Just finished and loved cannabean bethrothal.
Any Recs for a similar type e/b. (already read in your world)

Flove The Cannabean Betrothal (and In Your World too)! Unfortunately I don't think there's anything else out there comparable to tCB, and I would've rec'd IYW had you not mentioned it. The only other Amish-type fic that I would rec is Collide by Robicorn. Most of them are unrealistic and annoying (I'm of the camp that didn't like We Are Worthy.) Unfortunately, most fics that deal with faith/religion tend to focus on one of them being rebellious and being "saved" or "corrupting" the other.

There are a number of good arranged marriage fics, but most of them are mafia related, which don't relate well to tCB or IYW. The "lightest" of those would probably be This Life by Carano. Arranged marriage in an alternative reality with different societal rules. Over The Counter by TwiAddictAnne is an amusing and romantic arranged marriage fic worth reading (no mafia, but contemporary setting).

As an alternative, you might like some of the historical fics that deal with pairings not often considered in Western society today. I would strongly recommend The Mail Order Bride by Mrs.Brownloe (used to be LadyGwynedd before pulling and then reposting) and it's sequel Bear Valley Ranch. Nothing like getting married to your pen pal. ;)  Also worthwhile is Foolish Hearts by LyricalKris in which B&E are forced to marry through strange circumstances and have to adapt. A good read.

Thank you both! downloading we are worthy, mail order bride and collide.

Doesn't necessarily need to be religious-- but I find that they seem to be more in character or like they were in main books, and while I have enjoyed quite a few of the OOC ones (I did like This Life but they were  def OOC there), I want to balance with more canon personalities as well, and I have had prbs finding those.
For example, I loved them in Beyond Time by TKgel and Distractions by windchymes

Does anyone have any recommendations for stories that are:

Teacher and student, Edward/Bella

Bella goes on vacation to Europe and get kidnapped/tricked by the Voltaire. Then there's Bella/Edward after that.

Thanks!

While answering someone's plea for recs of paranormal books with strong women, I got all excited about non-fanfic again. Wow, there are some really great stories out there. Anyway, while snooping for links and such I found that Stephenie Meyer's You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is pre-ordering. It's not Midnight Sun, nor is it a sequel to the Host :tear: . I'll probably read it anyway. From the library.

Is it a Britishism to spell the present tense of choose as "chose"?  I see this in Kristen Ashley books all the time.  I have been reading some Pride & Prejudice published fanfiction and am seeing the same thing.  I keep thinking of it as a misspelling since it's clear they are using the present tense, but in the US the present tense is "choose" and the past tense is "chose."  Can anyone enlighten me?

Hmmm, do you have an excerpt from KA's work on her use of the word? I recall she has a few "errors"  but it was a small blip in my brain that it didn't truly register...unlike other authors with glaring errors.  Am not a Brit but they, like the Aussies, have peculiar ways of saying/spelling things. I would have to agree with the American use of "choose" though.  8)

Sure.  :D  This is what I posted. The query had cited a liking of Mercy Thompson (by P. Briggs) and Kate Daniels (by Ilona Andrews) as well as paramormal or supernatural themes combined with romance.

Skipping back to the Windows 10 discussion, although I am not technologically astute in any shape form or fashion, my husband is making me upgrade to Windows 10 on both my desktop and laptop.  My laptop has been out of commission all f*(&&*g day due to this so-called upgrade.  My husband says the secret to short-circuiting some of the conversion issue to to install it twice.  I guess because it's such a large file, the first installation skips things, then the second installation fills in the gaps (this is my layperson's understanding of what he said).  So, you might try that before you give up on it.

It's been on my desktop for a couple of weeks, but I haven't used it much since my youngest child is always on my computer.  I've been using it today and have gotten a little frustrated with navigating around it.  I now don't know how to do some fairly simple things that I knew how to do on the last version that was on my computer.  My children, who I patiently taught to walk and talk, have no patience when working with me on my computer issues!
I put it on one computer that is basically a fancy tablet.  I will not put it on any of my others.  It is a pain to use, and I like mobile devices.  It is really made for touchscreen computers and tablets.  It is not very useful for those of us who just want to use desktop apps and have multiple things open at once.  It prefers you use the Metro apps rather than desktop apps.

And? Maybe I'm too old for this stuff. LOL!  Wndows 7 was a perfect computer to me.  And? You do not need to upgrade to 10.  There is no reason for it as MS is supporting 7 until 2019 at least, and it is likely any Windows 7 computer you have will be dead by then.  But this is my opinion......  ;D

I was perfectly happy with 7, but my husband made me switch.  Having to re-learn how to do things pisses me off.

I haven't switched to 10 yet either, but my mom did and I was on the phone with her for 2 hours yesterday trying to figure out how to get her to download the ebook that I shared with her on Google drive. We couldn't figure out how to set Chrome as her browser, nor could we figure out how to find a Google Drive application for her to use. Actually, we couldn't figure out how to find folders/applications via system folders at all. I kept asking her if there was a search key or magnifying glass so she could search "my pc" or something similar, but that failed. She eventually was able to find the shared Drive folder that I emailed her a link to, but I'm not sure she'll be able to do it again without me walking through it with her. Maybe it was just a bad day. She couldn't figure out how to add me to her contacts in Gmail either, even though I'm family in Google+ (which I hate) and she had an email from me right there. It was a mess. I'm not sure if I want to switch. It sounds problematic.

because it wouldn't leave me alone. But I was wondering if you had any recommendations. I keep waiting to read Nalini Singh, but she doesn't finish her series, and I'm getting impatient. Same for Felicity Heaton. Grrrr.

I've just started using the text to speech function on my eReader, and I'm a bit torn about it. It's awfully convenient to listen to while working in the kitchen or playing games, but the mechanized speech is pretty weird. I finished up Carano's This Life while making dinner, and I kept glancing at the text because there are some Irish phrases and things. That was okay though. It was more amusing hearing Ms. Robot swearing without the passion you'd expect. Then I opened up Planet Twilight by melanieintn, which I had sort of abandoned as a reread. That was even more strange as it pointed out the choppiness of the writing. And let's just say the lemons that I would have skipped had I been reading were now just downright hilarious to listen to. Overall I'm left with a greater understanding of the audio book market even if I haven't listened to one yet. But for my fanfiction I think it still has it's uses, and I'll likely use it again even though listening to the writing points out mistakes more readily than reading it.

It keeps telling me that my free offer to switch to Windows 10 is about to expire, and I should hurry up and switch now!  I have no plans of switching, I just can't believe how insistent they are being.  I know I can totally decline the offer, but it takes less energy to just close the pop up each time it comes up.

I have been reading a bunch of pride and prejudice fan fiction recently, so I don't think I have any good published works to recommend, but I will think on it.

I found it really great for reading things like textbooks. That is, as long as there aren't a lot of footnotes.  I find fanfiction very strange with text to speech, mostly because of the author's notes.  They really mess up the flow when it goes from the story to the note without any change of voice.  But I do like audible books when I'm driving.  It can be much more enjoyable than listening to the radio, especially when it is all talk and commercials.

Most of the P&P fanfics I read I get off of fanfiction.net, there are some other more Austen centric websites but I find them harder to navigate.  I have come across the published P&P fanfics but I haven't purchased them.

Hi all,
I'm back after not being online for the first time in a fortnight. I was rushed to hospital last Monday after being ill for over week, I'd passed out as I was in so much pain and it turned out that my appendix had ruptured so I ended up having emergency surgery.
I was hoping to come home after 2 days of being in there, but had a reaction to the pain meds and antibiotics so ended up staying in until Tuesday.  :(
I'm still in quite a bit of pain and stuck on antibiotics for another 6 weeks, but otherwise I'm all good.

I hope y'all well.  :-* :-*
