ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Wow, E is still a big size. You ever considered getting a reduction? I wish I could loose a cup size or 3 with weight loss, but I had a mammogram done and found out that it is dense breast tissue, so that won't work. Some days it is just FML.
[/quote]

Like I say, they don't bother me too much, it's just bra buying that is a pain. I would be more frightened of losing sensitivity after surgery.

Well, I can tell you that I did loose some sensitivity from the surgery, but I was overly sensitive prior, so a bit of loss didn't really bother me. I feel that they are in the normal range for that now and I feel it was worth it to be rid of the pain I was in.

That's good to hear you didn't lose all feeling, and if you are in pain then it is a small price to pay. If mine were affecting the quality of my life then I would definitely look into it, but at the moment I'll leave them alone.

Ok, so I get up this morning and find a few of the WIP stories I have been following have updated, so I go to update them in Calibre only to find out that they aren't showing up in ff.net? Anyone else having that issue?
I just saw that ffnet was down. I haven't tried it yet as I just got up. :)

Yep, Tip of the Spear updated but when I clicked on the link it wasn't found, and when I went in to FF manually and searched for the story the chapter wasn't showing, I thought maybe the author had posted a duplicate chapter in error and pulled it , but it might be the system down.

FF.net having issues?? :sign0135:  that just doesn't happen.  :33: What is frustrating for me, is that there are other stories that updated after the ones I was notified on, and they came up, but not the earlier ones. :pulling

Ya, I can relate. In high school I was a 34D and I used to say that I could have 2 eggs and a piece of bacon on my face for all anyone would notice. I stood out, because back then girls just didn't usually have big sizes like that and I was in a small town which compounded the problem.

I don't blame you there. I don't regret getting the surgery done, but it was a painful recovery. If you aren't in pain and they don't bother you, there is no point in having it done.

ROTF You weren't joking about the bra size! Aww, 107 year old Virgin is on there, I loved her fics. Puddle Jumping was the firs fan fic I ever read, and I loved 8 days a week. *Sigh*  Wow, Loopy is a tall girl, I'm so jealous, I probably wouldn't look anywhere near as fat if I were 5.5 inches taller.
Woot Woot!! An another Brit to add to the bunch.  :)  :-*
I'd give someone some of my height for some of their boob size - I'm not greedy, just enough so I could fit a B cup perhaps.
Even pregnant, I've not gone up any in the boob department and you'd think after being on my 3rd consecutive pregnancy I might of.  :(
I'm even jealous of my 15 year old daughter as she's a 36C.

Seems we have another author joined the site.  She was really interested in the Flounced fics thread, gave her an insight into why people flounced, makes sense to check it out if you are a writer.

Anyway, I posted a reply with the link for this thread.  Hopefully she will come across and chat with us all.  If you are reading this Writtenbyabdex, welcome to the house of fun, or madness, depending on how you see it!   :D

Welcome to thread FIVE Can you believe it?
 :-* :welcome: :welcome:

I don't know if I am doing this right or not. I just discovered PTS today. I was fascinated with a thread about flouncing stories and posted a question there. A delightful member said that my question should be possesed here vs there, so here I am.

Original post: This is an awesome thread, and I am glad I found it. Thank you Rubydee for recommending this site. This thread has been an interesting read. It's been enlightening to find out why people flounce a story, even a popular one. Oh hell, who am I kidding, especially a popular one... I can not wait to see more posts to this thread.

In my case, I mostly flounce a story because I start playing with a new plot bunny and by the time I'm ready to share a rabbit, I've forgotten about the story... shameful, I know. But it is what it is, does what it does, and takes what it takes, right?

I'm interested to know if anyone has flounced, Through the lenz, Focal Point, or Home, not Home, Home...and if you have, why? I already know that there is a lot wrong with Through the lenz. I do, however, plan to go back and FIX IT and believe that your positive input will help.

I found more and more I did not like about it as I wrote Focal Point and had to keep referring back to TTL to make sure that the important points lined up. I also noticed that readers that reviewed in the beginning, stopped and I don't know if they ever came back.

I was overwhelmed with trying to write, have it beta'd and posting all at the same time. It was my third or forth attempt at writing a complete fic that wasn't junk. (I left my junk up as a reminder of how far I have come after not writing for almost 20+years) or leaving a story on hiatus because I lost the story.

It's easy when everyone is saying great job loved it blah blah blah, but until someone comes forward, like Babylopez did, it's hard to fix it.

Does that make sense?  :-*

lol.. I am reading it but talk about lost in the mall.. wow. This site is a trip. roflmoa. I THINK I posted to this thread. I so do not do well with change lol,

When I stated in the other thread that Through the Lenz was hard and overwhelming, I was not joking. 1 of my beta's had rl issues and dropped the story at the epi. They struggled with my grammar and word use and I did battle with my dyslexia. But the story would not leave me alone and I had to write it.  While writing just one or two outtakes, Focal Point, EPOV, took flight and I had to start all over again.

Then today, Ruby Dee linked this sight and I got sucked in. I read 37 pages of Why people flounce... I've gotten a thinker skin since I started, and though I still pitty the individual willing to take on one of my stories, my punctuation and grammar have improved dramatically.

Once my current plot bunny turns into a rabbit, I have thought about going back and Tightening up my original stories.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! lol

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Welcome, Writtenbyabdex!

Yeah, that flounced thread. I sometimes go there to find stuff to read. I tend to avoid angst, as for me? It is rarely written well enough where I feel something AND like the characters. The inner monologues tend to ruin it for me.

But most everyone else flounces the fluffy/funny/stupid ones, which I usually love.  So thats why we are supposed to say why we flounce it.

I haven't read any of yours yet. But my TBR list is pretty huge. And I think a few are on it. ;)

I like angst AND fluffy bunny stories! I only flounce the ones that bore me or the REALLY poorly written ones.
