Oh come on, you gotta tells us which one. I did a re-read of The Vampire in the Basement recently. Love that story. I just finished reading What Happens in Vegas Doesn't Always Stay There by Weekittyandtat. It starts our slow, and IMO it dragged a bit. It gets really good for the last 10-12 chapters. I found this Bella a bit anoying. Gotta have patience if you are gonna read this one.
I'm reading What Happens in Vegas Doesn't Always Stay There atm, I'm so glad that you said it gets better as like you hun found that has dragged a bit even though it's definitely been one of the better fics I've read in a while. I've also found Bella a bit annoying, it really made me laugh when a couple chapters a go Edward was saying Bella was one of the strongest people he knows even though she whines and cries all the time.

Grrr. I cannot believe how ridiculous the scene I just read was. It was so awful that I don't want to mention the name. I mean I knew by page 20 that the fic would have some serious challenges given the SPaGs, the tendency to reiterate the scene/dialogue when switching POVs, and, well, the fact that Edward was fine when he learned that his parents and friends have been lying to him his whole life about his father's current leadership role in the mafia that he is going to inherit and that a marriage has been arranged for him and his wife-to-be has been moved into his room while he was at school. Oh yeah, did I mention he's 16?! Besides Edward's unbelievable non-reaction, what Don would move their little mafia princess out of state and into the bedroom of her affianced two years before the wedding? At 16 years of age? So, like I said, I knew there'd be challenges with this fic, but I was curious enough to see where this would go as I love arranged marriage/mail order bride stories.We're 80 pages further (one month later) and Bella is going back home to introduce Edward to her family, including her overprotective older brothers. Obviously they go to the club where the creepy dude is staring and Bella remembers him having been there during the murder of her boyfriend when she was 15. So, obviously, no one argues when Bella leads the charge to run after him. Edward dutifully says he will protect her (even though he has no weaponry nor has he ever been trained) and gets into the passenger seat. The overprotective brothers agree to a meet spot as Bella has to change:I changed into my light gray pants with my long aqua blue shirt that had was opened on my shoulders like a V and my light gray pumps. I had my hair down with a light gray headband on. Of course my vest was on; I'm going to have to talk to Carlisle about investing in one for Edward.Now the chase is on. Of course they catch up to the guy in the mysterious (because I live here and I've never heard of them) hills just outside NYC because she's going 140mph. *clears throat* Creepy dude slows down so Bella drifts a 180 so she's now driving in reverse facing him and instructs Edward to get the gun from the glove box and shoot the blue tube next to his tire that makes him go faster. Now, she makes sure he understands that he has to do it on the exact count of three because she's going to turn the car around. But this is clearly not a problem for a 16-year-old who has never handled a gun, while traveling at extreme speeds in the hills at night after the club because he has beginners luck and gets it in one shot. It's a relief really because after just one more turn, her overprotective brothers are lined up outside their limousine patiently waiting for them. Creepy dude shouts out a meet time and place for the next day and drives off without even telling them his name. The audacity! The overprotective brothers leave, Bella gives Edward a driving lesson in drifting before going home to find everyone is already asleep because, as Edward notices, it is already 1:45am. Why can't I just stop reading this? I'm only 25% in, and there's a sequel! What's wrong with me? It's preposterous, ridiculous. I mean it's truly fantastic and not in a good way. Ugh, where's Ellachanted and her vampward rec?
Which one is it? I could use a good vampward. I was going to reread Vampire in the Basement again.I'm currently pouring through Melanie Moreland's The Contract that was recommended here recently (Loopy?) and enjoying it. I'm pretty sure I remember that she's Edward's Eternal and this was a twific as I've replaced all the significant characters easily. Regardless, I like it. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed reading something new. I've been switching between rereads and several tbr's that I haven't been able to finish. I keep losing interest and not always the fault of the writing. My YA streak was revived though by the River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren. (If you have any interest in original fiction of an Italian American teenager time traveling to medieval Italy then start with Waterfall, and you won't regret it.)The published version is extremely close to the original, but in this case it enhanced my affection rather than annoyed me (as when I read FSoG).

Pretty sure I know which story you are talking about, and it is like a bad car accident. You don't want to look but you do, and then you wanna look away but just can't. Don't read the sequel is my advice. It isn't any better IMO.

I just read Distractions by windchyme and OMG. I loved the Edward and Bella in this one. I could kiss whoever it was that recommended it.
She didn't remember she got married because she was drunk on Jack Daniels. Supposedly whenever she drinks Jack, she forgets what she did. Edward had green eyes which he hides behind funky colored glasses, so she doesn't recognize him. Bella had put temporary black dye in her hair and spray tan, so he wasn't sure it was her. She was embarrassed because she didn't remember much of the guy who got her pregnant. But yeah, there are a lot of stupid stuff going on. And Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.[/spoiler][/spoiler]It was a little annoying and you wanted to shoot Emmett and his Mom. But mostly I enjoyed the story and actually liked Jessica. I'm not crazy about the bullying of Bella. But Edward is sweet.

I have a number of weekittyandtat stories that I really like despite the challenge of the writing. They have great plot ideas that just suck you in. In most cases, I've found it's enough to overlook the execution of the writing. I found that to be the case with justginger also. A fair writer, but a good storyteller.

Ditto, just deleted it.So, am currently in the hospital. Was rushed yesterday to the ER bec i suddenly had stomache pains that made me vomit and poop. Lost consciousness for a while. My family thought i was a goner. They had to insert an NGT to release the pressure in my abdomen. It was pancreatitis. So stuck here for a few days. Thankfully they didn't insist to reinsert the NGT when it got dislodged after a oughing fit. Man, i guess i was really out of it as I didn't remember it was THAT painful when they first put it in. But when they tried agaiin after a few hours, it hurt like a b*tch and won't get past my nasal cavity through my throat. I hope I won't need it again as after 24 hours of not eating, i was only allowed jello and some water. What sucks now is wearing an adult diaper.and cleaning up while you have an IV. At least the pain in my stomache in now tolerable. Sucks to be sick!
