Hey has anyone ever read the "A Vampire Academy" series by Richelle Mead? I pick up Spirit Bound at our local dollar store for $1.50. Beautiful hard cover novel. I haven't researched this series yet, but I don't think this is the first book in the series. It was the last copy they had too. If it isn't worth the read, I figured $1.50 wasn't a big loss.
I read the first one or two before I found Twifics. I enjoyed it. The series is interesting but not as good as Twilight to me. Too much war type stuff - us vs them. I don't know how else to say it.  Discrimination based on the type of vampire you are.  Or something like that.  As I said, I made it through 2. But I didn't feel like I was missing something not continuing.

What is a good fanfic that completes midnight sun
I think there are a few. But I haven't read any, still hoping SM will finish hers.

Bronzehyperion wrote one that may be good.

Yes,  vampire academy is first in series.  I love it.  Forbidden romance,  friendship,  and a strong and ass kicking main character.
It is different b than twilight  though so don't go in expecting same type of characters.
Imo the series gets better a it goes

She may do it for her mother.  I remember her saying her mother wanted to read it. ;)

It's been a while since I've read the series but it was pretty good apart from the last 2 books which I found a bit disappointing as you could tell the series was coming to an end and (I think) that RM had probably had enough by then. But they are still worth a read, just stay away from the movie as it sucked (pun intended  :P) big time.  ;D

I think this is wishful thinking hun.  :P I reckon she'll only ever finish it if her bank account dries up and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon.  ;) :D :D

I read them and enjoyed them, different vampire rules and other what not, but still good.  Spirit Bound is book 5 I think.

I agree with Loopy to stay away from the movie, it had a few good lines/interactions but that was it, buried in  a whole lot of bad.

I read and enjoyed the whole series, but wound up liking the spinoff series Bloodlines even more (though I haven't finished it yet). I agree with brandileigh2003 that the series got better and better as it continued. (Good description BTW: Forbidden romance,  friendship,  and a strong ass kicking main character.) There were a number of extras and short stories that filled out the VA universe well. Anyway, the Vampire Academy series was actually so addicting that I started reading Bloodlines straight away even though that series wasn't finished yet, which is something that I never do. Actually I plan on rereading both series again soon now that they're both done.

I think the last I read re: Midnight Sun was that mom asks for it constantly, but she's contacted to write sequels for the Host first.

P.S. I liked Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series as well.

Urghh, I've done it again. I decided I'd try another fic even though the last one I read was awful, so I started reading You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login which was a mistake.
Just another time I wish I could flounce as there are certain things about it that are starting to drive me nuts, like apparently Alice was in London but got stuck in Sheffield which is in South Yorkshire (which is nearly 170 miles away) and sometimes how Bella and Edward talks just isn't believable, I could go on but I won't.  >:( :P
Mini rant over.  :D :D

My first crossover! I was shocked that I liked it and contrary to the description, it's a B&E story. All the canon Cullen/vamp stuff, but Bella is a mutant vis-a-vis X-men.

Pure Perfection
By: Daphodill
Bella's very existence has been a secret. Her foster father showed her, from the moment they met, what love is. Through him, she gained a family and belonging. There are a few bumps along the way. This is her story - learning, growing, understanding who and what she is. Response to TWCS Isabella Creed challenge.

I just finished this, and its sequel, I didn't really like the sequel too much, but the first story was good and not too heavy on the xmen.  I haven't read other crossovers before, but I thought this one worked pretty good, and if you have seen the xmen movies then you would be okay with the characters, I think (at least the first story).  I was actually pretty surprised by the low review count for a story that really was okay (not perfect, but its fanfiction for a reason).

ROFL! This is how I feel when they drive from LA to San Francisco in an hour, which I saw in one story. They are over 400 miles apart.   And driving from Forks to Seattle cannot be done in an hour,  even by vampires. The roads are two lanes and winding with small towns and other slow traffic.

And? I wouldn't have known that Sheffield wasn't in London. But I so understand the frustration.  ;)

I wish we could drive 400 miles in 1hr as I would be travelling up to see my daughter all the time.  :P :P

That reminds me of another fic I read where Bella and Edward had to drive 250 miles and it took them 10 days even though they were both driving in 12 hour shifts, I swear they must of been driving Flintstone style for it to of taken them so long.  :D :D

I totally get that not everyone would know that Sheffield isn't in London, but if you're going to write something surely just Google it and find out.  :P

I would visit my parents more often if it only took me an hour too......

Maybe they were driving a pedal car,  Or a lot of bathroom stops......  because I can do 250 miles in just over 3 hours (yeah, I speed too much)

I actually Google when stuff doesn't make sense or if I don't know things.  It isn't hard.  And Google Maps is great for checking stuff out.

I guess being blessedly ignorant of some places helps in not knowing a blunder was made. If the setting was in the Phils., i sure would mind stuff like that. But England, i have zero knowledge. That LA to SF would have bothered me too as i knew that was a min. 6 hour drive.  :-\

So i just finished the After Dark series. Too long in my opinion. No wonder, the twific Isabella After Dark was 2,640 pages. But i was hoping it deserved that no. of pages specially since it was published. It was really not a bad read but it was just... meh. Again, no rush for you to read it if you have it in your TBR.

Good to know.  I only have it in PDF and though I can read it on my iPad, I haven't got past the first couple pages.  The writing is too small. :P

I'm rereading Masen Manor from drotuno.  I wanted a vampward, but didn't feel like going through all my stories to find something good to read...

Lol, they must of had bladders the size of a walnut.  :D :D
I need to steal you hun for when I go to my daughters next as she lives about 300 miles away and the quickest I've made it there is just under 4 hours, takes helluva lot longer with the kids and hubby in the car (obviously) and I can't afford to get anymore points on my licence (until next year at least) or otherwise I'll lose it (I blame other peeps driving way too slow for all my points as I had places to be and needed them to get past them  :P) .  :o ^-^

I use Google loads sometimes when reading especially Images when I'm reading about cars, buildings, locations etc I don't know.
Google Maps is my savour it's probably one of the most used apps on my phone as I use it all the time to check stuff.

I think that's why it bugged me so much hun. I'd be like you but vice versa having never been to the Philippines I would be totally ignorant about it unless I Googled it or asked my friends who are from there. I suppose we'll just have to put up with some peeps not bothering to check facts before writing fics or books.  :banghead: :banghead: ;)

I'm reading a published book, set at the university I attended, and the author thanks the alumni she talked to for research, but I'm not sure when these alumni attended the university because some things don't match up with my experience - but it is fiction, there has to be room for some creativity I guess.
