I couldn't get the latest version of FFdl plug-in to load with the current version of calibre (1.16). I had to go back to version 1.13 of Calibre to get the plug-in to update. It still didn't grab stories from ffn. I got the same message everyone else was getting. Hopefully, they'll have a fix soon.

It's good to know the freestanding version of FFdl is working. Now I just have to figure out how to make it work on my computer.

Transcendence is unlike every other Twi fic I read, but fantastic nonetheless! But I like all of Shay's stories a lot. One of my favorite authors, because she and her stories are unpredictable. Everything can happen. Please tell us how you like it.

I had to start a second time with the Fallen Angels Series because I read the first book in between the BDB books. I hadn't expected them to be so different from the BDB books and couldn't get into them immediately. But now with distance to the Brothers they are really really good and stand alone. Each book is a little better. Book 5 is next after a little bit of Twi fic and Slash.

Is transcendence an HEA? LOL I just realized that it is the caveman story! Interesting.

I think you will like the ending. Of course, since it is set in prehistoric times and B has been sent back in time, there is the obvious ending but it is sweet.

I need Ella's help! Or anyone that knows how to work Calibre. I want to download some stories before I go home for the holidays but the FF plug-inn is not there,and when I tried to update the plug in it won't let me it just tells me to report it.

Doesn't anyone know what that is? Your help would be greatly appreciated if you can get me to download some fics before I go home.

I found that you have to update Calibre fairly often now. They did some changes to FFDL that needs a newer version of Calibre. That said, there were problems this morning. The program has been fixed but I don't know if it has made it to Calibre yet as the guy that fixed it is not the normal one. So he put it on the help page but he may not have authority to post it to Calibre.

All I know is it is working now for me. I will put stuff out on the Google Drive in a moment.

Okay, just saw Fanficgirl's message. I'm using the Windows 64 version, so I am at 1.14. I was having problems a couple weeks ago and I normally don't update Calibre regularly because most are things that I don't use. But the help thread had someone with my same problem and they said you had to update to the newest Calibre because some change in Calibre affected the FFDL. Whatever. I updated and it worked. So they were talking about making it so when Calibre has to be updated to make FFDL work, they would put a limiter on it.

So I guess if there is no limiter? don't update

If you have the correct ID, Calibre should be able to update the metadata via the FFDL plug-in, I think. So, you highlight the fic/fics where you want to have filled in the column, then go to FFDL -> update existing -> update metadata only. I seem to remember doing it that way, but that was a while ago, since my Calibre has reached its final appearance a while ago now.

And I got lost once more in tech stuff.
I rooted my e-book-reader and made a little Android Tablet out of it. I have now installed the Kindle app and 2 other ebook reader apps on top of the default reader. So I can read now every ebook available with one device and the 2 additional reader can read all my epubs aloud via headphones. I'm such a nerd...
But once one of these thoughts is in my head, I can't get it out. I have to test it until it's perfect. Takes time and a lot of trial-and-error, but I can't help it. And it's great once I've figured it out. Well, we'll see how long I'm satisfied now. There's still one app I have to try and then I can un-root it again.

Thank you. You just save me hours and hours of re-downloading a few thousands stories. I just recently added 2 new columns ( Category and Characters ) to calibre

1) Category .. so that i can separate the twilight stories from the other fandom stories
2) Characters ... so that i can separate Edward /Bella stories .
But i could not figure out how to fill in the columns for the previously downloaded stories . just tried one stories and it worked. Thank you ,Thank you, Thank you.

going to do the rest now.

When I first saw your question, I thought of a piece of music equipment that is used to limit the sound output. And I knew I didn't talk about that here LOL!

I don't know if you ever noticed it. I don't always update Calibre every time a new version comes out. Some of my plugins won't let me update until I have updated Calibre. They actually have a note there saying "requires newest version of Calibre" or something like that.

Thank you. I have never notice that but then I used to update calibre everytime. I now update when I feel like it.

Thanks for the rec on Ta Paixao - The Debt! A bit more angst than I usually prefer, but a well written and well thought out story.

I also wanted to rec a couple of others. RobzBeanie - Reason For Living. I thought it was pretty good. It had its moments, though Edward was often cruder than I like.

Thanks for the tip on Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happy Endings, I'll have to check that out after it's complete. I'd be curious for more insight into his character as it was a more unique Edward.

Transcendence was next on my TBR as a reread, but I just got sidetracked with Chloe Cox's latest Club Volare book, Savage Hearts. While not my favorite series, I really do like this series and how each book builds on the characters laid out in the previous book--even if each book can stand alone. I didn't even realize a new one was coming out so I'm really excited about reading it. Even though they're erotica, each has a good plot with well built characters. You are not allowed to view links. I finished Seattle's Most by mslizabeth earlier today. I thought it was okay. It took me a long time to get used to the writing style and I almost flounced because of it--it's written mostly in emails, text messages, journal writing, etc. I thought it was weird following the romance through second hand references for the majority of the fic. But it was sweet and had its fluffy moments. (Only the outtake is left up on FF as she pulled hoping to publish. I got the epub from Ella's library, but the pdf is on PTS).

hello im kind of new on this website so apologize beforehand if its the wrong place for my request.
im looking for 2 twilight fanfics which are both rated M and are ExB stories.
1. i think it was a really long one shot in Esmes POV, esme and renee are best friends, both get pregnant, during this time bella is quite active kicking her mum and stuff, while edward is quiet and very passive. when their bellies touch, edward reacts to bella, kicking esme strongly for the first time. I dont remember much of the story but it kinda continues like that they grow up togehter, till something happens bella leaves for seattle, and she is with jacob together but hes a shitty boyfriend..? im not really sure.
2. alternating POV between bella and edward, edward is a businessman (or just really rich, idk), hes distant, intimidating and known to be coldhearted.
For some reason, he needs to go to Forks and esme is PA or secretary and Carlisle a good friend or something. Hes friends with jasper and alice there. in the beginning Bella collapses/faints due to the heat and Edward brings her to the hospital. Both look for each other, Edward dedicates her a song, while bella goes looking in NYC. They meet again at the Halloween party, edward is dressed as an angel,
Bella owns with Alice her own shop, they create various stuff like costumes etc. on christmas there is civil war themed party at the hospital(?). Bella is described as strong and kind, her house burns down, before the plot begins her parents (or just her father) died, left were only snow globes. She had had a bad relationship with James who hurt her and stole money from her. James comes back In the end she fights against him while she listens to Adele in the background. im not sure but i think renee was also a bitch and comes to her just for money.
