Loopy let me know how Travis turns out, I have it next on my TBR, I'm reading the new Kristen Ashley first.

I don't like Mcguire's attitude either, which is why I "borrowed" the book, don't want to finance bad attitudes.

I'm re-reading BD first as I ain't read it in a while, but I'll let you know how WD turns out - I'm bracing myself as I've read and heard quite a few mixed reviews.  ;D
Lol, same here about the book - I save my money for other authors that are just happy that peeps are reading their books.

I didn't even hear about all the STP stuff, it was before I really got involved here. My problem with her is her attitude towards her readers. She and her "bestie" Jessica Park used to make quite a thing about tag teaming each other's negative reviews, and after Mcguire went off on readers not "getting" her people, calling them out on their "golden stools" or some crap, I just lost ALL respect for her as an author.

But like you, I Floved Travis, and want to read his side of the story, and will probably do like you and reread BD first.

I may not know them but I don't like either them as people, but I have read some of their books and quite liked them.

I really enjoyed BD, but haven't tried her other stuff, and I haven't read Park's stuff yet. I dunno, I understand not wanting to support whiny authors, but dammit, sometimes I like their books! Sometimes I feel like I need to read them under the covers in the dark, and not add them to my "read" shelves., but then I just say "screw it, and anyone who wants to judge me over who I read".

Travis - as in Travis Maddox - Beautiful/Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire.

So was this originally Twilight fanfic? Or did she write other Twi fanfic?

Not that I know of, but I've heard lots of people say it reads like fanfic.

Damn! Damn! Damn!

I lurve TheFicChick and have been waiting for this to finish. My dilemma is that just last night I started Heirs and Heirlooms, and I can only read one fic at a time!

FF.net needs to give some sort of "This fic is finishing within the next 24 hours" alert!

Lol, same here about the book - I save my money for other authors that are just happy that peeps are reading their books.

The way I see it, (or justify my pirate guilt), is that if I were to a real book - the paper type real book - I would lend it to friends to read and then end up donating it to Lifeline for their annual bookfair fundraiser - the author gets no more income from that than they do if I download a book from a private site, and if it's a really good book, I am more inclined to read and promote other books by that author.

I do my bit for authors - I spend thousands of dollars each year on books for our school library - apart from wages, it is our biggest budget expense.

Admittedly, I don't stock any Jamie McGuire in our school library! :P

Perhaps they need to not be quite so greedy when setting the price for e-books too!

This is a pet hate of mine! I won't read/save a book unless I know it's finished - I would think more people would read a finished fic.

For those of you that write and post on ff.net, is it just a case of forgetting to click a button to show it's complete, or is there some ulterior motive not to mark a fic as complete?

Yes, apparently it did and I will definitely be reading it based on Be Like Water.

I have to read the Practicum next though.

Why is it I go through phases of not finding anything decent to read and then three come along at once??

Isn't that always the way? A crapton of real books I MUST read have come out recently too! Touch & Geaux, Lover at Last, Wolf With Benefits, Twice Burned, Walking Disaster, new Kristen Ashley, it's been a GREAT two weeks!
