The only way to read Torn is as a WIP.. 500,000 or so words, 75 chapters and it's nowhere near finished.

Wisp is finally gaining some traction and getting somewhere. Some parts were uncomfortable but she doesn't behave in ways that are as disturbing any more. Still think this one has a long way to go before finishing, too.

I like angst but not 8 billion chapters of it. Long drawn out for the sake of it is not my cup of tea

See I think it's difficult for writers of those kinds of fics to find a balance between making it too long and making Bella have too quick a recovery - in any case people will complain. I don't mind if it takes a while for her to heal but I want chapters that are different and show progress every time, something I don't think either Torn or Wisp do. Can you imagine the poor person that tries to read those as completed fics? They'd probably end up depressed by the middle :D

I had started both of these and based on the recent comments, I won't be finishing either one.  Thanks for the heads up.   :)

No doubt. I agree with not making it feel rushed, but if they are 10k word chapters... enough is enough. I applaud people who can write these types of fics but do they not see how tiresome it can get for readers?

Not long ago someone asked for angsty high-school fics, so try searching something like that phrase and you should find the posts containing the recs.

EDIT: Tracked through my posts and found You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, if you scroll through the page everyone else's are there too. Hope that helps!

I'm enjoying both as WIPs because frankly, I'm not an angst hoor, so piecemeal angst is good for me. ;)

They are both moving very slow, but there is definitely light in the tunnel, especially in Torn.

I'm beyond creeped out right now. I went looking for real person fiction for a request over on 152 and came across You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. There are pictures of Rob and Kristen with a baby titled 'Our New Family' and posts which are supposedly fanfiction but sound more like a Robsten diary entry :o People need to know where to draw the line between fiction and reality, that's just so strange. Real person fanfic is too weird for me when it's fictional events using real people but taking actual events and writing about them as if you were that person.. whole new level.

I think I read one where Bella interviewed a married Rob & Kristen, but really, I can only take them as side characters like in Screamers.  Otherwise, it is just weird.   :P

Flood Day! Woohoo! And my internet is working! Double woohoo! I got to leave work just before midday because of rumours that the river is about to go over the road.

:-X Sorry to hear that so many of you are sick - but really glad that you're on the other side of the world! I had salmonella a few years ago - Bali Belly! It hit as soon as I walked in the door at home after a 6 hour flight from Bali. My mum and I shared a plate at a very popular and well-rated restaurant the day before we left. My mum was really sick, and for weeks after, but I was lucky enough to only get a touch of it - I had glandular fever at the time and threw up about 30 minutes after we left the restaurant. The doctor thinks the salmonella must have hit my system really hard because I was already so ill, causing me to get rid of most it before it took too much of a hold. It was still a good two-three weeks before I was back to normal though.

The doctor put us both on the BRAT diet - and it's what we advise the parents at school to do when we get hit with tummy bugs and it does seem to reduce the length and severity of the illness.

Does any-one remember a WIP where Bella was targeted by a ghost - actually Edward - but she couldn't see him?  She would suffer? from unexplained orgasms.  I remember it happening in her apartment and in her truck whilst she was driving.  I read about 5/6 chapters before the story completely vanished off FF.

I really enjoyed this fic.   :D

I don't think I've heard of this one, but when I skimmed your post, I first thought was of The Lost Boys by hwimsey (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login). This is a really good fic, if you haven't read it yet. It was published as Grave Refrain, A Love/Ghost Story by Sarah Glover (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)

Even tho it is a wip she is posting this very regularly.
I laughed so much with todays update.
check it out.

Oh, I wish I could read WIPs! There are a lot of fics that I really enjoyed as WIPs (before my WIPhobia kicked in) and I think reading them as WIPs actually made them better because it was a little taste each week as opposed to a huge meal.

I'm really tempted to start on The Practicum because I have love TheFicChick, but I don't want to risk it! Not only am I a giant "flounce pussy" (to steal Demaris' expression) but I'm an even bigger WIP Wuss!

Astro, your emoticons have me LOLing so hard  And I think we all have a normal obsession with Rob.  There's nothing wrong with ogling um admiring a handsome sexy actor, and downloading pictures of him and trying to figure out how to get a life-sized fathead of him for your wall and...oh, um maybe that last one isn't so good...sigh... :D :D :D ;D

I probably should be doing the BRAT diet. The small piece of pizza I had tonight did not make my stomach overly happy. But toast has been working  and tea...lots of tea. Lots of tea with ginger in it. Fortunately, I love ginger.  ;)

So I finished Work of Art, wait did I already talk about it? It was really good, though I had dreams about hanging art on the internet. Yeah, weird. I know.  But when you think about it? That's where I see all my art *cough, Robp0rn cough*

So looking for something to read... anyone read Blind Spot by FictionFreak95?  It keeps popping up when I looking for things, so I think it's next. But I guess Bella is psychic or something?  Well I guess I'll find out  ;D

I'm thinking of making up some giant flashcards with emoticons on them and just using those to communicate with people - they seem to say things way better than I can!

OK - so I had to google "fathead", and I can't see anything wrong with having one of Rob on your wall. I won't tell you what I imagined a fathead to be before I googled it! I'll just say that there definitely would be something shocking about that!

But, hey! They don't call me Pervy Knickers for nothing!

Sometimes it's BRATT - for Toast and Tea. I can't stomach herbal teas, but I drink heaps of green and jasmine tea, as well as ginger. When I get my winter cold and cough, I live on ginger, boiling water and honey. I was growing my own ginger but with the rain and humidity of the last week, it has rotted!

Best cure for an upset tummy - pour boiling water into a mug and stir in a spoonful of vegemite, and also dry toast with vegemite.
I would die if I ever got sick and didn't have my vegemite!

I have decided that I am going to find the next big fanfic! When I finish First & Ten (which will probably be in 2016!), I'm going to pick a recently completed fic that I have not seen rec'ed here.

This will probably backfire on me, and I'll just be stuck reading yet another crappy, flounce-worthy fic that I won't be able to flick!

It's probably the best thing for an upset tummy because having that stuff in your system would make you empty out everything in your tummy and colon.  Vegemite! Ick!  I tried it when I visited and I think Australians must have stomachs made of iron to tolerate it.  I do need to drink some tea with lemon and honey to tame my cough, though.

Agree with you ficfangirl. Astro, sorry to diss Australia's national spread but.... Bleecccchhhhhhhhhh. I hated it when i had just a tiny dab while we were in the Gold Coast.

It takes a refined palette to appreciate vegemite!

We're raised on vegemite, almost from birth, but it's a real skill to make a good vegemite sandwich - and it shouldn't ever be eaten on it's own straight out of the jar if you're not used to it!

Vegemite tastes like a really salty beef stock cube (bouillon cube?) in a spread. Most foreigners slather it on like they would with jam, marmalade or nutella. In fact, a lot of foreigners expect it to taste like nutella when they see it!

There is nothing better than really fresh bread, butter and just a thin smear of vegemite.

I also have a recipe for the best meatloaf ever and it has a thin layer of vegemite spread over the top.

On my last morning in London after travelling for 10 weeks through Europe, some Aussie boys who were halfway through a 6 month trip saw my tube of vegemite on the table. My sister (the bi-polar, crazy one) was mortified that I "would leave it lying out where everyone can see it - like such an Australian tourist - how embarrassing!" but when I offered the vegemite to the boys because I wouldn't need it anymore, you'd have thought I'd offered them free sex and BJ's! And then when they paid for breakfast and spent the day sight-seeing with us, I think even she excused my "bogan" behaviour! Mind you, she wasn't too embarrassed to eat my vegemite throughout the trip!

My husband has insisted on introducing nutella to each of our children, despite my protests.  (I would have raised them on regular peanut butter, but he likes to be the good cop.)  IMHO, vegemite does not look like nutella.  Vegemite looks like sludge.  You Aussies have to teach your children from birth to like it, otherwise they wouldn't touch it!  But Astro, I admire your gastronomic fortitude.  I have to stop thinking about it.  It's upsetting my gastro-intestinal system.  I loved everything else about Austrialia, though.  And this is true despite the fact that we stayed in a hotel in the red-light district of Sydney!
