  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I just finished reading Trippin, Slippin, Stumbletumblin by Yellowglue and if you haven't read it yet, please consider giving it a chance.     It's one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read.    If you are a fan of vampward, this is a MUST READ!

I haven't read a twific in months, but I've kind of been feeling the urge to read a vampward, so I'm putting this on my tablet.

Please post back and let us know what you think of it...   I wish I had the words to properly describe how wonderful this fic is!

I found a nice review at The Lemonade Stand:

LOL! There was a whole discussion on this story. Not light hearted at all. Very Darkward. ;)

Darkward with an HEA? I've had this one on my list for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
Yep, that's why I haven't read it either.    I have a strict "must have an HEA" rule!  (well, until I stumbled upon Yellowglue!)

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I totally adore The Elusive Mr. Cullen! One of my all-time-favorites. Though I really didn't know what I got into. I was like this throughout reading:  8)  ???  :o   :-\  >:D
Everybody should definitely  consider the spoiler above before reading it. I didn't know, but was so pleased how it turned out.

So, I'm reading The Elusive Mr. Cullen and thought I was in for a little light reading. "Oh Bella's a hooker, this be a fluffy Pretty Woman. " I'm on chapter 17 and I have a feeling I'm so so wrong.  :confounded:

You are sooooooo wrong. I've not read it, started but did not complete.....it's different. Happy reading

I guess it depends on what elements the end must have for it to be considered an HEA by you! Saying much more would ruin the ending!

BWAHAHAHA!

Have you guys read any of these?

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

I listened to Matched (audiobook) and it wasn't bad, although I cared more for the social background.

Have you read the Rubyred Trilogy by Kerstin Gier? I just read it and it was fun.

I read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater I really, really liked it; it's a trilogy. I know you liked Twilight I'm sure you'll like this. Plus Stiefvater is a better writer!

On another note Kim, I wouldn't wait for the published version of Dusty, I doubt that a lot of the material will make it if it's pushed towards a YA audience....Dusty is M rated, with a capital M

I reread all the time. Mostly Actorward stories. And Vampward. Anything by Nolebucgrl or Drotuno. But really the list is long.

I reread a lot when nothing new is catching my attention. I usually skim the rereads but it clears my head a bit and then I can read something new.  ;)

I definitely reread fics, especially if I'm in a bad mood.  In fact, I'm debating what story to reread. I read all kind of fics, there's no real rhyme or reason to it.

demaris hun, I get the feeling that you and my Mum are in cahoots over Fassy as she has now has taken to sending me daily emails of pics of him attached.  ;) :D
I have to say I prefer this to when she was going through her Gary Taylor phase. :sign0137: :sign0137:
But she's pissed that Fassy's apparently dating Naomi Campbell.  :o >:( >:(

I completely forgot about The Elusive Mr Cullen. I really liked/enjoyed that story, and I give a high five to the author for really good story telling and thinking outside the box. In the Q&A at the end she wrote about how it annoyed her seeing the same traits of the typical Edward 'fawned over by the masses'. Well there is nothing typical about this Mr Cullen, that's for sure!  :D :D :D

She was actually very pleasant to me but only because, as my mother would say, 'The devil knows who to frighten'....But you know the old cliché that models are vacuous *coughthickcough*? Not so much of a cliché in this case.

I'm looking for a fic where Bella meets Edward, they fall in love and then Bella get pregnant Yeah, this and about 100,0000,0000 other fics! :D :D It is a testament to you wonderful ladies that some of you can identify so many stories from the scraps you are given... :-*

What gets me is the bad grammar some of them have. I mean, I get that some don't speak English as their first language, so mistakes are expected. However, there are a lot that do speak English as their first language, and have worse grammar than the ones that don't. Thank God they aren't writing it. Then again, some fanfics have worse grammar than a two year old.

Yeah, I just flounced one. The grammar was so bad. She would use the infinitive verb in a past tense. In every other sentence. Then I read her bio and found she was from Hungary. So I let the grammar go. Except she insists on writing mediocre lemons in every chapter. With past tense infinitives. Sigh. It just wasn't moving fast enough to keep me interested.

It was rec'd in the Twilight/New Moon AU group.  There was probably a decent story in there somewhere. The lemons just were overpowering LOL!   :P
