Guys, I'm an avid fanfiction reader especially in ff.net but in my whatchlist there're about 300 stories and I found it impossible to remember every each of them so I have a hard time to realise in time when one of them is "missing". Could you give me some kind of tip to not lose stories????

Only 300? I know the feeling, I have more. I have no idea when one of them disappears and when I hear about it, I usually hit fb, or other sites to get a copy. I have several friends that pdf every completed story they come across and keep spreadsheets with links, what they have read, ratings, etc. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of time working 12-14 hrs a day. I know that didn't help you at all, but I wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I have hit and miss at ADF. It is very hard to follow, alerts are a fail. Maybe it is just me. I do better sending emails to those I know there.
Ok, I just emailed, hope this works - if it does I'll post here.  Thanks

The only way I know is the spreadsheet, but that takes a lot of time and it is sometimes hit or miss.  I would love to find a simple way. some of the forums use to list the deleted fics, but sadly most of those are really out of date. Sorry not to be more helpful.

This site is new. It has only completed stories that you can search by genre, etc. It has the banner and the story link if it is online and a place for you and I to review the stories honestly. Authors cannot review their own story. Ever flounced a story for a reason? It is nice to know before you invest time. Sunday's are rec days.

Rob Attack we have a different item everyday. But ff are friday's.

Then there is the lemonade stand. They have 5-6 stories every week they review.

I am also apart of a ton of groups at fb.

I know...I am sorry. I certainly didn't help your situation did I?

Every so often I copy and paste my alerts to a document.  Since ff does not allow removal, some just change their name or leave it as goodbye or thanks but their number drops to 0.  I can tell who is missing.  I try to copy the list of the authors stories too.  this is not something I would start now, but I have been doing it right along.  Also, you can just copy and paste your list of favorites, rem they change position at every update, but at least you could check if you were curious why you dropped from 300 to 299.

I only favorite stories I am reading or have read, so TBR are just saved on my comp by author name.

Believe me, I am so thankful for a downloader, but it allows me to save tons more stories.

Anyway, love to read the fanfiction.  I too, enjoy mostly just Bella and Edward stories.

I quit the rec sites. I want to read everything.

I quit rec sites, too.  I was only getting frustrated with the number of alerts I get daily, we're talking 100+, I spent last month removing most of the authors' alerts, I now get around 30 a day and with that I know I will never have enough time to read all the stories I copy.

there are some T rated that are pretty good for example this You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is very nice,it's some sort of Hunger Games crossover!!!

I saw your profile and I have to admit I feel small!!!lol I've read most of them and yes Grasping Darkiness is AMAZING like any KiyaRaven's story!!If she ever take her stories down I'll start mourning dressed in black, crying and everything!!!lol

I add to author alert only the authors that I love all their stories and to favoritte stories the complete ones and those I really love!!

Well, I can say I have never read a T-rated one. The PG13 of the Twilight books and needing more than broken headboards and feathers lead me to ff world.

My fav stories on that site are a combination of ones that I have read or want to read. As far as alerts go, I have manually configured my alerts to be from authors I love, or only my current wips, so I don't get tons of daily emails. I do that at ff.net and at TWCS and at Twilighted.

I am selective in what I like. I don't want to read everything, but as you can see from my list, I have tons I want to read. I like to change things up so the sites help me. If I read a really angsty one, I usually follow it up with a fluffy one. I switch from AU to AH. But it will always be Edward/Bella. That is just my thing.

I usually will read a completed fic while I wait for updates to all the wips I am currently reading. Right now you can see a lot of wips I am currently reading and the completed one I am reading at the moment is The Lost Boys. Pulled long ago.

The stories on my profile are ones that I recommend. I have read more, but they were lackluster, so I didn't put them on my profile.

Grasping Darkness...ummmhummmm. My fav vamp fic thus far. Sweet jeez she writes brilliantly. I craved when he craved, I lusted when he did. Shazammmmmmmm! If any of you have not read it, then I highly suggest you start...now. lol

Thank you for the links. I wonder do you ladies only read from the Twilight fandom or do you read other fandom as well? Because the Twilight fandom is not the only one that can be a pain in the butt with keeping track of what is finish and what is in the wip stage.

I used to read Harry Potter and even earlier Velvet Goldmine but not on ff.net. I read HP on livejournal and various websites. I still have a huge folder of links in my favorites. I read VG on various message boards. My first saved fanfic's were HP. The site that contained them crashed and lost a good chunk of it's archive. I even e-mailed the author for the stories and she was kind enough to write back but no longer had the stories on her computer.  I was lucky to find them on a Yahoo group. Harry Potter now is just overwhelming.  :-\

The same could be said about the Twilight fandom or any fandom that become intensely popular. The Twilight fandom can also be  overwhelming yet it has one of the best sense of community of any fandom. I been reading fanfiction since it first began on that internet that is and I can say this with a certain amount of "experience." The Twilight fandom is better organized and its fans are extremely nice and helpful which some fandoms are downright every man for himself atmosphere.

Irony enough I got into the Twilight fandom, books and movies by first looking for an old Voltron fic called Master of the Universe on Google and didn't find it but I found Master of the Universe for the Twilight genre. I decide to read to see it if the author has re-invented the story for the Twilight fandom because many authors do this to get a broader audience. I had heard of Twilight but it didn't catch my attention enough to check it out fully until I read Master of the Universe. After I read it without reading and understanding the Twilight series, I decide to check them out because the story Master of the Universe blew me away with how amazing it was. Unfortunately, the twilight series didn't live up to the hype I has created in my head by reading Master of the Universe. But some of the fanfiction I have read in this fandom does live up the hype of the Master of the Universe but the thing is I haven't read that much. I save them on my list to read for the Twilight fandom but most of the time; I never get a chance to read them and when I do some of them are taken down.

Thanksfully the Twilight fandom love to share and for this I am eternally grateful. So thanks you all for the time and effort to read the posts and adding the link.

I only read FF for Twilight. I snorted out loud that you found it by searching for Motu. That was the largest, most popular in the world-wide community and now of course a published Trilogy. I am sure that was not what you were originally looking for.

The best of the best come along sporadically and a lot of them are now published or pulled. I have the published versions as well, but for some reason I still prefer the Edward/Bella versions.

There are a lot of good ones out there, but you will have some that blow your knickers off so to speak. Then there are some that I just have to flounce. It is why I use the assistance of other websites. I have so many I want to read, that I need to know if I shouldn't bother. I am not super sensitive to grammar, but I have had some I just had to stop reading. I also want an HEA. I can get through a ton of angst if I have it. There are some out there that are probably on everyone's top lists, but they don't have an HEA and I just cannot bring myself to read them.

I brought the books as well and like you I prefer the Edward/Bella versions because that how I read it the first time without knowing the enormous fandom and series behind it. I resist reading it at first because I loved that story Master of the Universe for the Voltron fandom and didn't want the title tarnish by the Twilight crazyness. Funny now since I part of the Twilight crazyness so to be speak.:)

I been on ff.net for years now since the beginining when NC-17 materials was allowed. My very first fanfic fandom was reading and writing was for the Sailor Moon fandom, oh the memories and some embarrassment. A teenage writings after the years can make you ask yourself what the h#@@ were you're thinking at that time, hahaha.

Very true how the best of the best come along sporadically and this happen to be true in every fandom. Personally, I applaud when a fanfic writer get the opportunity to become published and thanks the chance that I had the opportunity to read their materials. Writing fanfiction for any author looking to get published serve as a good platform to get constructive criticism and advice for their future writings free and unbiasedly for the most part. If only Stephenie Meyer has gone this route perhaps the Twilight series wouldn't be so bad in my opinion at least. She had the foundation but the wall were not built well.

Try this : Soldier Boy by anallbr  It and its outtakes and sequel are on page 22 of this thread.

The author had a life change, changed her style of writing and her name and then left the fandom. I believe she became MovieFanatic.
