Hi Anams! So what exactly are you planning to do? Do you want to transfer to your pc ePub and/or PDF files that you've d/l directly from Safari on your iPad and is now stored in your iBooks library? Or is it something else?

If it is the first scenario, then you just have to connect your iPad to your PC using the USB cable and open up iTunes. iTunes will sync automatically additional books that you've had in your iBooks library since your last sync. And you can view the ebooks in windows explorer by going to iTunes media folder then to Books folder and if your ebook has metadata stored in it then to the author's name folder. If it doesn't have metadata in it then it is simply stored in the Books folder.

If you have Kindle mobi files as well you can access it through iTunes as well. click on the 'Apps' tab on the right column in iTunes scroll down and you will see the apps where you can add or remove files on, click Kindle and all of your mobi files stored in your Kindle for iPad will be shown there. You can either save your files stored there on your PC or add new files to your Kindle app.

Hope this helps if this is the one that you need help to.

Hi Parvati24

I also would like to backup my books from my I Pad 2 to my PC and I have read horror tales about how iTunes loses them or makes them all blank (showing my computer illiteracy badly)  I would die a thousand deaths if I lost my books, do you know if this does really happens and is it possible?  Thanx for your input.

Sorry, can't help you with that. I can only speak from my own experience and so far, it hasn't happened to me. Actually that's the first time I'd heard any of that.

If you're really cautious about it, then I suggest to back up your files using the Dropbox app. What you do is download Dropbox to your ipad then set up an account upon first opening the app. After that you can upload your downloaded files using Dropbox. After you have downloaded the ebook, there is a left button that says Open In... Click that and choose Dropbox from the selection. You will be automatically forwarded to the Dropbox app and there is a pop menu which ask you where to save the file. (You can create customized folder in Dropbox.) Click Save button and voila! Saved! You have to install Dropbox software in your pc in order for you to access the files in your pc. This works for your future ebooks. As for those already stored in your iBooks, you have to re download them if you want to back them up using Dropbox.

I used to use Dropbox but now use Box.com.   It sets up the same way Dropbox does and syncs books automatically.

Right now you get a free 50gb acct with Box.   I have opened 4 different accts with 4 different emails and now have 200gb free cloud storage for my books, photos, and music.

Here's the link - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Don't know why the comments say it isn't 50gb free because I got the 50gb ones free.  You try and let me know if it doesn't work and I will delete this post if it doesn't.

Here's a direct link to Box.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
