Favorite novel to movie/TV series adaptations
« on: May 31, 2012, 12:21 AM »
Hi guys!  :)
Since one of Hollywood's favorite things to do right now is to adapt popular novels into movies or TV series. I thought it would be good idea to ask what your favorite novel to movie/ TV series adaptations are. It can be Ya/ fiction/ fantasy / romance etc..
I'd also like to know what upcoming novel adaptation are you excited about.
Which novel/novel series you want to be made into a movie or TV series.
Which actor/actress you want to portray the characters.
Which is your least favorite novel adaptation.

You could have more than one favorite or least favorite.

If people say they just love the smell of books, I always want to pull them aside and ask, To be clear, do you know how reading works?

I really like the Narnia movies
My Favorite are the Jason Bourne Series (The Bourne Identity)
The Princess Bride is another good one

**** Janet Evanovich is one of my fav authors, but the movie One For The Money Sucked big time. I was so so disappointed.

*****Jessadia, I am so with you that guy will ruin the movie. It just make me so sad.

That is why I stick with books. They are way better.

**** Butch I'm new here but let me just tell you, you have some really great Thread.
I love reading through them. Thx for the entertainment.. Better than a movie

Lord of Rings? - yep, Harry Potter? - Yep, Brokeback Mtn?- Yep, the Shipping News? - YepTrue blood? -  ???are you kidding me, the books are great & the series is great but it is nothing like the books - the names are the same but the characters are so not.
Chocolate - movie & film different but this time in a good way - maybe it's better because I saw the film before I read the book.
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - I thought nothing could match the original BBC tv series which was completely fab but the movie was excellent.
Truly Bad - The Dark is Rising Sequence, made into a movie called The Seeker - pitiful; as was The Golden Compass.
Worst Ever - has to be Troy with Brad Pitt as Achilles - I'm sure Homer (all 7 of him must have been rolling in his grave) Patrokles his cousin ??? ??? the Rape of Briseus a love story ??? :o ??? oh please - it was truly woeful. >:( >:( Kat
O I completely forgot about Troy it was truly awfull!

The ratings for the show dropped after mid-season it even though it seemed the rating were high. I'm happy they cancelled it to be honest, loved the books and the show ruined it AND Thomas Dekker was the worse Adam they could've casted IMO. I really hated this show and don't even get me started on Diana and Cassie being sisters, utter bs   :poo:

For me it's The Vampire Diaries even though after the S3 finale I was up in arms over Joseph Morgan not being there anymore as Klaus so I'm praying (seemingly uselessly) for a resurrection from the ashes :(

Game of Thrones and True Blood are my favs as well though I like Sookie more in the books than the show.

Don't worry from what I have read you are loved by all. Women are funny, if they didn't loved you or even liked you alittle, they would not mess with you as much as they do. You entertain them what more could a girl ask for.

Number one on my list is Lord of the Rings. Loved the book and movies.
I also enjoyed ...well here is the long list: Harry Potter, all Jane Austin adaptations, Poirot, Like Water for Chocolate, Gone with the Wind, Age of Innocence, Onegin, Dune, Forest Gump, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Little Women, Memoirs of a Geisha, My Left Foot, The Name of the Rose, movies made by John Grisham books, Les Miserables and Hunchback of Notre Dame,  Pretty little Liars. There are probably more :)
Loved the Twilight books but movies are just ok.
I also can't wait for Mortal Instruments movie and The Hobbit. What I can't mention is True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle because it's not close to the books. Or they made new books/ new author because of the series. Well it's just confusing. By the way I prefer Vampire Diaries series to the books. Books were boring for me.
I also like Underworld books that were written after every movie was out.

I liked Harry Potter... The books and the movies were excellent...and what I hated and made me so angery is BloodWork by Michael Connelly....I know that the director have to change a few details and skip some parts but to change the killer identity ... that's just outrageous >:( >:( >:( >:(

Smile…It confuses people..!!

Ashmarie - there speaks a girl who hasn't seen the film. Yes, the eyecandy was good but OMG they played fast & loose with the original story - I mean really, rape = love story?  :Ponly in some twisted bloke's fantasy :P. The acting was as wooden as the swords they used, possibly because the script they were given was the pits (not Pitt's) - how could they make such a mess of one of the greatest poems in the history of literature? I suspect they read 'The Illiad' for dummies then ran it thru a hollywood romance filter added a heap of big names and then stirred. Unsurprisingly the chemistry is all wrong....but don't get me started on what I really think.  :-X Kat. Can somebody invent a blowing a raspberry smiley please - I need one. Kat ;)
