I've started to really like AO3. I love that they have a download button, so if I'm looking around on my tablet and see something I want, I can just download the epub right there. Plus, I really like how things are sorted there, it's much easier to narrow down specifically the types of stories I'm hunting for.

Hi Ella! Well, now that you have read one of them (and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I'm glad that the plot was enough to help you over look the other stuff) what did you notice that needed tightening up. Was it mostly grammar and punctuation or where there other area's that I need to look at closer? Don't worry, my skins gotten a little thicker then when I started. I'm asking for advice here.
Hmm.  The story reminded me a bit of that movie Angel Eyes? With JLo and the cute guy from Person of Interest.  You know the feeling, kind of a sad, tired feeling - that's what that story made me feel.  Not in a bad way.  Bella wasn't overly angsty or self-involved.  She was very factual, like she was done and just making it work.  I think that was the feeling you were trying to give.  Like her life was in black and white and the people she watched and photographed were in color.

There wasn't much of a love story, but for me? That was fine.  I don't actually read that many romances outside of twifics.  I like a good mystery.  So I enjoyed it.  There was enough clues that you knew something was not quite right, but not what until the end.  It was a bit of a surprise. So that is good.  You had an HEA, which was good. Really, the biggest thing were the spelling, grammar and missing words.  You know those ones that you keep seeing when you read it yourself, but are totally missing.  They are usually words the reader can figure out, but it's always better not to miss them....

And? This story could go to non-twilight fairly easily, as it is AU enough. I would dump the last two chapters though.  They were the Outtakes?  Sometimes I like outtakes and other times I don't.  I liked the Grandma Anne one.  But really, it doesn't fit in the story.  This is just an overall take on it.  If I were to beta it, I might suggest other changes.  But off-hand I can't point any out.

Hope this helps. ;)

I'm not sure I want to read the EPOV though.  It may change it too much.  :P

I always forget about AO3.  When I first got on it, the sort buttons worked really well.  Then they disappeared.  I still pull stuff from there every now and then.  They are like TWCS in that they have too many characters listed, which can make it hard to find B/E (or J/B if that's your choice - I'm talking Jasper)

I'll have to see if they fixed it.  I do like that you can download in all sorts of methods.  It's much better than TWCS print to PDF.

I think its time I just went to bed - I tried posting an answer Ella but for some reason, it didn't post.   Let's try this again.  I'm not into Jacob so I don't usually pay attention to Jacob fics except for light4dawn who loves the wolfpack and hates the vampires and Breaking Dawn.  She's had Jacob kill off Nessie the baby twice and for some reason her warped fics work for me.   I've had the opposite problem with ff.net - I find or did find it hard to move around and find stuff there when I could get in.   I have found TWCS but I'm trying to avoid it lately because I'm behind on my regular reading and have gone back to that instead of fics in order to catch up.  What I really need to do is get a new laptop sometime in this decade when I have some extra money.

LOL! My phone almost hit the wall last night, my posts kept messing up. And we won't talk about computers. The only thing I can figure is AVG just doesn't work with Windows 8. Im ready to go back to Kapersky. It's been very unhappy lately. Crashing and dropping all my Calibre libraries. I'll try to fix it tomorrow.

Just a reminder to fic authors in general (and you too Cougarofrob), don't forget Twilighted.  You can still submit fics to them to post.  Why should ff.net have all the fun?   I have an old laptop and an outdated browser that can't be updated and ff.net doesn't like me anymore.   I stick with Twilighted which likes my laptop.   I know some of you don't like submitting to a validation beta but the site is there - use it.   That's my mini rant for the day - such as it is.

I've never really gotten into Twilighted.  I am a member of TWCS and I've not posted there either. Posting on three sites is time consuming  enough.  :)

hello Ladies,  I am back  :-*  :-*  I hope all is well.  I missed everyone I tried to read up on all that i missed but i could just not do it all in one sitting so it will have to be done in short spurts.

Welcome CougarofRob and Writennyadbex.  Astro welcome back,  Happy Birthday to all the ones I have missed  :-*.  All the Preggo's how are you all feeling?

I love AO3 especially when it comes to other fandoms, but their Twilight archive is lacking, very few (good) authors have actually moved there.

I really like reading at FFnet.  I really wish they would get the stick out of their a** and quite being so um, okay, I'm not going to say it because it will sound really bad.

Oh Ella, I feel you... FF.net (unfortunatelly) is still the best factioning site out there. Too bad they got too high-maintance for us, normal people. :P

Good morning to all you wonderful ladies here!
I wish you a great New Year's Eve and a Happy New Year!

I'll spend the evening totally quiet with the hubs and I'm very glad about it. Our New Year's Eve Party got cancelled the day before yesterday. What a relief! We both weren't happy about having a lot of guests in our house, because hubs has to work today and so that would have been stress for him. So all is good here!

Does anybody in here update WIPs via Calibre in big amounts lately? I did that for quite a while...start Calibre in the morning for updating my 1500 WIPs. It ran the morning, but functioned. It doesn't work this way any longer though. Somebody having this problem too? I wonder if it's now a problem with my PC. The guy from the FFDL plug-in told me, the plug-in isn't good for mass updates, but it worked quite a while for me. The only thing I changed was my antivirus program and I cleaned my PC from spyware and malware.  :o

I added my copy.com link in my signature. It's my back-up library for my completed fics in case I lose my other places where my fics are stored. There are only PDFs in it and it grows from time to time when I download completed fics. I was told it takes a long time to load, but another one managed fine. So, if you want to have a look and can make it work, grab whatever you want.

I used to worry that all my rambling was the reason we were at Part 5 of this thread, but I would like the records to show that there have been 42 pages this month and this is only my second post!

Thank you all for the warm welcome back, and welcome to all the newbies here. Booked, I'm going to need you to send me an updated spreadsheet - just so I can get all the names right!

I met Writtenbyabdex on EBS months ago and even betaed a chapter of one of her fics - and am looking forward to betaing her next fic soon. It sounds like a really different, interesting fic.

I'm currently betaing You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login by MagTwi78. It's an Aussie Christmas fic, and I'm really loving it. Chapter 3 should be posting any moment now.

So much talk about boobage - and I wasn't there to join in! Because some of the moles that I had removed recently were on my face, I went to a plastic surgeon. I had a good laugh to myself imagining what everyone in the waiting room was there for. My boobs haven't been checked out that much for a long time! I'm sure the other patients were wondering if I was there for a reduction ... a maybe a lift!

I flew home yesterday and while it's nice to be home, it sure is hot up here! I miss my parents' house with sea breezes and a pool. I had a nice trip home - and didn't fight with Dad once! It was a Christmas miracle! Actually, he tried to convince me to stay for an extra week, but I didn't want to tempt fate, especially after the Great War of 2012!  ;)

I'm loving all the hot, tatted, buff Pretty manips that were shared. Here's another:

There's less than 3 hours left of 2013 for me, and I will be glad to see the end of a craptastic year. I'm celebrating by doing nothing at all - about to soak in a cool bath and give myself a facial.

I just might be the only Aussie over 18 (Who am I kidding? Over 15!) who is not drinking tonight - damn medication! But I guess it beats hiding in bed and crying my eyes out. My resolution this year is a little egocentric- not to take life so seriously and to be a little easier on myself. I'm also going to work on being more selfish - saying no to people, and not being a doormat.

I wish you all a safe, happy and prosperous 2014. I hope you all know how much you mean to me - this has been a wonderful place to visit and really has kept me sane (well, maybe I should say not as crazy as I could be!) throughout the year.

I'm not an author, but as a reader, my next preferred site it TWCS, as I am learning how to browse there.  If I don't know specifically what I am looking for? Fictionpad is useless.  I have the hardest time getting around in it.  And I really don't have time to learn more new stuff right now.

I don't really like Twilighted.  Partially because it is really hard to read on it.  I will download from there.  And everytime I look for stuff to read, well, it always seems like the writers there love Jacob.  And I find most of the writers of Jacob/Bella are teens.  So, not well written.

I really like reading at FFnet.  I really wish they would get the stick out of their a** and quite being so um, okay, I'm not going to say it because it will sound really bad.

Yeah, so, um *steps off soapbox and looks embarrassed at rant*  :57:  Yeah, that's about it....

I agree that ff.net is more user friendly to readers, aside from the control issues that they are having with lemons, etc. but Twilighted.net is a good site too. I have some pretty good EXB fics on my fav list over there. It is funny because I have noticed that sometimes a story will be on ff.net and no where else, and sometimes I find stories on twilighted that aren't anywhere else. If you only want EXB stories, just choose them as characters and filter, but the key is to pick the right category first. They have everything divided up in to crossovers, ah, au, etc. So if you want a vampward story, you would go to AU, and then pick your filters. It is really easy once you get the hang of it, and the best part is that they don't have the same issues with ratings and graphic lemons as FF.net.  Worth checking out.

Also, if you don't like the black background on twilighted.net, you can change it to white in your personal settings.

I haven't ever had much luck with AVG. I use Advanced System Care Ultimate. It has great tools for maintenance, cleaning and such as well as an antivirus. I don't know if it is compatible with Windows 8, but if you are in the market for a new program, it is worth checking out. I have used Kapersky before, and I have to say it didn't impress me. It always would just stop working/responding and I would have to reboot or repair the program. PAIN THE A**!

Advanced System Care also has a mobile app for Android as well that works good, and as far as I know, it is FREE.

I was wondering if this was you... I'M SO EXCITED THAT IT IS!!! LOL. You can blame (why does that not look right?) Ruby Dee, she drug me over here to PTS.  I'm in such trouble now lol.

I can NOT wait to start sending you chapters from this new fic...  I have had a few road blocks that had to overcome, and have, but now I'm stuck again.  :'( I thought I was headed towards the last chapter and Epi, but AxJ had a fit... they kicked ExR out of the story, and now they want, what they call, their time... and I just can't bring myself to start the process unless I know I can bring the story to an end.. (FRUSTRATED).

I'VE MISSED YOU!!!! :-* :-* :-*

lol.. Hmm, Actually, I've never seen the movie Angle eyes and searched for the trailer...Wow, that's my kind of movie.. have to see if it's on netflix or if dh can find me a copy.. It looks AWESOME.. (did you hear the virbration in my voice), and I had to look up the word factual. ^-^ . And the black and white vs. Color thing is about right. That's about what I was going for. (Originally it was suppose to be a love story, but it took an ugly turn and that is partially why I don't try to write and post at the same time anymore. Hiatus is another one,)

I'm glad the ending was a bit of a surprise. Several said, they didn't see that coming. *snickers* A few were even furious with me because they wanted to be hate him, and I made him redeemable. The last few chapters were in fact outtakes and didn't make the cut to be involved in the story. I only posted them as a courtisy to a few faithful readers that wanted to know, and that is why they are at the end.

Unless, you really what to know what was going through Edward's head, and why he was nice one time and an asshat the next, it's not necessarily, though it was written to be a stand alone fic that grew from a few chapters that didn't fit into TTL.

Yes, you assessment helped. It confirmed how I already felt. I'm not sure I completely understand the use of AU but with the way to you used it, I think I get the drift. (sorry, I'm a comma whore). I will keep that in mind, as my story lines are original, I use the characters, to play out the plot.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Its not even dark yet, and people have already started setting off fireworks.
Vienna is a little crazy at New Year's, everyone throughout the city sets off fireworks, starting at 11:30 until 12:30, it is non stop.  I will be enjoying sparkling apple juice and the view from my roof this evening.

Hi limomx! I also have the regular ipad. My main go to reading app is ibooks. You can read epubs and pdfs with it. I also have the kindle app so i can read mobi and azw3 files. If am not too lazy, i eventually open my PC and convert the .mobi and azw3 into epubs so i can read it in ibooks instead  :)

I havent tried using calibre in my ipad. So as Ella said, i use my PC to download and copy/sync it to my ipad using itunes. Otherwise, some friends of mine email me their books. I just open the email attachment and once its fully downloaded it will give you the option to "open in ibooks". Once i click that, it's saved to ibooks.

If i am downloading straight to my ipad using the wifi:
A) i go to fictionpad and use flag to download (as i NEVER VISIT FFN ANYMORE. >:()

B) The greatest thing ever is to go to Ella's google drive and download fanfics from there  :)

Thank you so much.   For the not so tech savvy which link for the stories do I use for FictionPad with the FF downloader in Calibre or in Flag? Also  you ladies are better than any tech support there is   :-*

Me and my bump are doing good, 82 more days to go (+/- 10 days or so), and I am definitely looking and feeling pregnant.  Luckily I got 2 new coats for Christmas that now cover the bump, to keep us both warm (yes 2 coats cause my husband couldn't decide), although its been such a mild winter over here so far.

So glad to hear you are doing well Blue.  2 Coats enough to keep you and the little one warm.

I'm so glad you both are doing so well! Time went by fast didn't it? Did you find out if your having a girl of boy? I have 106 days left give or take 10 days also. For some reason I'm measuring about 4 weeks ahead (it's not possible for our dates to be off) so I have a ultrasound to check everything out next week, I'm not sure what this means  :o I had problems finding a new coat, I couldn't find one that would fit for a few months. So my awesome mom bought me a cloak/cape for Christmas it has armholes too. The comfiest thing ever  :)

Time has flown by, now that Christmas is over I have 3 months to do everything I said I was going to do before the baby is born, like combine my Calibre libraries off of two computers and go through all of my daughter's clothes to see if any of it is boy friendly (yep having a boy this time around, or at least that is what they say).

Before I got my new coats I was wearing my last fleece that still fit, and my floor length cape, I love my cape, but it wasn't very practical when I had to worry about it getting caught in escalators and that fleece wasn't going to zip across my bump for much longer.
