Thanks for your prayers! Keep 'em coming pls. 4th day in the hospital now with my daughter. Worse, my husband started showing the same symptoms. How the hell can i handle 2 patients? At the moment, he's at home and we're waiting if his fever subsides otherwise he'll head over here for another round of tests (His tests were negative yesterday, just like my daughter's last fri). Already asked, just in case, but they wont be able to share a room bec he's an adult and my daughter is in pedia floor. Cloning sounds good right about now...

Does anyone have The Darkest Shade by Casea Major?  It's actually a fanfic of MOTU that was posted on fanfiction.net, but was pulled for publishing.

No but I heard about the book and its actually sounds way better that MoTu.  I'd say Karma is coming for ICY espically if this book becomes way bigger than hers.

I think those of us who were reading MOTU while it was a wip and then posted on her blog when it ff.net deleted it are a little more sensitive to the James' success.  NOT because she was getting published, because most of us were cheering her and other fanfic authors on in that aspect, but it was during that time when comments she made about her disdain for fandom and it's fans were being made by people she was working with initially to get the word out about MOTU.  It was really disappointing to find out that she really had no love for her fans and was just using the growing popularity of the twifics to gain some attention. 

Like I said before, it has nothing to do with her getting published.  I personally am happy when an author deservedly gets her work published.  Just my op, though.

I have to admit that I found it entertaining that ANYONE could claim that the Fifty Shades trilogy was substantially different from the MOTU stories.  Anyone who's read both knows they're almost identical, complete with typos and incorrect word usage.  Claiming anything else is just out and out lying.  I've enjoyed the stories both as fanfiction and the published incarnation.  But my attitude is that it's not great literature, just a fun romp and people across the spectrum (including the author) need to chill out.  By next year, probably only the people in the Twilight fandom will remember anything about the story or the author.

It was a bad fic about abuse who some thought was awesome when in reality it was not.  It had nothing to do with BDSM cause most in that community will disagree with you on that part.  BDSM is not abuse, she didn't research her subject at all.

I definitely agree that it's not literature at all in any way.  I don't even think it's well written and while I enjoyed it as fiction, it's nowhere near my list of favorites.  Part of my enjoyment was the anticipation for the next update as a wip.  I was so over MOTU before it was completed, especially when there were other better reads updating at the same time.

I'm not really into the BDSM stuff, but I liked MoTU because it was a story about a damaged man and the woman who "saved" him.  Similar to Nilla's Loner.  I couldn't care either way about the rest of it.  I don't think he was actually abusive as he kept trying not to hurt her.  Though he did have control issues that came out but she was able to show him there was a better way. 

So I do get annoyed about people complaining that it was about abuse.  You didn't read the whole thing.  Bella did not allow him to abuse her.  And the story was not as well written as I would hope for a finished novel, though it was perfectly fine for a fanfiction - i.e. I don't complain about the writing when it is free, but when you are charging $10, you should at least proof read it.  And the version I got was actually proof read, though the writing could be better.   :-\

Frankly some of the complaints I read make me wonder.  Icy left the story up for people to finish.  Unlike other authors who pulled with the last chapters incomplete so you have to buy their books to finish it.  Well, I could say more, but lets just leave it there.   ;)
