Regarding story alerts for FFN, I don't know if this will help but on my FFN profile page it has Email Opt-In section where it says

no, I am registered on yes, for emails, I contacted ffn to report the problem and they told me that it is my email that is rejecting my emails, my provider says that there is no reception problem, moreover a month ago, I received the notifications for a day before disappearing again, the problem obviously comes from ffn, thank you anyway,
