I am at home with my kids and the ecofriendliness is appealing. The public restroom does pose some issues-- maybe bring a small bottle of water?  Or at least if you wash your hands before removing it you could wipe it out and reinsert?
I've used a diaphragm as birth control after having kids when I didn't want to take any drugs so I'm used to putting things inside.
 :)
I think if you can control how long you are away from home during the first day or two of your period, it's a great thing.  Everything I read about it is that once you get used to it? It's not bad, especially when your flow isn't heavy.  The ladies that review on Amazon are actually pretty open about the issues with it.  And I guess you may try a few different ones.

Actually, I had a thought that you could carry a spare if you work & just change it out.  LOL! It just sounds messy to me.

Okay, that is just gross.  I would be changing it every 2-3 hours on the first couple days based on how often I would change other things.  The thought of having change that in a public restroom? *shudders*  :NeenerNeener:

But I guess if you work at home or have light flow, it might work.  I really like the eco friendliness of it.  ;D

I learned about it a couple of years ago reading fanfic.

But what happens if it spills?

Ok, call me lazy but this seems to much work for me  :P

Irene and the bowl dropping?

I don't remember much from the books anymore. I mix it with fanfic.
I just bought it on pay per view, it was supposed to have subtitles. Cause I already downloaded it,  but I was afraid that some scenes I wouldn't hear properly.
Rob likes to whisper and when you have fights and screaming it can be harder to understand.

I paid for it and there wasn't any subtitles anyway.  >:( >:(

I don't think that I have actually watched the entire movie! I have fast-forwarded through most of it (and rewinded and re-watched some parts  ;)) but I actually haven't seen the whole thing!

And this Denali vamp freaks me out! She's like the weird secret Olsen twin than no-one talks about!

D_D - have I taught you nothing? Don't pay for movies!

Oh yeah!

There wasn't much that used to make me feel mushier than when my boyfriend talked to my dogs - and then provided their voices to answer back. My tiny little mini fox terrier/chihuahua cross suffered extreme small-man syndrome, but sounded like an 7 foot tall African American, and my gorgeous black lab was either a southern belle or had been smoking pot.  :D

* le sigh* That was back when I had dogs...and a boyfriend  :'(

Wow; from bra-sizes to birth control and periods! We really are getting friendly around here!  :D :D :D

I remember reading about these in a fic too and being intrigued. 99% of tampons sold in Aus don't have applicators and using this seems no more messy or complicated that putting in a non-applicator tampon. I think I looked at them and decided that they were too exxy to try and then have not work. I have quite a heavy flow (since we are sharing) and that could get embarrassing...don't fancy having to carry a dirty one around in my backpack all day!  :P

Is anyone else having issues with notifications? I've not been getting them regularly for this thread for a few days now. Annoying!

I only like the idea of not spending 10 dollars a month  8)

But other than that, yeah having to carry them around and I imagine to insert them you have to be comfortable, no? Not a good idea for somebody who is always on the run.

Diva Cup,  what the hell is that?  I just googled it and then went online and ordered one from Amazon.  How is it that I don't know about this!?  I called my sister, cousin and two girlfriends and none of them have ever heard of it either.
Thanks so the info.  I learn so much from all of you!
 :-*

I don't think we have them here either! The first time I'd ever heard of them was the first time my sister visited after she moved to London. Initially, the thought grossed me out, but I'd like to try them - I never think to look on Amazon for things.

Well, the last time I looked on Amazon for something that was mentioned here  ;), it turned out that what I wanted couldn't be shipped to Australia. That led to lots of research that had me deleting my browsing history every time I logged off!  :D

After googling what it was I read this You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

This woman details her first time experience with using it and while it will take a few days to get used to inserting/removing/cleaning it it seems like something I would like to use.  Should I let you all know, or TMI?
 ;D

Yes please!

As you might have noticed, TMI never applies to me!

OK - I have self-edited here! That just might be a first for me.

My first response was too crude. My second response was too disgusting.

Our housing market crashed about 5 years ago.  People were upside down on their mortgages and unable to pay for their houses.  So they give them back to the bank.  Some people are great and just move out.  Others take everything.  I've seen houses with all the appliances pulled out, including built in ovens - usually you leave the built-ins when you move & just take the fridge - toilets pulled out, no lights, walls with holes, pee stained carpets, graffiti on walls... you name it, I've probably seen it over the years.  This is my fourth repo - house repossessed by the bank.  It might be the nicest of the bunch.  But the neighborhood is not as nice as when we moved in.

But my husband and I still argue about things.  Mainly that the 3 car garage is not large enough.  And I'd like the ugly lights replaced, but he is tired from work and doesn't want to fix things up.  Sigh.

That's just crazy. I've watched The Vanilla Ice Project (for research purposes I swear!!) and I've seen what you're talking about. That doesn't happen here. So do you flip them?

Apparently not!

I have a couple doctors and nurses in my family.  After a while, anything seems to go....

And I love that I can say these things here!  :-*

We have.

Unfortunately? I had to rent the last one out because the market dropped.  Also the current one we are in, well the prices dropped after we bought it.  They are coming back up, but not enough.

Also? My husband refuses to move again....

OK - here's my warning...I'm am about to overshare, and for me to give a warning, you know it's serious! So feel free to just jump over this post.

My cycle is not regular - never has been. I used to go 2, 3, even 4 months between periods, which I thought was great! And then when I did get my period, it would only last for 3-4 days tops and was never overly heavy.

When I was about 25, I had a period that lasted nearly a year. I'd have light spotting most days, a day or two with nothing, and then every so often, not just heavy flow, but thick heavy clots - so thick that I could actually feel them exiting!

Eventually, my mother dragged me to the doctor - there didn't seem to be any reason why this was happening and apart from being slightly anemic, there were no other effects. My doctor put me on a daily hormone tablet (not the pill) to try to regulate everything. She said that after 2 weeks, the bleeding should stop, then after another 2 weeks, I would get a period. It worked like clockwork - except when I got the period, the first 2 days were so heavy that I could barely leave the bathroom - I had never encountered anything like it before. The period lasted about 4-5 days and the next month, my cycle was exactly 28 days, was a regular flow and lasted about 4 days.

I stayed on the hormones for 6 months and for the first time in my life, had clockwork cycles, but also had the type of PMS that makes men scared of women - you couldn't even look at me without me crying. I'd never been like that before.

Anyway, my cycle is now anything from 4-6 weeks and apart from aching boobs the week before my period, my PMS isn't too bad - I get the odd month here and there where I might feel a bit tense or weepy but it's not too bad. I also get a few days of rampant horniness about 10-12 days before. Whether that has anything to do with my period, or whether it's just me...who knows!

Prior to this week, my last period was at the end of January. I've been really stressed with work, and that messes up my cycle, and when I start anything new - like the 30 Day Shred - that can impact too, so doing both at the same time obviously sent my body out of whack. I knew it must have been getting close - first, I was like a dog on heat - I'm sure any man within a 5 km radius knew what I needed! Then, aching, throbbing boobs last week (I'm talking cringing and bracing every time I took my bra off, shielding them in the shower from the water, etc), a pimple on my jaw that was the size of a small country, then last weekend had me bawling like a baby (remember the UK Got Talent shadow dance clip, and The Voice clip - weepy sookie-la-la here!).

Of course, my "special visitor" hit hard on the day when I was in meetings all day, and had to excuse myself to the bathroom every hour - with my handbag in tow. I should have just had a neon sign over my head announcing what was going on! Let's just say that I was really glad that I had the foresight to pack black pants rather than my cream suit that I had initially planned to bring!

Anyway, 2 days later, and I'm down to a really light flow - sometimes I think I'd prefer a longer period that was consistent rather than the mass eviction plan that is all over in 36 hours!

I can't stand tampons - I want to use them because of the ease and convenience, but I get cramps with tampons. So, I have to use pads - and I think pads are the most disgusting things! I went shopping this morning to stock up. I got enough for the next 3, maybe 4 "visits" - 4 packets of 10 super dooper surfboards for $6 each and 2 packets of 10 regular pads for $5.

$34!!!

This is how I know God is a man! And so are all the men running these companies! And if men got periods - there would be such a thing as Menstrual Leave and PMS Leave! And they could claim pads and tampons on your medical insurance - or even on your tax return!

Anywho - that's why I'm interested to see how the cup thing works.  :)
