Orwell. Yes, I read it. Gosh.
Though in my defense (I feel like saying it) I wouldnt have guessed its not a personal date.
Phil this site is GR with fees? I thought it was like select a book and they will produce the ebook for me to read.
Yep. Unless you got a free account.
Basically the members are paying for the site to run. No ads no other unwanted goodies and from what I can see it beats Goodreads hands down on tracking cookies and beacons. You do realize Goodreads is tracking you right? The only thing I can see on LT being blocked is the twitter button and google.
I also like the fact I love the recommendations. They were broken for over half a year on Goodreads for me while they were saying there was no problem. Right. Sure there wasn't. I will give em credit. They did fix it right before Amazon bought it so I don't think they fixed it for me. I mean not that it mattered because the recommendations on Goodreads were so off base I was usually saying NO not "Now that is interesting. Let me read this."
I like the fact that it is user supported. They will listen quicker to the users that way. Goodreads doesn't have a great track record for that.
I've been unhappy with Goodreads for over a year. I am happy at this moment with Library Thing. I've got a year free to figure out if I want to pay them for this or not. Lifetime is 25 dollars. That's what gaming sites like Pogo cost a month. I'll know at the end of the year if it is worth it. I'm not losing anything. I can import and export books so all I have to do is generate a file if I want to leave at the end of the year.
The only thing I can think of that would be even nicer right now is a computer program that lets me enter the books I have in the library and it uploads to my shelf there automatically.
AND if you get bored? You can always join the 2nd annual edible book contest.
