i've been working on a spredsheet of the ficslisted and shared on this thread. i began doing it for myself (halfway between madness and boredom) and then i saw that several people were working on a similar list for the first thread. well, i didnt restart what i was doing, so it's not the same format, BUT it is an excel spreadsheet with a list of everything shared on this thread, which makes it easy to do search and find the fic you're looking for, so, i decided to share it here if anyone is interested. it's still a work in progress, but it's basically up to date (finally)

I saw this post and found that my 12/2011 PDF copy is 1465 KB but the the copy I redownloaded from FF.Net today is only 901 KB.  Both using FlagFic, same number of chapters, pages, date updated, etc.  If Flagfic gave the number of words that would give a better picture of whether a fic has been edited.  Does anyone know why the file sizes would be different?  Thanks!

I think there have been some updates and a new 'grabber' to make everything more efficient which could mean that the file sizes are now smaller. Other than that I don't really know. Have you checked to see if there has been any editing?

@Monamour I totally see where you're coming from, but I just prefer original fiction (although everyone has his source of inspiration )
(A wild guess: You have already talked about published FanFiction a thousand times. Well, I'm new around here, I had to put this of my chest )

I know it has been discussed on here a few times, but absolutely no idea how often.

Spending a great deal of time in hospital I miss huge gaps in conversations. When I return it's too difficult to search through 20-30 pgs on each of the threads I follow, so I try and pick-up where the conversation happens to be at the moment.

It's also why I don't always respond to queries on my previous posts. My hospital excursions are very rarely planned, they are usually a spur-of-the-moment occurrence, unfortunately.

Talking about MOTU and University of Edward Masen, I need you opinion. Should I read them?

I've already read the entire Fifty Shades trilogy and from what I hear MOTU isn't all that different. (Although some say it is better?)

I abandoned Gabriel's Inferno after reaching the middle of the book (I think). It was just a bit too emotional/angsty all of a sudden and I just wasn't in the mood I guess.  Do you think it would be better to continue the book or read the FanFic instead?

As to whether you should read MoTU and/or UoEM: I enjoyed them both immensely; as well as their published counterparts. But then, I also read books I fall in love with more than once. So, I do not have a problem reading a FF I love & it's published version and fully enjoying them both.

Besides MoTU/50shades and UoEM/GI&GR, I've also read Poughkeepsie and Crushed Seraphim by Debra Anastasia/MrsTheKing and absolutely LOVE THEM as well!!

Regarding UoEM: I would say, if you left GI before you were even half finished, you probably will not enjoy the FF. The writing style and  plot remain the same.

On August 7/ August 8th, 2011 the file sizes on flagfic were reduced.

And again in April 2012 Steve started using jpeg instead on png for the pdf covers and the file sizes were reduced drastically.

The format used for cover images was changed from PNG to JPEG on April 15th, 2012. As the JPEG images require less space to store, this resulted in a significantly smaller file size - in most cases, stories which use a JPEG cover image are around 600KB smaller.
