Let's just say for an alleged 17 year old it is very disturbing.

There are things on there that I have only just realised tonight.

Thank god that is not my daughter

I haven't looked at her profile yet, but now I'm very afraid.  Despite 3 kids and a long marriage, I was very innocent before finding fanfic.  I think I'm still relatively innocent, so I'm not sure I should expose myself to this.  What do you think?  Should I pop my innocent bubble, too?
I didn't read all of it - but what I read was enough.
Don't pop your innocent bubble hun, it's like popping your cherry - once it's been popped it can't be un-popped.  :D

Just stumbled across the profile of someone who's 'still in school, only a teenager', is apparently someone's Mistress and has written tons of BDSM fics. :sign0137: So wrong.

Whenever I see a bunch of crap in profiles like 'What they like' or 'Funny jokes' or 'paste this in your profile crap' I always think they must be 12.

Let me just say she has Icarly f/f fics... that is wrong in so many levels.  :sign0137:

I get so confused with all the time zones  - the only time I know what time it is anywhere is when I'm using my iPad as it's got a world clock app on it.  :)

The time zones really stood out to me yesterday.

The English girls were all chatting in the morning, then they all went to bed and it was quiet for a while until the ladies from the States popped in, then nothing for a while until the European ladies all starting checking in. Then later, the Americans and Poms were here again - just in time for me to go to bed!

There are a few freaks that don't seem to ever sleep, and then there are the really crazy ones that are here all day watching all the time zones roll by.  :P

Time Zones suck!

Stopped by Clintons to buy a birthday card today, the queue was out of the shop! Absolutely crazy. There was also no chickens or pork roasting joints in Tesco by me :o It looked like some sort of apocalypse scene!

So I have to use this very complicated online system to pick my dissertation topic. We have to choose 3 we're most interested in and they'll offer one of them - if they can't offer us any then you have to pick again, though of course this time there's less there and you get shafted with something crap. There is one that I'm interested in, but it seems to require you to take a full year out working on it before you can enter in third year and start writing it up.. trying to decide if it's worth it, though being in education for another 3 years doesn't appeal.

So far I've requested a dance therapy topic for working with special needs kids, another on group learning in schools and one on false memories in children. Fingers crossed I get at least one of them!

Bill and Hillary sell birthday cards in the UK???  :o

 :D :D :D

Dance Therapy and group learning sound interesting. I have an issue with false memories in children that I won't go into on a public board.

Yes, that's me censoring myself - maybe it is a sign of the apocalypse!  :P

I've been thinking about it and it will only get worse in a couple of weeks.  We move forward an hour which means at midnight our time it will only be 09.00hrs for you - or when it is midnight for you it will be 03.00hrs here.

You are right - time zones suck.

EDT - It will actually be 15.00hrs not 03.00hrs - told you it was confusing.

Have you ever seen anything on animal therapy for special needs kids? I'm no expert but I have done some reading around it. My nephew is special needs and is terrified of any animal every time he sees them, but it's interesting to watch him once he settles. I keep telling my sister she should look into a support dog, but she tells me that I'm an idiot.

Pffft - What would I know? I only have two degrees in Education and have worked with children for 20 years.

I know what you mean - I went to our "big" Tesco a couple of hours a go and it was like the end of the world was here or something as peeps were everywhere and for some reason there was no yoghurt's, milk or cheese.
So I'm presuming that all Mums in my area (probably including myself) are getting dairy products for Mother's Day gifts.  :D

It gets like this here anytime there is a special day. The stores are used to close for EVERY holiday (2 days for Christmas/Boxing Day, 4 days over Easter, etc) but now they close only on Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day, and you'd think the world was coming to an end!

We also get the natural disaster panic shopping. With the news reporting a cyclone forming, the shops were insane on Friday with people panic buying EVERYTHING!

I wanted to just tell everyone to chill the fuck out! I mean, if a cyclone hits, chances are we'll lose power so those 10 bottles of milk you're buying aren't going to do you much good in 30C heat - unless you plan on eating it with a knife and fork!

I quietly bought my cartons of long life milk, bottled water, tinned tuna, crackers, batteries and candles and got out of there as fast as I could!

:flowers:Happy Mother's Day UK :flowers:

In the US we can't be bothered to actually cook for our moms but we will take them to a crappy chain restaurant after church.  ;)

I know this is off topic but has anyone watched Cosmopolis yet? I haven't grown the balls to just do it. I have heard things and I'm afraid it will turn all "Tarantino" on me and thats another psychlogical scar I just don't need. :o

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

I have seen it three times - the first time I really concentrated on it and got to the end and had no idea what it was about.

The second time I really concentrated on it and got to the end and had no idea what it was about.

The third time, I turned the sound down, had a few vodkas and just watched the pretty. I may have fast forwarded some seems and re-watched others - several times - in slow motion.

Here's all you really need to know:

And the boy looked fine during promos:

The dance therapy one requires a year, from the looks of it. I'd be working in a school a few days a week (unpaid, mind) and helping implement a dance therapy program, then doing questionnaires etc to test it's effectiveness. The only thing I'm confused by is that if I do that for a year, surely when I come back in the September afterward I'll have no project left to do, and technically you're not meant to begin writing it up until the start of 4th year.

I have no idea why it's so complicated, but I feel as if I need a degree just to work it all out! They give a research title, then a brief description and you have to 'request project' if you're interested. They have 'selection waves' where they give out projects to people and because there's 400 people in my year group, competition is fierce. If you don't get any of the ones you want, you have to choose again out of what's left (i.e. what other people didn't want). It means you can end up doing something you have no interest in, and considering it's a whole experiment you need to devise, run and analyse - that's no fun! :(

Psychology degrees aren't half confusing, and that's just the admin side!

OK - here's the plan...you move to Australia, you work in my school teaching us all how to boogie on down Brit-style, we develop the 2013 version of gangham style, make squillions from that, you write that up as your thesis - and we all retire and live happily ever after, funding movies for Robert Pattinson.

BTW - I'll be in charge of the casting couch!

I have just figured out I can count forward 2 hours  for the UK and count back 3 or 6 for the US (depending on the coast), and just change the am to pm...AND IT'S ALL GOING TO CHANGE!!!

I can't even handle daylight savings in Australia when the southern states are only one hour out of sync!

Oh - I forgot to say, whilst I was in town earlier today I thought of a post on here.  I was just walking up to the card shop when I passed a gang of lads.  One of them was mid adjust at the time.  He had trackies and boxers on and his hand was definitely below the boxer line.

Right in the middle of the town centre!
