I'm  so sorry for your losses Ella and FFG. There's nothing I can say. I know that nothing would help, so I'm sending virtual hugs and positive thoughts.

I was a little nervous for FFG with the storms, but thought you weren't too close. My uncle lives outside Canton, but he and the horses weren't harmed.

I'm stalled on book 5 of JR Ward's angel books. The foreshadowing has me cringing, so I just started Days Like This by Soft Ragoo. Fluff. Nice break.

I just read The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness, which was quite good. I was looking for a time travel PNR and somehow found this. It reminded me of a witch version of Twilight though the characters are older. I think it's YA - definitely fade-to-black.

And I read those after obsessively falling for Anne Bishop's Others series (with a second read through after I finished the last book). It's UF.

I seem to have discovered that I like Urban Fantasy. I wish there was more twifics like that. (I recently read all the Patricia Briggs books, which were all fun, except the graphic novels - ugh.)

Any favorite or memorable misspellings come to mind? This one cracked me up. Enjoying story otherwise though.

I noticed he had a candle light dinner prepared for us, except I was the only one with a plate of food. He placed me in the chair, kissed my cheek, then sat across from me. "Bon ape tit," he greeted.
That looks like something AutoCorrect would do. I always get a good laugh when they misuse words like that.

I finished Freeway by whiterosenova and it was pretty good. I would say 3.75 stars. Sp&G were pretty good, just the odd small word missing, like "he". I would rec' it. I started Relentless by Stilldreaming85. Enjoying it so far and I am probably going to do a re-read of Drotuno's Gravity series after this.

So, I finished Bella Swan, Kidnapper.  Always a good reread.  Now I am starting My Life as a Trophy Wife by jennaray.  It still shows as incomplete, but people tell me it is pretty much done. I will let you know.  ;D

Okay, just checked the last chapter and it says one more chapter to go.

one chapter left? Really? Dear author. Just finish the dang thing. Please.

Also, didn't notice before that you'd lost your mother, I know that times like that it's a mixed blessing that they aren't in pain, but the pain of loss for you still hurts. HUGS.

Have you read Richelle Mead's Dark Swan or Succubus Blues series? I read it around the same time as Patricia Briggs. Oh, and its YA, but The Morganville Vamps was also a series I enjoyed around that time

I really liked the All Souls Trilogy, I wish she would continue it.  I think it was Demaris who recommended it.  I have to load my reader up for my summer trip, I'll most likely not have time to read, but its always better to be prepared, I just have to go back through all of the sci-fi/witches series recommendations that have been provided recently.  Also if anyone has any good Alaska or Disney themed recommendations, I'd appreciate those too.

Thank you for your condolences.

Although the news likes to amp up the storm warnings and spring storms can become dangerous, we didn't have any trouble here.  No heavy rains, no dangerously high winds.  We're now having gorgeous weather with cool temps in the morning and higher (but not awful) temps in the afternoon.  Winter was mild so we're expecting a brutal summer, but I hope that won't really kick in until sometime in June.

We'll be moving my oldest son t Pennsylvania in August to start his college career.  I'm sure it will be just as hot there as it is here in Texas, but without the widespread air conditioning.

So, my mother recently passed away. It was good. She had pancreatic cancer and dementia. The good thing was her short term memory was mostly gone, so she never remembered being in pain. Near the end she thought she was in a "home," though mostly she remembered us. She would ask if visiting hours were almost over.  But her quality of life had been getting bad the last couple years. Her arthritis made it difficult for her to do much and her memory loss made it hard for her to follow things like movies or books.  I will miss her though.  :'(

Ella my sincere condolences in your sorrow

This time is for me too really difficult.

The first anniversary of my mother's death comes soon.
Still it is really hard to believe that the mother is no longer here.
Mom's condition went so fast really bad, that the thought that the
mother dies soon ….

So sorry for your loss, Ella.  In the last two years, we've lost my dad, my mom, and my husband's dad.  But, my mom and dad lived to be 81, and my husband's dad was 95, so they all had long lives.  The grief comes in waves, is particularly hard at the beginning, but does reach a manageable point.  Hang in there.  We'll add you to our prayers.

Ficfangirl you are right. The grief comes in waves.

Last year my mother (age 69) died, year before that, my mother’s oldest brother ( age 80) died.
The last three weeks I've been in two funerals.
Mother's childhood friend husband ( age 73 ) and last one [ Friday ] … My brother's wife brother (age 37).

I'm very sorry for all your losses,  especially your brother's wife. 37 is to young. Though 69 is too young as well. My mother was 89, with very bad arthritis and short term memory loss. Her quality of life was not good.  She was given 4 to 6 months in November. She lasted just over five months, all at home as she wanted. And we all visited regularly so we all got to say goodbye.  I think it made it so much easier for us.  It must have been hard to have no expectation that your mother was going soon. :(

We do have a few slash fans here, although I don't think they limit themselves to Twific.  You might have better luck on this thread (although, again, not limited to Twific): You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I do read tons of slashfic, but there never was as much Twific slash, so I didn't get particularly into it. Now, if you wanted Teen Wolf slash or Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy slash, I'm totally your gal!

My other suggestion is that you put "slash" in the search box, change the parameters from entire site to this board and hit search.  That searches the entire fanfiction board so you'll get other types of fanfiction, but you can then just check out the Twilight threads.  Just remember, when you get your search results there is frequently some blue numbers over to the right side of the search result, that means your search terms appears more than once on that particular thread.  You'll have to click on the blue numbers which will then give you the posts on that thread with your search term.  Good luck!

Anyone else notice that they haven't been getting story updates from ff.net? I noticed and did a mass update and had 19 stories that needed updating that I was never advised of.

It's been going on for about a week.

My alert list doesn't have accurate update dates either - so it is of limited use.

The only reason I notice was because I had the same story from another site and the author always updates both but I was only seeing updates for the one. At first I just updated the other story manually, but then had the thought that the other stories I have probably aren't updating either, so I did the mass update. What a pain in the a$$!

Most of the updates I get are for stuff I am not reading, so I have been ignoring the updates. But I noticed when I went to read the last Torn update that I missed a bunch of chapters.  And that is one I usually read.  However, this last year has been a little crazy for me between traveling for work and visiting my mother who lived about 400 miles away.  So I figured it was just me.
