  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Does anybody in here update WIPs via Calibre in big amounts lately? I did that for quite a while...start Calibre in the morning for updating my 1500 WIPs. It ran the morning, but functioned. It doesn't work this way any longer though. Somebody having this problem too? I wonder if it's now a problem with my PC. The guy from the FFDL plug-in told me, the plug-in isn't good for mass updates, but it worked quite a while for me. The only thing I changed was my antivirus program and I cleaned my PC from spyware and malware.  :o

 :-*

I use Calibre to update my WIP library, but there is only about 100 fics in it, and when I update normally the most with updates is like 8, and it doesn't take too long, most of the time it has to wait for me to come back and remember to enter my twcs password (yeah I know I can set it up so it doesn't have to ask, but that is only the to do list that hasn't gotten done yet)

If you are measuring bigger than you should be and the dates aren't off, could you be having twins?

That's what I was thinking. When I asked what measuring bigger meant the dr. Casually said that everything's ok and the ultrasound will let us know what's going on. I don't think he wanted my stress or blood pressure going up when we aren't sure yet.

Time has flown by, now that Christmas is over I have 3 months to do everything I said I was going to do before the baby is born, like combine my Calibre libraries off of two computers and go through all of my daughter's clothes to see if any of it is boy friendly (yep having a boy this time around, or at least that is what they say).

Before I got my new coats I was wearing my last fleece that still fit, and my floor length cape, I love my cape, but it wasn't very practical when I had to worry about it getting caught in escalators and that fleece wasn't going to zip across my bump for much longer.

Oh I have to go through all my daughters clothes too  :o that's about 11 tote bins. I think I gave all my neutral/boy clothes to my sister for my nephew. But I still have to go to her house and go through all her stuff.

A floor length cape would be a little difficult to deal with mines thigh/knee length so it's pretty manageable right now. Haven't wore a fleece in a while. I wear a lot of button up sweaters over tshirts. Even if they won't button they still keep the rest of my upper body warm  :D

I will let you know ASAP  :-* I still have to wait until January 7th (it's December 31st here) I figured the husband would want to be there. Since we work opposite shifts we had to wait for a appointment time when we both could be there. Plus he needs to sit with mini. I took her to my first ultrasound without him oh that wasn't fun  :o :D

hello Ladies,  I am back  :-*  :-*  I hope all is well.  I missed everyone I tried to read up on all that i missed but i could just not do it all in one sitting so it will have to be done in short spurts.

Welcome CougarofRob and Writennyadbex.  Astro welcome back,  Happy Birthday to all the ones I have missed  :-*.  All the Preggo's how are you all feeling?

Life is still crazy here just slowing down a bit  8) .  Christmas was great, kids loved all their gifts, although i did come to realize something.  My kids are spoiled LOL (My fault only I know  ^-^ )  I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season so far.

My darling husband got me a Ipad mini for Christmas even though i have a kindle fire which i love.  He said he was tired of seeing me squint while i was reading. So he got me the ipad mini because of the screen.  I just did not have the heart to tell him that i was squinting because i was being to lazy to get up and get my glasses.  So now my question to you lovely ladies,  what works best with Ipda mini's, Mobi, PDF ect?  I can download the kindle app onto it but is there a better one to use?  Does calibre companion work on the ipad?  I am not an Apple person, so please bear with me.

I have not done much reading lately kinda in a slump.  I have all these i want to read and I just forget to mark them and then i totally forget what they are.  ;D

Missed all of you....
  :-* :-* :-*
I have an iPad and an iPad mini.
Yes, I know I'm greedy but my iPad is seriously old and over used and dying a slow death.
I prefer to read epubs, but you can read - mobi (on a kindle app) PDF, Doc etc on there. So I love them dearly and will cry when my iPad finally dies on me.  :( :D

Gah, I'm feeling all discombobulated (isn't that a fabulous word??) I wrote a novel last year and have been too lazy to really send it around the publishing agents, but I've just pressed send to enter it into a contest where the prize is a publishing deal. I'm not very techno and don't know if I attached the pdf properly, I pressed browse and it was showing the title on the submission sheet, but didn't seem to look like there was a clickable file attached...Oh well, they've got my email to contact me if it didn't work.
Good Luck. :-* :-*

Me and my bump are doing good, 82 more days to go (+/- 10 days or so), and I am definitely looking and feeling pregnant.  Luckily I got 2 new coats for Christmas that now cover the bump, to keep us both warm (yes 2 coats cause my husband couldn't decide), although its been such a mild winter over here so far.

I'm so glad you both are doing so well! Time went by fast didn't it? Did you find out if your having a girl of boy? I have 106 days left give or take 10 days also. For some reason I'm measuring about 4 weeks ahead (it's not possible for our dates to be off) so I have a ultrasound to check everything out next week, I'm not sure what this means  :o I had problems finding a new coat, I couldn't find one that would fit for a few months. So my awesome mom bought me a cloak/cape for Christmas it has armholes too. The comfiest thing ever  :)
I can't believe how fast it's gone - I remember you both telling us you were pregnant.
I've only got 49 days left but I don't believe that I'll last that long as Saxon and Topanga-Sway were 2 weeks and 4 weeks early, so who knows.
Either way, I think I'm more excited about having my gallstones removed than having bump at the moment as at 33 weeks I'm still suffering badly with morning (okay, all day) sickness.  :(
Hope everything goes okay at your next ultrasound Andie :-* :-*
We'll definitely have to start a PTS creche on here soon.   :D :D

Thank you so much.   For the not so tech savvy which link for the stories do I use for FictionPad with the FF downloader in Calibre or in Flag? Also  you ladies are better than any tech support there is   :-*

Hmmm, i tried to download "how to live with a moviestar" from fpad just now and got an error from flag.

Anyway, this is normally how i do it on my ipad: i go to the fic i want to copy, once the page is loaded, i go to the top of the screen where the URL appears (it will just say fictionpad.com). I then click that field until the true url appears, select all and choose copy so i got this:
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
I then open another tab in safari so i can open flag and paste the url, select the format, then download. Once downloaded, again when you tap the page the icon on the top right gives you the option to "open with ibooks", click that and it is opened then auto saved in ibooks.  :)

It's 12:45am here, my family slept through midnight and all our neighbors fireworks while i was engrossed reading Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. Am halfway through and will likely not sleep until i finish...no different than how i would spend weekends/holiday eves in 2013...fitting that it brings in my 2014 as well.

I wish you all a Happy New Year!
May we all find the time to read more in 2014 and beyond!  :-*

Hmmm I'm not sure. Everyone predicted I would be the one in the family to have twins. Twins run in the family so I always knew it was a possibility. I'm just not sure how I would handle 3 kids under 2 1/2 years old. But the husband has already been talking about having one more baby after this one. But with how hard it was for us to have mini and we just got lucky with mini-mr I'm not sure if we could have another baby. So if it was twins it would take care of that hahaha

Heya hun, I don't really use the kindle app much on my iPad's as I'm not too keen on it so I convert through calibre.
I'm all good.  :)
I've gone back to reading books at the moment, but I have read and enjoyed:

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
So excited for you all.  Wow, Andimoe, twins?  That will be fun.  And work. :)

Sorry about your gallstones Loopy.  That must suck.   :P

Well it's barely 9:30 a.m. here in California, so a long time to midnight.   ;D

You guys always get everything before me LOL!

Calibre - I have been updating my WIPs about every week.  I usually do it when I can plug into my network rather than run off wifi.  It is very slow but doable. I get to work at home a lot, so I usually start it in the morning on days I work and check on it throughout the day.  I usually update about 1000 stories at a time.  I haven't done it this week though.  Actually it may be 2 weeks.... I should do it again this week.

Writtenbyabdex - I've always been told that any all human story is AU to the original Twilight.  You would think that vampire stories would be AU, but in Twilight's case, vampire is normal....

Twilighted - I normally read on my phone.  Hence my recent purchase of a Note 3.  BIG screen.  Twilighted doesn't have a mobile version, neither does TWCS.  So I rarely read either on my phone.  I just go there to download.  Twilighted makes me sign in every time I go there.  All the other sites remember me most of the time.  I have to sign in every few weeks.  AO3 never requires a sign in, which is nice.  I'm a member over at Free Writers, but I can't really figure out how to read or find stuff there.  They seem to have more other stuff also.

And? If you go to FFnet's mobile site, you can still copy and paste.  Even if you can't on the regular site.

Astro? Even if we went through 40 something pages without you, it still gets quiet around here.  You always get us talking.  And we notice when you aren't here.   ;D

Did I get everything?  LOL! Have a great New Year's Eve everyone!  :-*

Thanks for the good wishes Loopy.  :-* BTW, I love the names of your children, what are you planning on calling this one? You have my sympathy about the morning sickness, I was the same with both my pregnancies, in fact it was the reason I knew I was pregnant with Adam (whose name sounds very boring now LMAO) when I couldn't brush my teeth without gagging. I was queasy right up until I gave birth. I hated being pregnant.  :P

I like the name Adam, I have a brother and a Brother-in-Law called Adam.  :)
I know how you felt hun, I hated being pregnant with Topanga-Sway as I fell pregnant 7 weeks after having Saxon for her and morning sickness was a bit of a nightmare with her, and then a week after having Topanga-Sway
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I fell pregnant with bump, so never really had a chance to get over any of my pregnancies.
But I suppose there is 14 years between my daughter Chelsea and Saxon so this is making up for it.  :P :D

I'm having a another little girl but I'm obsessed with the name Thomas but the hubby won't let me call her that, so I'm not sure what we're gonna call her yet. But my hubby has chosen her middle name and refuses to tell me what that is so we'll have to wait and see what she looks like.  ^-^ :)

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I do understand the thing about feeling like you've been pregnant for ages. I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks, then fell pregnant again the month after and I can remember people saying "Oh, you're half way through" and I was like NO!!! it must be more than that.

How about Thomasina??

OMG, one of my other brothers and Brother-in-Laws is called Jack as well.  :D
Sorry about your losses.  :-* :-* Life sucks sometimes.
It was only the other day that hubby and me realized that I've been pregnant for practically the last 2 years!!
I'm so gonna have to buy a chastity belt and solder it shut.  :P :D :D

There's such a gap between the kidlets because I was 15 when I had Chelsea (with my brothers BFF) and even though we stayed together for 8 years in total we didn't want anymore children together as he was 8 years older than me and we were in totally different places.
I think that's why I'm with my hubby as he's 5 years younger and still more mature than me, which isn't hard to be.  :P :D
The hubby refuses to have any children called Thomasina as I tried with that one, but I've been calling bump Thom in the hopes that he might change his mind.  :)
