I was wondering if you guys could help me with one thing. I've read this book recently, Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, liked it quite a lot.  Perhaps you know if it ever was a twilight fanfic? It has that feel, and something at the bottom of my brain is nagging at me that that I've read (heard of?) something like this. If it's true, perhaps you know the title/author of that fic? And maybe someone could post it (if it hasn't been done already)?    I would love to check it out. Pretty please?...

Well, I don't see many similar plot elements between them, the only one that comes to mind being virginal status of protagonist (in the beginning, of course  ), but Beautiful Disaster definitely fits the pattern of college fics with innocent freshman Bella and manwhore Ed redeemed through love. I could even easily recognize a bunch of twilight characters, some plot elements (watching her sleep, please!...), figures of speech, etc. But maybe I'm just seeing things.  Anyway, I figured I'd check, and if you ladies on this thread wouldn't know anything, it's probably just my imagination. Going crazy from all this reading...

This is the only one I know of that fits that description.  It was Peter and Elizabeth though, not Char.

So I wonder if it's been plagiarized or what? None of the reviews say anything along those lines, I guess we'll have to wait & See.

I'll admit I haven't read it, but the reviews I read all said that there were horrendous spelling and grammatical errors.  I know I've been notified on a couple of e-books that I bought that Amazon had replacement versions available to earlier buyers that corrected those types of issues.  So maybe someone is actually editing the book and they will release a new and improved copy for those who still care about spelling and grammar.

I was thinking it was more about reviewers being a little perturbed by the subject matter concerning emotional abuse in young adult relationships. There were tons of reviews about Amazon directing them to the book through YA genre paths. Also, the author was fighting with many reviewers on the message board, which while hilarious to me and my roommate, was also probably rank to Amazon.

Awww see what happens when I assume ( I didn't read the reviews) & I've never bought a book from amazon before for my kindle, just hard copies. You and ficfangirl make very valid observations I would never have thought of. The author was actually verbally sparring with reviewers?

Yeah, I believe the five star reviews were mostly crafted by Jamie's supportive friends and family as my copy was also riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. Also, the story was scary and sad, not some great modern romance as proclaimed by the reviews. Nobody changes for the better, they get some tattoos and then get married as teenagers.
