If this has been posted before I apologize, but after some serious frustration, time spent searching the forum here, and time searching Calibre forums and the Internet I found what I was looking for by piecing it together from multiple threads, and wanted to share in case anyone else needed this fix as well.
There are several authors with "World/Universe"'s. A book can belong to a single series but be part of a larger world, now being OCD this creates havoc in my Calibre when downloading metadata.
For Example Donna Grant's Dark World, or Kenyon's Dark Hunter Universe, contain multiple series of their books.
In Calibre it is possible to create Custom Columns
so, I have left the Series column for the original series the book was written in, and am using the Custom Column which I have named World/Universe to display that order. You could also name the Custom Column Series 2, for books that appear in multiple series, for example Anthologies. You can create as many custom columns as you want
Click Preferences, Bottom Left
First Row click Add your own Column
Click the Green Plus sign on the right
Look up name must be all lower case (world)
Column Heading is what will show in your Grid ( World/Universe )
Click OK
Single Click the Column on the main page
Use the Green Arrows to move the column to where you want it displayed, mine is directly after Series
Click Apply
Calibre will want to restartOnce restarted you should now have 2 or more columns for series depending on your preference.
If after the restart the column is in the wrong place simply drag the column where you want it on your library page
Mine now looks like this
Authors Title Series World/UniverseDonna Grant Dangerous Highlander Dark Sword 01 Dark World 01
** You can edit the custom column in the Edit Metadata Screen using the Custom Metadata tab at the top. I have yet to figure out how to get that column on the main screen, if anyone else knows please share, or if i figure it out i will share
