I've been reading Harry Crow from a while now and i like it. I find that it twists the story in a very interesting way.  But it's quite different than any other Potter fic that I've read.  It is a Harry/Hermione pairing though.  But I like that so....

I agree.  I am enjoying it and cannot wait until Umbridge gets hers.

That's another story I like a lot.  It mixes Native American cultural aspects along with the typical Harry Potter magical elements.  It may be a bit controversial with how prominent it's used as a plot element, but I think it's well done, regardless.

And it's not for me...

My son (11yo) is extremely bored and fed up with his English lessons at school. Not because he is that good, but because the books and topics are that bad and not age appropriate... The last text in the book was about Elvis Presley! (Elvis who? was his question, and: who cares?)

And since he has now a kindle, I thought perhaps you could help me?

He is a huge Harry Potter an, read all the books (in German of course...) and listened to all the audiobooks.

Reading the real books untranslated is of course way out of his league, but I thought perhaps there are some HP OSs out there that we could try?

They should be canon, very G-rated, no kissing or anything realtionship related (thats too gross  ) and of course well written SPaGwise, so he doesn't learn wrong stuff...

Are there some of these out there?

There is a german OS where Snape gets some Happy potion from Dumbledore on Halloween and has no choice but to be nice to the students for one day - hilarious! So something like that?

I'd be happy about any link you could give me!

How old is he?  This is full of high adventure.

I am reading and rather enjoying a Harry/Hermione fic at the moment which is different and a little "boys own".

I have read  K rated HP fics but none spring to mind at the moment.

He's 11, so your suggestion is way too advanced for him...

But I'll keep it for myself, sounds interesting 


I just thought, many authors tend to write silly little OSs on the side, right?

I know you're looking for something in fanfic to help him learn English, but there are some series that might be helpful.  Some books generally read by 1st and 2nd graders here in the US are The Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne.  The Secrets of Droon books by Tony Abbott. The books in both series are usually a little over 100 pages, with a magical plot line.  While they would be below his reading level in German, it might be a good starting place for English.  My son is 10 and is enthralled with A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett.  These are longer and more difficult, but popular with the kids.

What about the Artemis Fowl series? I loved those books, and now that I think about it I might actually go and re-read them since there's five more that I missed out on

A few HPRW though, just the idea of Harry and Ron feels so totally wrong to me. I dunno why, I like friends to lovers stories, usually.

Yeah, Ron and Harry together is just wrong. It HAS to be Harry and Draco! 

YES! How can it be anyone else? They had more tension between them in the books than anyone else! Of course that turned to passion, it only makes sense.
