even know each other but yes please, let's bring another human into the mix. Hey, it's realistic sometimes but it's not my cup of tea ALL the time.  I've read a lot of fanfic and come to think of it, I can't really recall a decent story where any female character gets pregnant, has an abortion, and everyone just respects her decision.

The worst is that sometimes, they don't even do that purposefully. I mean, for example, an author wants to do a teenage pregnancy story: She isn't again abortion but in her story, the character can't do that, or it's gonna be like, the opposite of the story she wants.
But then, since she doesn't really have arguments against abortion, she brings things like: "I already love my baby", "It's already too late for abortion" or "Abortion, what is it? Never heard about it, let's keep the baby!"

I definitely agree with this as well! As much as I love the fanfiction community and there are so many authors and stories on here that push boundaries and defy the norm, the majority need to have a virginal Bella and promiscious Edward and that is one of my pet peeves.

The amount of stories I read where Edward has to be defined as a 'manwhore' which makes him so sexy and wanted, while God forbid Bella sleeps with more than one other person, she's shamed for it. It's just uncomfortable how common this theme is. Out of thousands of stories I've read on here maybe less than 20 have a Bella that is equal to Edward with her list of sexual conquests and is not embarrased or shamed for her sexuality.

What also is very common which I find frustrating is where Edward sleeps with tons of girls and the girls are always referred to as, "sluts, whores..." and Edward is never once name called, judged or blamed.  I know this is fiction but it kind of encourages this negative behaviour of gender stereotypes and slut shaming.  If it's right for one, it should be right for both and if it's wrong for one, it should be wrong for both.

Thanks for bringing this topic up because I haven't seen it discussed enough in this community!

Hi all,

I've just finished reading More by CaraNo & I fell so in love with the daddy/little girl aspect.  Does anyone know of any similar story lines?

I have also read Sugar Daddy Needed by Jess2002 and really enjoyed that.
