I've not had Marmite in a long time but from what I can remember it is way more runny than Vegemite, it's also sweeter, whereas Vegemite has a bit more tang. Promite is sweeter than Marmite again.

You can't get Marshmallow fluff in Australia, the only place is USA food stores, and even then it's only Marshmallow Cream, don't know if that is the same thing. I love salted Caramel!

As for mint chocolate, apart from the fact I hate chocolate, I also really dislike mint flavoured things. Not fresh mint, just the fake toothpaste flavoured mint.

American Smarties are called Fizzers in Australia, although they are in slightly different packaging and I think are made by a different company.

Peanut butter is becoming more and more popular in Australia, however Vegemite or Jam still seem to be more popular. Especially now many schools have nut bans, so children eat it less and less. I like smooth peanut butter, but we make our own a lot by grinding roasted peanuts.

My favourite sweet is liquorice, or anything liquorice flavoured. Yummy.

LOL, we are exact opposites, I hate liquorice or anything with that flavour, but I love chocolate.  :D

It's only my first week back at work and I already feel out of sync with what's going on here! Damn time zones!

I'm waving the banner for our very own pommy writer again - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

'As a young girl, I had always believed there was only the type of love spoken of in fairy tales... There is another love, though, a love borne from the need for a companion. The truth is that each of these loves can and do happen. I just didn't expect I would experience both at the same time with two different men' AH, Bikerward.

The first chapter is very short - which was good because the alert popped into my inbox while I was flood watching at work and should not have been checking emails, let alone reading fanfic! - but it has me chomping at the bit for more.

I'm struggling with my WIPhobia, so if this does not complete in a timely fashion, I will be forced to buy a plane ticket to Heathrow and walk the streets of London until I find the author...

Now if you're not sure who the author is, here's a little clue... ;)

Can any Aussie's give me a comparison between Vegemite and the Marmite we have in the UK? I have to make my boyfriend Marmite and Cheese sandwiches all the time but I don't like eating it on it's own. It's good as an ingredient for things, though.

Nutella is okay, I'm not a huge fan of it like some crazy people are. I do like it with marshmallow fluff between digestive biscuits though - I guess that's like a s'more - and I had it in France in a crepe which was amazing. My favourite sweet treat is salted caramel or anything with peanut butter. I made salted caramel cupcakes recently and they were so good.

It's so weird to see what sweets are branded in different countries. A few of my family members worked for the Mars factory years ago (the biggest confectionary brand in the UK) so we've had all manner of strange limited edition things come through our house.

I would like to know if there is a difference between Vegemite and Marmite too.  I love Marmite on toast.

I do love peanut butter - but only the crunchy version.

I haven't had marmite for years, and there was none in the shops today - but because of the floods, there isn't much of anything! I'll keep an eye out and report back when I can find marmite again.

All this lolly talk (or sweets, or candy or whatever you call them - it's no wonder there are so many different types around the world - we can't even agree on the name of the category!) and no-one has mentioned Jaffas. Does anyone else have Jaffas?

Jaffas are awesome and they are a MUST for when you go to the movies. Jaffas are a chocolate ball (around the same size as a malteser) covered in a hard, bright orange shell (like smarties/m&m's). Now, like D-D mentioned, I really don't like the orange and choc combination, or anything that has that fake orange flavour, but Jaffas are a-maz-ing!

I'm much more into savoury snacks than sweet, but every so often (like this week - thanks Aunt Flo!) I need me some chocolaty goodness.

Does anyone else think that Rob choc head looks more like the Queen than Rob?

Nutella? Ok in small doses - I could not believe how it was sold everywhere throughout Europe!
Peanut Butter? Yum - but it has to be called Peanut Paste!
Marshmallow fluff?  :wtf: I'm picturing white sticky goo...and that makes me think of another white sticky goo... and I would not want to spread THAT on a biscuit, no matter how much pineapple juice he'd consumed!

Is anyone wants any candy or something from the states I would be happy to mail it to you. PM me!

Awww - thanks.  Ditto if you want to try Marmite!

And ditto for me - PM me your address and wish list if you want to try vegemite, promite, tim tams, jaffas or the most racist lolly in the world - chico babies (choc flavoured jelly babies)

Every so often, my sister in London asks for a parcel and that's her shopping list - but Weis Bars are the first thing she buys when she comes back to Australia. Weis Bars are the greatest ice cream bars in the world! Mango Weis Bars are the ice creams they eat in heaven! And Macadamia & Mango Weis Bars are the ice creams they eat in heaven on Sundays!

A quick one before bed...

For all of you that love chocolate/caramel/salty/peanut goodness, try this "recipe". I've made these a few times, everyone screws up their noses and then they're gone before you can blink!

Rolo Pretzels
1 bag unwrapped rolo chocolate caramels
pretzels
M&Ms - plain or peanut

1. Place the the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
2. Place a rolo on each pretzel and melt in oven set on 150C (300F) for 4-5 min (the rolos should be slightly melted, but still hold some shape).
3. Take the tray of pretzels out of the oven and press M&Ms into each rolo pretzel. You can also press on walnuts or peanuts.
4. Let set and then try not to eat too many at once

Hellooo everyone!
Whew! Just finished catching up on two days worth of posts and I think everyone has gone to bed  :'( oh well not to worry, I'm sure you'll all be back tomorrow :D it's been busy, busy, busy with greeting the kids back to school. Thought I'd be smart and not leave things till the last minute and bought the kids their gear 3 weeks ago only to have my 9 yo daughter tell me the shoes I bought her are too small the day before school starts!! The same shoes we spent a day trying to find, going from store to store till she found the "right" one. Ugh!! Still couldn't avoid the last minute rush  :pulling :pulling Now I've got about 25 books to contact before tomorrow but I just cbf!

On another note - its my birthday!  :cheer: unfortunately I didn't get a "Rickell" type of birthday morning but it was great all the same. Anyhoo I'm talking to myself now and the contact is calling my name......

All this food talk had me eating a lot more, I was also pmsing. So now I can feel my jeans are tighter. :(

What are your favorite New Moon/New Moon AU stories? Trying to find some canon-ish stories

I have a ton of New Moon AU fics....but they aren't canon as you're hoping for. I haven't read any vampward for quite a long time so I can't help you out. Though if you decide to venture into non-canon I can hook you up with recs  :)

I know I can't say this for certain, as I've never had either, but from the descriptions and photos alone  :sign0137: :sign0137: on the vegemite and marmite

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERNZI!!!!!  :birthday: :singing :birthday:

Happy birthday Mernzi!!!

 :singing :birthday: :djparty:

Had a few beers before going home so consider me having drank for your birthday and wished you good health and hapiness  :) Cheers!!

All that talk of nutella and peanut butter made me crave so i bought bread and peanut butter which i had for lunch at work today. Yummmmm.

Next would be fried wonton wrappers with nutella on Saturday  >:D

All this talk of edible delights is seriously going to cause me to gain weight in just a few days... Those Jaffas look wonderful Astro, wish we had that here so i could taste it... But i will try to forget the recipe for rolo pretzels as that made me gain a few pounds just by looking at the picture... Damn, i want to try that but must. Resist.
