Thank you one and all.  It was a nice quiet day.  A friend and I went to the Weathervane for lunch and had baked stuffed shrimp.   Was delicious.  From there we went to Wendy's and picked up 2 large chocolate frosties for our dessert and then ended up at Kentucky Fried Chicken where we picked up a chocolate chip cake.  I divided it in two when we got back to my place and she took her half home and was planning on hiding it from her husband.   Heard from my parents who wished me happy birthday.  Didn't try to go see them - my mother is still trying to recuperate from hip surgery  - I think the physical therapist was working with her today anyway - and my father's Alzheimer's is at the stage where every little change in his environment that disrupts his daily schedule such as it is (like an extra person showing up) throws him all out of whack.  Haven't heard from my siblings yet who all live out of state.  One brother went to England with his two kids (both in their 20's), one brother was moving his daughter from Nashville to home for her new job, one brother was working weird hours and I'm not sure where my sister is/was.   I ended up taking a nap this afternoon.  Been reading all evening trying to finish Dragonsdawn by Anne McCaffrey.

I saw this on her instagram the other day and I have to admit I really had to squint to see where Brad rated on the Jon Hamm scale. :D :D
But he does have a pretty decent pair of legs. :P

I was reading one of my WIPs today and came across the sentence:
Edward was sat eating his cereal out of his bowel, looking pretty happy with himself!
If you ask me, that's some Hannibal Lecter sh!t right there.  :D :D
But I shouldn't really be surprised as I can't tell you how many times I've read resident's Care Plans at work and they've eaten a bowel of porridge or cereal that morning.  :o :P :P

I'd send you some, but it is taking all that I have to read these darn school books.  Why did I think going back to school would be a fun thing to do? ? ?   :P :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Law

I like to learn. And just taking classes has been fun.  But trying to get a degree out of it? Is a lot of work.  And? I was thinking maybe I need a PhD in Psychology next.   :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I could get my head examined at the same time I'm learning.....  :-\ :P

Wow, Law. I am positively green with envy. When me and my kids were younger I wanted to be a lawyer, but I would have had to move to a big city and I didn't want to raise my kids in that environment, so I gave up that dream.

Hey, if you get a PHD in Psychology, you could examine all of our heads here on PTS! :D :D :D :D

In California, you can now do law school by correspondence/online.  There are some additional things, like taking the Baby Bar after your first year.  Also, it is four years rather than 3. But it is better than driving 2 hours each way to take classes.  I also think Michigan now allows it.  Only because I think someone told me they knew of someone doing it there.

Who knows, it could be allowed where you are if you are still interested.   ;D

That is interesting. I just may have to check out if something like that is available up here in Canada.

That is awesome that you are doing it though.  So, good on you.

Yeah, it was fun the first year, but now in the fourth year? I'm ready to be done....

Good luck if it is something you still want to do.  I'm thinking it isn't what I thought it would be like. Too much writing.  I've realized I'm not that crazy about writing.... Just reading. ;)

Ya, lots of work, but it will be so worth it once you are done. So then you will be a lawyer after you are done?

Well, I still will have to pass the bar exam.  Then technically I will be a lawyer.  Only I make more money doing what I do now that I would as a beginning lawyer.  And I work a lot less hours too.  So it may be a side job or I might get some experience with a pro bono group or something.  I can't afford to quit my current job.  Which I really like for the most part.

So it may be one of those "retirement" businesses....

Do you think I could study medicine online  :o ? I really want to go back and become a doctor but the idea of all those years in school, not earning any money, puts me right off.....

Well there is nothing wrong with retirement businesses. The pro bono work will give you experience and get your name out there, so I think that will be a good thing.  Sucks that you would make less than your current job though.

There are some really great Homeopathic medicine schools in England that are mostly online.  I was actually looking at one.  I think you have to attend classes every few Saturdays or once a month.  Something like that.  I know they are more into homeopathic medicine in England than here, but it is slowly gaining a following - at least in California.  I know people that use Chinese medicine here in addition to what their doctors give them.

But for a full on medical degree? probably only the first two years could be online because the second two years are practical, i.e. working in a hospital with the doctors.   And then there is the internship and residency.  At least in the U.S.  Minimum 2 years for a general practitioner, 3 for basic ob/gyn, 6 for general surgery, etc....  Low pay and lots of hours.  Lots and Lots of hours.... It is crazy

I like my job.  It is interesting.  There is just no upward movement without moving across the country.  And? I wouldn't make much more, but the cost of living would be a lot more.  My problem is most of the upper management is my age, so openings don't happen often and when people do retire, they have been consolidating the positions to save money.  Oh well.  I'm not sure I want management anyway.  Some of my co-workers are hard enough to work with.  I really wouldn't want to have to write their reviews....  It wouldn't be pretty.   :D :D :D :D

Was just on Gossip Cop.  Joan Rivers has a new book out.   She has no great love for Kristen Stewart.

Joan Rivers reportedly takes a shot at Kristen Stewart in her new book.

The New York Post has excerpted part of Rivers’ upcoming “Diary of a Mad Diva,” in which the comedian (not surprisingly) goes after a number of big Hollywood stars.

Rivers is quoted as writing, “Many stars only do one thing well. Of course, the best one-trick pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle directors’ balls.”

Ouch.

The diss, of course, is a not-so-subtle reference to Stewart’s fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders
