My dogs (when I had them) were pretty good about that - they'd walk to the bottom corner of the garden.

Except the little one - if he came inside and there was any plastic bag on the floor, he'd find it and have to pee on it!

My cats are like that. Except the plastic bag doesn't have to be on the floor. Any flat surface to which they have access will do. We don't leave plastic bags lying around at our house.

Normally they are pretty good about it. The do in a couple of places. Always the same.

My lab, even tho he is 8 yo and castrated, will sometimes pee inside. I think he does it to spite us.
Really. He wants attention, even if it is a bad one.

But my chow, even tho they are considered dumb dogs ( they can't be trained) he is actually very. Good about that. And he is way more attached to us than the lab. My lab loves the chow. We are just commoners for him.
