Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I really like the ideas behind Shields of Power, but do agree that it could be written a little better, its not horrible but not the best out there either.  I liked it better the first time I read it, or I liked my memory of it more after only one read.
I know what you mean.  I think that it's not that I mind all this perfection, it is more that I just finished rereading Twilesque, and it was the same sort of thing.  Bella went from being abused by Charlie to being this strong member of the Cullens, able to "borrow" others powers.  The first time I read it didn't bother me.  I reread it because she started posting a sequel and it was too much.

I think I need to read something different in between.  :)

Yes, Monster in His Eyes was written by JM Darhower who wrote Emancipation Proclamation under the name kharizzmatik. She pubd EP as Sempre.

I gave MihE and the sequel 4 stars, enjoyed it!
When I read the description of the story,  I wondered if it was her.  I just don't keep track of it all.  I let jklly do it. ;)

After leaving Forks, Edward follows a path of weakness and isolation while eventually seeking redemption from the only person who can absolve him. Alternate Universe, B/E
Rated: Fiction M - English - Drama/Suspense - Bella, Edward - Chapters: 21 - Words: 86,525 - Reviews: 4,747 - Favs: 2,346 - Follows: 1,324 - Updated: Feb 15, 2010 - Published: Sep 15, 2009 - Status: Complete - id: 5379739

Fairly canon, if Edward took off after that fateful biology class and didn't return.  It's a slow build and you definitely see part of the plot coming from the distance.  This is an Edward who lost control, but gets it back, for Bella's sake.

I actually just re-read the whole series last week and the second book Sempre: Redemption is very different from EP especially after
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
even though there are a few other things that have been taken from EP, about 80% of it is brand new material and it has a totally different ending as well.

I loved the pub'd versions, the editing to the books was so refreshing as quite a few pub'd fics have very little if any changes to them other than different names.  :)

I'm curious...which do you prefer? The fic version or the published?

EP and all its outtakes are in my top 10. However, I don't think i can read it again bec of the length and the angst.  :-\ It's amazing how, if you really like a story, you still remember vividly some scenes. This is a sign for me that the work really made on impact on me, hence, it is in my top faves.  :)

I am currently reading Drotuno's A Few Tables Away. A very shy Edward than i am used to but enjoying it so far. I finished my goodreads challenge so i am under no pressure to read more books/fanfic. So i took the plunge to read this 1,200+ fanfic.  :)

EP is in my top 5, I've read it quite a few times and after talking about it I've decided to re-read it again.  ^-^
My excuse this time is because the B&B me and the hubby are staying at next week, their wi-fi is pretty non-existent apparently so I needed something that would take me about a week to read, as there is only so many times I Can wake the hubby up during the night before he tells me No!  :D :D

A Few Tables Away is definitely my next read, I read a few chapters when it was WIP and really enjoyed what I read but that's not unusual as it is Drotuno after all.  ;)

It is with great excitement and pleasure that I announce that Counsel will soon be published. It means, sadly, that its time on Fanfiction has come to an end.

I was ready to publish some months ago, but waited until readership dwindled to single digit numbers. I think everyone who wanted to has now read the story.

I will be removing Counsel from this site. To give those who are currently reading an opportunity to complete, I won't be taking it down until December 11.

Although, no explanation is necessary; given the vitriolic responses I have witnessed some FFn authors receiving for daring to seek wider audiences, I decided to provide insights into my reasons for publishing. Not as an excuse for my actions, but to perhaps provide perspective for those who damn writers on this site for publishing their work.

My decision did not come about because I don't value the patronage of Fanfiction readers. I will always acknowledge, respect and value those who accompanied me on the first Counsel journey and championed my writing.

I was inspired to publish Counsel by the many readers who encouraged me to do so either through reviews or private messages. My decision was cemented when, earlier this year, I lost yet another dear friend to cancer. I was reminded, again, how important it is to live one's life to the fullest and to realize one's dreams, if at all possible.

I've dreamed of writing my own book since I was a child and first read Anne of Green Gables. Counsel was my first foray into fiction writing. It took two years and turned into a labor of love. If I do not publish something I feel so strongly about, I feel, I will always regret it. I owe it not just to myself to live my dreams, but to those I loved who did not get the opportunity to do so.

So I thank everyone who has read, reviewed and championed Counsel. I'm keen not to lose touch, especially with the many who responded to the story and characters with so much warmth and generosity. And to the few who took the time to contact me personally and to those who remained in contact through my period of 'drought'; a special, heartfelt thank you.

I plan to write and post another story on this site in the New Year. I hope that when I do, you'll decide to take another journey with me.

Take care all and stay well.

FoolForEdward

PS: I will not promote any of my published works on this site, just as I have never solicited for reviews. If anyone is interested in obtaining information about Counsel, please contact me via my website:

Deleting story
I've noticed a lot of my favorite authors removing their stories because of the latest issues with plagiarism and/or
deletion due to content. I don't want to join the club of author's who've had this happen to them. So I've decided to remove
my little story from the internet myself. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read my story and review. I will be
leaving it up until tomorrow and then removing it.

Just finished A Few Tables Away and it was very good. Really love the way drotuno writes, the dynamics of a family who love and support you, brings out so many emotions. Rec this as well.

Look, Loopy! I learned how to add a book in goodreads!

Kim, TMWCBM is the second fanfic i ever read and is one of my faves, included in my top 10.

OBL, i have to unsee that pic of Rob! Good thing he grew up to be handsome. There are really guys who look better as they grow older, lucky bastards.

This should erase that image and allow me to dream of The Pretty and not turn it into a nightmare  :)

Off to bed for me! Good night/day ladies!  :-*
