Is it wrong that I've never watched Funny Girl or the Sound of Music (or Star Wars) .  ^-^ ^-^

But I can quote every single line from The Panic in Needle Park and My Own Private Idaho, which turns out isn't very useful at all.  :D :D

I don't know why I so enjoy finding out things like this about you ladies...but it makes me smile huge! So thanks for humouring me!  :-*

Me too, I always always cry at the end even though I know its coming...when she sings My Man? Cue waterworks  :P

I think the ending in GWTW must be the most famous non-HEA ever...How do you HEA Fluffies cope?  Ella?  :D

I think Hollywood musicals were chick flicks before that word was invented.. ;D

 :-* :-* :-* Me too!!

I'm a huge baby too, so yeah.. its always waterworks for me too!

UGH! But the love story behind it... It just... makes me wanna strangle someone I love it so much!  8) 8) 8)
There is a HEA though in the sequel written by Alexandra Ripley (which I FLUFFING FLOVED!). Good stuff

 :iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

Lol, that's what my bestie and Best Gay said when they found out I'd not watched them.

As for Star Wars I've tried several times to watch the first movie and keep falling asleep when the writing appears on the screen, I never get past "A long time ago in a Galaxy far away......"    ^-^ :D :D

Yeah, by the end of GWTW? You didn't want an HEA.  Frankly all the characters were a little annoying.  Except Mammy.  I love Mammy.  And Prissy.  "Ah don't know nothing about birthing no babies!"  Though Scarlett did have her moments.  I really didn't blame Rhett. No sex.  What kind of a marriage is that?

And you are probably right about that.  My mom used to watch musicals when I was a kid on the old movie shows.  Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald.  They made a lot of musicals....   :D :D :D

I don't know.  There's that musical that I can't remember the name of starring Clint Eastwood (can you believe it!?).  It's a western, of course, and Clint Eastwood's character and another rough and tumble cowboy share a woman.  Hmmm...I take it back.  Maybe that was a chick flick, too.  But they take turns, they don't share her at the same time.  I wish I could remember the name of that musical.  Pretty risque for the day.

Funny you folks are talking about GWTW, it just had it's 75th anniversary the other day. I know it's wrong, but I loved that movie, it's still one of my all time favorites.

I have honestly never watched gone with the wind. But I have been to the house that the staircase scene was filmed in. It's one town over from where I live. It's  a famous plantation home that part of the civil war was fought on its front lawn

When I was n school on a Saturday afternoon when I was meant to be letter-writing I'd be in the old gym watching black and white films...and to really be having a good day all I needed was for Judy Garland to be in one of them. In fact Judy and Barbra singing Happy Days Are Here Again for the early 60s is my ultimate Youtube clip; my girlfriends says I'm too young to be so old  :D :D

Paint your Wagon.  With Lee Marvin.  Forgot the woman.  I saw it as a kid.  My Grandma got free tickets and took me and my sister thinking it was a G rated movie.  Was a little surprised that the two men shared the woman.  Katherine Ross? I think that was her name....

Oh! I know that film, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's about, you'd think I'd remember a singing Clint sharing a woman wouldn't you?!.....My mother loved Lee Marvin, I always thought he was rather 'funny' looking...

From IMDB -

A Michigan farmer and a prospector form a partnership in the California gold country. Their adventures include buying and sharing a wife, hijacking a stage, kidnaping six prostitutes, and turning their mining camp into a boomtown. Along the way there is plenty of drinking, gambling, and singing. They even find time to do some creative gold mining.

I don't remember much about it.  I did enjoy it, but I'm sure much of it was over my head LOL!

See?!  Told you!  Singing Clint Eastwood.  My dad loved Clint Eastwood and probably would have watched him reading the phone book.  I couldn't appreciate that film until much later in life.  I think it's the only musical Clint Eastwood ever did. (Probably Lee Marvin, as well.)  I think that film was done in the fading days of the studio system when actors had to do pretty much anything the studios wanted them to do if they wanted to work.

This is me too! I spent my preteen/teen years always watching old movies. AMC network was my favorite! I'd tune it on the tv, and sit with homework every night, and weekends. Good times ;)
I was so irritated when they started having commercials, it used to be commercial free back in the day... main stream does that I guess.

This is why I keep my 2 french presses and an old-fashioned Pyrex stove top perculator instead of giving them away. The perculator is almost an antique. But it does make good coffee. It just doesn't keep it warm  unless you leave the stove on. And my husband kind of freaks out when I use it.  He likes the coffeemaker.

You`ve  got that right! I never could understand why...It`s not like they didn`t have money for good make-up and hair artists. Was it lack of taste maybe?
I always wondered the same thing about the wigs and makeup.  It blew my mind how awful the wigs were.   Oh and I can't remember who said it but when they had that vision sequence at the end where Carlisle was killed I nearly fell out of my seat...   Don't ask me why, but I did NOT realize it was just a vision and I had heard people mention that the end was different from the books so I thought maybe they had really changed things up and I was SAD!  Then, when Edward almost fell in that giant crevice I swear I think I may have rolled around the theater floor sobbing because I thought it was for real.   Turns out I'm the only person that didn't realize it was a vision, but what can I say, I was really in the moment!   (ok, I didnt really sob in the floor, but I did sob in my seat)

Help please. If Beautiful Bastard is The Office by tby789 which I have read as a FF, what are the rest of the books in the BB series? Are they standalone

Thanks  :-*
I've read Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Player and Beautiful Stranger...  I liked all of them (each book is about one of a trio of guy friends) but I adored Beautiful Player.    I thought BP was just almost perfect for a book from that genre (contemp romance).

Ok so it's not The Office spread over 8 books. That's good, just checking. I'm weary of FF authors taking their FFs and trying to wring every last penny they can out of them...I never read the FF version of Gabriel's Inferno but I thought the first book was just fantastic, then the second book was just so so and I'm now reading Redemption and it's so weak I can barely fathom that it's by the same author! I'm struggling to finish it to be honest, so sad  :(
So, you know how much I love The Bronze Horseman...  well, I felt almost as strongly about Gabriel's Inferno and I even loved Gabriel's Rapture (book 2).     I seriously loved them so much that I didn't think anything could ever knock them out of my top book spot.  Well, then along came Alexander & Tatiana and they dethroned Gabriel.     Anyway, my point being that I was so excited about Gabriel's Redemption (Book 3).  I even took the day off work so that I could devour the book the moment it was released.   I was so disappointed in book 3.   I mean, it was ok, but the series would have been SO much better without it.   Kinda bums me out just thinking about what a let down that book was for me.    ;D :'( :D

Oh and I read Gabriel right after I read 50 Shades of Gray and didn't realize that it was fan fiction either.
