Demaris! I'm so happy she's alive!

Spending my Friday night learning sign language rather than reading fic. Shit is difficult, I have tiny girl hands and T-Rex arms so I can barely do half the moves with gestures without contorting my upper body :(

Summary: There was a boy I grew up with. My best friend. I was part of his family, but I was shy and a bit of an outsider. Then I realised he was hot. It became hard to be around him. I stayed away and grew up. I found confidence. But every time I was near him I became the shy girl. I couldn't find a way to talk. Until one day, with the help of some good friends, it just clicked. LOL! I bet they aren't teaching you the good words! I had to learn those from a deaf friend.  Though I wish I had someone to practice with as I lost track of my deaf friend after 2 moves.

Man, if only I could do that with the boys up here who are helping clean up from the bushfires, everything is so crispy here now that even though the fires are still burning we are pretty much safe, unless the wind changes and we get spotting again...But these boys, with their chainsaws out, all sweaty and covered in ash chopping trees up without shirts on. They are seriously fit. Nothing like a massive bushfire to bring the eye-candy out of the woodwork.

I'm glad you're okay Astro, I'll keep hoping that your house isn't flooded, how high has the river peaked? It's so crazy, just as we're safe from our house being incinerated by bushfires, the dealing with all the wildlife they flush out and injure (deadly snakes in your kitchen anyone, although that isn't really unusual) you're about to be flooded and are warned about stray crocs in your gardens. At least we both have us some good looking men to oogle. Makes it all better.
I'm sure that Victoria will be dealing with too much rain before long. And as crazy as it sounds, we will need some rain again in about another week. It's that hot that everything is now baking - we need some light rain - not a year's worth in 24 hours! - to wash the mud away.

Watching this natural disaster on the news, and living on perimeter of it, I am developing an addiction to men in hideously ugly clothes!

The Australian Army Uniform and High-vis Workwear! You know, those fluoro-orange ugly-as-all-sin clothes? All the men up here have them because they have to wear them in the mines, and on roadworks, and they all wear them anytime there is hot, sweaty man-work to do.

I'm  not certain if it's the clothes, the men inside the clothes, or just that all of these men are so willing to get in and help people in trouble.

Or maybe that when men wear these clothes, they usually have really big tools...
I mean, like big guns, or big chainsaws, or big hoses!

The river still hasn't peaked - they're just playing a guessing game now! New estimated peak is 8.7 metres (8.5 is classified as a "major flood crisis". At this rate, Monday might be a day off too! I found this picture that shows what the road normally likes like - it's the main highway north and west - which means I'll be eating canned food and long-life milk for a couple of weeks. The bull is the iconic welcome to Rockhampton.

Ok TOTALLY off topic but   :sign0090:   I want to throttle  :021: people at work,  just mind your on business if you dont know the whole story.  ok rant off  :ecomcity: i feel better  .

Put 'em on the shit list. One day, someone will push one of us too far and our international revenge spree will commence!

OKAY!  I NEED TO RANT FOR JUST A MINUTE!

When newbies are looking for stories, why don't they actually READ a few posts before and after theirs before they post the first time or the second time!  It wouldn't hurt to read the instructions for the thread...or even the last page of the thread before they frickin' post asking for something that was posted just a few replies before theirs or in a post following their initial request! AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!

Every time I'm on the other boards, I marvel at your patience! I just skim the other boards now, because I'd go postal on the other boards if I didn't restrain myself! Some people are so stupid that how they can even find the on button on the computer is a miracle! And the total lack of manners and general Generation Y attitude - I want you to find this right now for me, even though it's posted above for someone else.

I keep my cool all day dealing with parents and students. I wish I could just look people in the eye and say "F*ck off, you f*cking idiot", but apparently that isn't in the Department of Education Code of Conduct.

I hope you ripped them I new one or totally ignored them.  >:(
Like my Mum taught me and I teach my kids - Manners cost nothing. I'm pretty sure some peeps have never heard this.  >:(

Manners are on the endangered species list. A natural disaster brings out the best and worst in people. Last week, I saw people fighting over milk, and abusing, swearing and yelling at shop staff because they had to wait longer than usual at the registers. The store manager had to get onto the PA system and explain that they were understaffed because people couldn't get to work because of the weather - which was why everyone was in a shopping frenzy in the first place!

I meant to ask before, has anyone here seen Pitch Perfect? If not then I recommend you do. I watched it online last night and I'm in love! It was so funny. I've already downloaded the soundtrack ^-^

Yes - and Rebel Wilson is my Aussie soul sister!

Ummm, something that will help their 'stick up arse' issue... you know they come in the flesh or plastic, even glass. Heat that puppy up and bust out of the frigid zone *snort*  :D

Plenty of options, js...
This board is so educational - I've learnt that you can purchase such items on Amazon and they can take less than 7-10 days to arrive in the mail - even when your town is in a flood crisis!

BTW - I've been sleeping really well this week

I know very basic signing for my nephew, but I always worry that I'm going to mis-sign and tell him something really crude by mistake!

I started this post over an hour ago! It's taken me so long to catch up while fielding phone calls from family down south telling me that the city I live in is in flood  :-[ ::), that Demaris has come and gone

Oh well, at least the overnight posts have told me that the whole gang is pretty much all alive and well.

I just heard a mower start outside - am off to investigate! >:D

Oh! one more thing read In Places No One Will Find by CarrieCee (check 152) on the plane and I have to say I loved it!
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Carrie did a great, great job. OK now I'm off again; please, Please don't let the pink box get me!

Yay! I'm usually the last to read and rec a fic before anyone else has read it! I rec'ed and posted IPNOWF - when CarrieCee pulled she said that she would finish it and email it to people who requested on Twitter. She's the reason I joined Twitter, but given that I have no idea what the f*ck I'm doing on twitter, it's a miracle that I was able to get the fic!

She is now working on finishing another pulled fic "An Education". I'll ask for her permission to post that on 152 when she finishes it.

Never fear, I found a delightful YouTube video called 'How to swear in sign language' and it's accompanying 'How to insult someone in sign language'. I can't wait to go back to the special needs school on Monday, I learnt so much! :13: ;)

Any idea how hard 'Lauren' is in sign language? :D Especially with the double handed BSL as opposed to ASL. I have to do a claw to get the R. It takes me a full minute to get my name, the person would probably have buggered off by then :banghead: Still, I battle on!

I loved that movie! The only thing preventing me from watching it over and over again is my panic to keep reading so i can get to those that i know are good and finally get them off my TBR list... I know, crazy, as if i will ever finish my tbr list in this lifetime.  ;D

I have some "mean" teenage nieces who are surprisingly NOT into Twilight (go figure). She had the gall to tell me to my face (though jokingly), the only good thing that came out of the movie was Anna Kendrick  :wtf: i was like "Do you not have eyes? have i not annoyingly showed you the yummy hotness of Rob, over and over again, to educate you? how dare you!"  :D. After i put away my gun, i told her acting wise Kendrick really has the chops and she fcking sings well too (who would've thunked??!). But for the male actors in that series, Rob slayed the others hands down   ;)

Oh astro, now you have a reason to call mayday specially if guys like those are the ones to save you. Wouldn't you like them to be trapped with you in your floating highway... SNB can just watch and feel sad for missing his chance to save a damsel in distress  ^-^

Don't think i can say enough times how patient most of you gals are here. It really can be annoying when the requesters/newbies clearly do not bother searching or even reading a few posts up. Thanks again for all your hard work and understanding. People like you makes it worthwhile to keep going back to this thread.
