What is your pet peeve?
« on: December 05, 2012, 12:32 AM »
My pet peeve is when an uploader doesn't put the author - title in the file's name (but puts abbreviations, letters/numbers, etc. instead) when it's not a zip or an rar file.
If the uploader feels it will prevent someone from finding (and reporting) the file, I don't think that's going to happen because they can search a forum like I did.  If I'm able to find the title/author, I'm sure others can too.

When the correct author - title isn't used in a file's name, we have to:
go back to the post and copy the author and title
go to where the file downloaded to, on the computer
right click to rename the file
then paste the correct information.

If I don't, it's impossible to search and find the file.  Countless times I've:
searched my computer for a book
didn't find it
downloaded it
then when I made time to rename downloaded files with incomplete names, I found I already had the file.

I know of sites just like that.  I like reading blurbs myself.  I get very tired of people who put THEIR opinion of the book in the place of where a blurb should be.  I know of one offender who does this repeatedly.  And the site is a link site but only allows a few to share and those who share get paid per downloads so I wouldn't say that was even sharing.  They are after the money.

I like to preview the book like I would at a bookstore before I buy and I detest linkers who make money off the fact I am looking at a book.  I just found a great author that way and bought it on sale at Amazon.  And after reading the first book I bought the second sight unseen because he was so good.   He actually made money from me he would have never got without the chance for me to look at his book.  :)  But the blurb was well written and not what the silly person thought about the book.

Our problem with all of that solved since we don't allow sharing on this site anymore.  Actually sort of a relief.  We have enough to keep us busy.
