Ugh. I've been reading/talking about this for days, and it ticks me off. Fanfic authors are talking about GR users reading their fics "out of context", whatever the heck that means, saying we aren't really part of the fandom for some strange reason, and a bunch of them have had GR admins remove listings for their fics, and thus, our ratings, reviews, and conversations that took place under the reviews.I don't really get it, at all. No uploading of fics was done, credit was given to the fic authors, and the reviews were mostly all positive. We shared the stuff we enjoyed. I don't get how sending more readers to find your stuff is a bad thing. I do understand the few I saw who'd had users populating the author profile with pictures and links ripped straight from their AO3 or tumblr accounts being pissed, but otherwise, I'm just so confused and hurt by all that's been going on. They link to their fics on tumblr and on blogs, but we can't link to it on GR?
Kinda late to the party but I'll like to add my faves too.Notting Hill, when Julia is in asking Hugh to take her back......I'm just a girl standing in front on a boy asking him to love her....something like that....so tear worthy.Another is Dirty Dancing....gotta love baby.I also enjoyed FB, one of my faves as well. Who doesn't love Han Solo...I actually like most of Harrison Ford's movies.Have a good week everyone.
"Nobody puts baby in a corner!" Love that line! Caught the last ten minutes -including that line on Sunday. So good. I forgot about the scenes from American President where he tries to order flowers. Then he finally gives up because "Turns out, I have a rose garden" so funny. Love Michael Douglas.
I know I've seen American President but I can't remember it.....Another for the Watch List....

See?! Told you! Singing Clint Eastwood. My dad loved Clint Eastwood and probably would have watched him reading the phone book. I couldn't appreciate that film until much later in life. I think it's the only musical Clint Eastwood ever did. (Probably Lee Marvin, as well.) I think that film was done in the fading days of the studio system when actors had to do pretty much anything the studios wanted them to do if they wanted to work.
OK, so I love one of the scenes at the end of "The Bridges of Madison County" where Meryl Streep is following in the car Clint Eastwood who`s about to leave the city forever and every time, every damn time I watch it tears are sreaming down my face and I always - though I know it`s irrational and stupid - always hope that she`ll stop him and tell him to stay.
I haven't watched Funny Girl and the movies Loopy mentioned First movie scene that popped into my mind was in True Lies. The one where Jamie Lee Curtis had to pretend to be an escort and dance in a hotel room for a bad guy who turns out to be her husband Arnold Schwarzenneger who works for the CIA (he set this scene up for her to give her excitement and finally admit he worked for the CIA). He had a co-worker speak in a French accent and taped it so he could give her instructions to dance and strip without her realizing it was him. Sooooooo funny. I love love love this movie! Action, comedy, romance! The scenes in The American President where Annette Benning made a fool of herselfa) insulting Michael Douglas not knowing he could hear herB) answering a phone call and making snarky comments not knowing she was speaking to the Presidentc) michael douglas trying to order flowers for her Famous line: "I am Andrew Shepherd and I AM the president"That was a very good speech! I also love musicals. the Sound of Music is my number one choice (know all the songs by heart) and next is Singing in the Rain (good Morning, good morning! It's great to stay up late)
This is so great, you ladies are reminded me of films I haven't thought of in ages! I loved Rhys Ifans as Spike, the scene when he goes out to the press in his Y-fronts "Chicks love grey" All his lines from this film are classics in my house..."I knew a girl at school called pandora . . never got to see her box though!"
OK, so what's going on with Reid and the phonebox? CM season 8....No! Don't tell me! Just wanted to ask out loud...
I love The American President. Michael Douglas and Annette Bening are wonderful in it.Back to musicals. I think one of the funniest scenes is from Annie, when Miss Hannigan (played by Carol Burnett) tries to seduce Daddy Warbucks in song while he's trying to get her to sign the papers giving him Annie.
It was me hon... OMG... I was *APPALLED*! My head was going to pop off and I was very vocal during the whole sequence of events!! Just reading your reaction makes me laugh... I was there with ya!You definitely weren't the only one. The entire theater I was in was shocked! You could feel the "WTF!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING!??! I'M WALKING OUT OF THIS SH*T" tension emanating off of everyone.
Carol Burnet was the Queen of Comedy. I wish they would play her old shows once in a while. Though that makes me think of Lucille Ball and then I think of Yours, Mine and Ours with Henry Fonda. The scene where they are making sandwiches for lunch. For 18 kids. Such a funny movie.
I can't remember the scene you ladies are talking about ...Loop your good at embedding vid can you see if you can find it? I don't fancy having to re-watch Annie this Christmas
Here we're being inundated with the Annie remake, right at Christmas time. But Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan cannot be beat. You don't remember her calling Daddy Warbucks her little billiard ball? And he just keeps telling her to "sign."
Just when I thought I couldn't love you anymore, I was starting to think I was the only person that's never seen them. You'll just have to wait and see.
No! I don't! How funny! Cos he was bald, right?
I LOVE that movie. I can watch it over and over again and every time I cry like a baby
I thought the vision scene was real too. I was very shocked when I saw it. I kept thinking that it can't end like this. Most of the other people in the theater thought it was real as well. Most people started laughing when they realized that it was just a vision.
