Hey guys, i'm looking for twilight fanfiction ExB and canon pairings only but i like when the story shows them exploring their sexuality, various situations and such. Any recommendations? I liked Boy in the Red Sweater and Midnight desire, stuff like those :) high school fics preferred but others are welcomed

So I've started reading The Gentleman From Washington State after PK's rec and I came across this "Edward thought Smythe a milquetoast, Ken Doll of a conservative who was a fool if he couldn't figure out what Jane was really like." Now, what is a 'milquetoast'? Does the author mean milk-toast or is it an Americanism I've somehow missed? Answers on a postcard...
A milquetoast is a person who is timid or submissive. (Pronounced here in the US as "milk toast").

So fanficgirl...   Did you do that whole index yourself?  The organization is really impressive!

Sorry, I haven't been on much this weekend.  I went to a concert Friday and I've been updating the Index.  To answer your question, Drypen helped me get started, but, yeah, it's my contribution to our group.

Shoot! I wouldn't mind more of that kind of ADD.  My house never gets clean because I always get distracted. So I start one thing, see something elastic do, switch to a third thing, next thing hours have gone by and only a small patch has been cleaned.  And then I'm a perfectionist so when I do clean? It has to be perfect.  Sigh.

So I give up and read. :P. :D :D

I'm a little like this except in a slightly different context.  When everything in my life becomes overwhelming and I have so many things to do that I don't know what to do first, I'm likely to blow everything off for a while and read.  Of course, this shortens the amount of time that I have to get everything done, thereby increasing my stress levels, but I was calm when I was procrastinating!

This whole sentence blew my mind!  I'm American, but have never heard of milquetoast.     Just asked my husband and he knew what it was though.

As an American, I've always thought the word "milquetoast" was a Britishism (I think I made that word up).  Maybe it's the spelling.  I do know that it basically means a wimpy man or someone lacking a personality.

Yeah, no, I just looked it up; according to Wiki Milquetoast is an American English dysphemism for a weak, timid, or bland person.

Since I keep talking about the concerts I went to last week, I thought I'd post a picture.  My daughter went with me to see Matchbox Twenty and The Goo Goo Dolls on Tuesday and I "won" a trip to Las Vegas (really just hotel accommodations).  Then a friend went with me to see Train, The Script and Gavin DeGraw.  At one point, Gavin DeGraw came out into the audience and I got to hold hands with him briefly.  I texted my daughter and she was so mad that she opted out of the concert.  She'd gone with me to see Train a year ago and decided she didn't need to see them again so soon, plus she really needed to work instead.  So here is the pic of Gavin DeGraw taken by my friend.

Doesn't she know to ALWAYS see the live show if you can, cause you never know what might happen?

She's only 19, she's still figuring things out.  She thought I was having freakishly good luck.  Personally, after sweating through two concerts in 4 days, I had a certain sense of entitlement.  Both shows were at outdoor venues and, of course, we're having temperatures in the high 90s.  Even September will still be hot and we're scheduled to see Maroon 5 at an outdoor venue in late September.  Oh well.  I'm still enjoying these outings with my daughter (and others when she can't make it).

Talking of wining..I won 2 tickets to see Kings of Leon as part of the iTune Festival on the 11th September! When I got the email I ran around my flat screaming like a banshee and cackling like a witch! It took 2 days for me to calm down and stop humming Revelry at the drop of a hat!!

You're so lucky, no one worth seeing EVER comes close enough for me to justify going, and if they do, ticket prices are out-fricken-rageous. I have to REALLY like someone to drop upwards of a hundred bucks a ticket!

That is one of the benefits of living in a big city.  Although scalpers are doing their best to make live shows too expensive for most people, and the internet makes it easier for scalpers to swoop in to get the tickets early.  As I've started going to shows again, I've ended up on mailing lists that help me get pre-sale tickets or at least be notified that tickets are going on sale.  But you have to make quick decisions or you'll be paying scalpers.  I hate the system, but venues have no incentive to change it because scalpers make it easy for them to sell all their tickets to a show.

Ella, so an hour of this and an hour of that isn't working either. If anything, I feel like I'm reading slower--getting distracted by the other story still lingering in my mind. I'm still experimenting, we'll see. It probably doesn't help that Dick for Hire is owning me and LYLS is not.

Speaking of, I'm about to start chapter 13 of Lolashoes' Let Your Light Shine and, honestly, I'm only still reading this because of the glowing recs you ladies wrote about it. So far it has only been lemons, which is understandable because it's their honeymoon, but there should be some plot in 137 pages. Can someone reassure me that plot will come? I cannot imagine another two books without a juicy story. (P.S. It's written well, so I'm still interested, but losing a little faith here).
LOL! I didn't say it worked reading more than one.  It usually starts with a story like LYLS.  It's good, but I can't read it straight thru.  So I start something else. But I go back and forth. And maybe pick up a third or fourth story. Until something grabs me or one of them actually gets interesting.

Let me know if LYLS gets better. I keep putting off reading it. I find myself skimming the lemons after a while.  They get to repetitive after a while.  ;)

LOL! I was going to answer but I thought someone here would've answered this already.  I think it was a term used in the 1800's.  I remember seeing it in the historical romances I used to read as a teen. :)

Yes, I take a lot of reading breaks as well. Lots of reading breaks.  I really hate cleaning.  :P

But you're right about the increased stress levels.  ;)

Hey guys, I'm looking for something new to read. Any recommendations?

I really like stories where Bellas a dancer or Edwards a police officer (or something similar). I'm not a big fan of angst, I like when there's an acceptable amount of time for them to get together and then they have problems that effect their relationship. I also love smutty stuff like Insatiable Desires or The Office but that there's development outside of that. Now it doesn't necessarily have all or any of those things. Just if it sounds like something that sounds like it fits in what I like.

Thanks!

Oh and I like stories I can download as a PDF and that's completed! But if it's really good I'll make it work!

I'm reading You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, and I was so exited because it started really good...but then James was introduced...and OMG he's annoying the crap out of me. I'm not kidding it's such a shame I think the story is good... the plot and everything but James is just so annoying.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

This james is not funny, he's kinda of creepy, I really hope this gets better. :(
