Even When They Lie, Women are Noble
« on: October 20, 2012, 04:50 AM »

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "My dear child, why are you crying?"

The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family.

The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with pearls. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

The seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver thimble ringed with sapphires. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

Again, the seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord reached down again and came up with a simple leather thimble. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

The seamstress replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water. When the seamstress cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, "Why are you crying?"

"Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney. "Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.

"Yes!" cried the seamstress.

The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes' to George Clooney.

And so the Lord let her keep him.

The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it's for a good and honorable reason, and is always in the best interest of others. That's our story, and we're sticking to it.

Why women (or people who aren't taken seriously) lie
« Reply #2 on: November 11, 2012, 02:16 PM »
First of all I don't know if the Lord would have gotten angry (furious) - he might have gotten sad and disappointed because she lied to Him, but He also would have known what was in her heart so I think He would have been more understanding.  The Lord is like that. ;)

Second, the lady didn't know if the Lord would have given all three men to her or not (and she could have refused them if He had - though she might be ticked off at her husband and maybe wouldn't have wanted him back.  Men can do that to us {tick us off} sometimes! - lol

Third, it's always a good idea to be honest with the Lord as He always has our best interest at heart and would never do anything to hurt us in any way. :)

Fourth, sometimes we lie to people because we're initially honest but sometimes (especially when dealing with some men) they don't pay attention to what we say and how we feel.  At first, I always try to be honest.  Then if I'm dealing with someone who doesn't respect my wishes, I usually then tell them what they want to hear and then I do what I want anyway.  Later on, if they say: "Hey you said..." I tell them, "Well, I told you the truth in the first place but you ignored what I said.  Now the next time I say no {or whatever it is}, please respect what I say.  If I say something, it's for a good reason."

Which bring us back to what you said, jessica_n3; when we lie, it's for a good reason.
