On another note, to temper my rant of yesterday. There are times when I ask myself, repeatedly, why the f*ck I continue to put myself through the torture that this fandom can be? Mediocre writing,(at best), abandoned fics, slow to crawling updates, crazies (!) perpetual repetition (as if the authors all share one brain) and then out of nowhere, when you least expect it, you accidentally stumble, and I mean fall flat on you face, into sometime really great. And then, for just the time it takes to read a single story, it all suddenly makes sense....Pressed for TimeIs it possible to fall in love in five minutes? Of course there are fics that respresent men accurately, as as I'm sure you'd say there are some novels (or other publication of choice) where men can write a woman decently well enough.
.I'm now reading For The Summer by camoozle and I flove it hard!!!!! It's in the index and also still on ff.net:For the Summer Every year Bella waits for the 'Pay Checks' to roll into her sleepy river town and every year Edward's hers, just for the summer. So the story goes on for a lot of years, but it never gets boring. It's really angsty, but the prologue sounded like HEA. Not that I'd mind a Non-HEA, but for those who might want to read it. This one goes to my all-time-favorite-list.
I recall reading the first few pages but it didn't grab me so i put it in the back burner too...Agree with you on this. Am super happy when a fanfic writer gets published, more so if it's a brand new story. But so far, i haven't read a single pubd book that i already read first as a fanfic. Maybe if it was one of my top ten fanfics and not too long. I wanted to read sempre bec i loved EP, but that was a long and angsty one. Have too many books and fanfics to go through i can't bring myself to re-read one (unless i was in a deep slump).Speaking of the opposite, i read it as a book first before i found out it was a fanfic... The 50 shades trailer is out!You are not allowed to view links. Register or LoginHowever, the elevator scene of Dior Rob is way hotter! Hope the movie comes out great, even though am not feeling the actors after that trailer
Ok Ok you were right, I absolutely loved Fire and Ice. Now trying to decide what to read next.
...aaaaand I'm wet....
If the trailer is any indication, there is a total lack of believable chemistry between the actors. The Dior elevator clip in Loopy's signature is more intense than anything the clip showed and Dakota looks like she is imitating Zoe Deshanel from an episode of The New Girl (a U.S. sitcom). Jamie is hot, but I have a feeling the movie will disappoint a lot of people. (I wasn't planning to see it anyway, all the "50 shades of this" and "50 shades of that" made me "50 shades of sick of the topic"). I also thought it was only ok as a Fic, but never thought it good enough to be the sensation it's been - it was all about the subject matter. As they say sex sells.
MWAH!!! I just discovered there are outtakes to For The Summer on ff.net. And it's EPOV!!!!! YAY!!! Sorry for my fangirling, but I've been wondering about Edward's point of view for so long now, since the fic is BPOV all the way. So I'll definitely have to read those. How about you? Do you read outtakes? Normally I don't, expect it's a story I really really love and can't get enough of. The last time I squealed over an outtake was Fridays At Noon and River, I think.
Speaking of Wisp, she updated yesterday and said she would try to get back to every other week updates. Keeping fingers crossed.
Do you need an umbrella or a poncho hun? :DI couldn't agree more. I think the problem with FSoG is that the hype is much bigger than the film, so it's gonna be a disappointment no matter what even if it's the best film ever as you can't please everyone.I say bring on Mr Cross - at least we'll get to see him weekly. The one thing I took away from the trailer (apart from Jamie looking hot) was I FLOVE the CiL remix so much, I reckon that if/when they release it that could do better than the movie. I'm definitely not gonna waste my money going to see it, if I get bored one night I might (and that's a big might) d/l it.
I agree with you. I liked the story behind the lemons. It was like a grown up Loner to me. I don't know who started writing their stories first. But they were very similar. The lemons were good, but then, it was my first lemony story. If I read it for the first time now? I'd probably be blah, it's okay. But I would do Fridays at Noon as a movie before this one. What the readers of 50 shades want is soft p0rn. Not a real movie. And that's not PG rated.
I finally got a chance to watch the trailer. Jamie looks good and might pull this off, but the girl playing Ana actually looks like she thinks she looks in the book, rather than someone blind to her own beauty (with one exception - when she's in the hang glider).
I saw the trailer. It looks okay. But it reeks of Twilight. When he says something to the effect of "I'm no good for you" - yeah I heard Edward. And the fingers. I saw that and thought, those aren't Edward's fingers, they should be longer and thinner. Like Rob's. Or even Fassy's. Not sure how I felt about her.
Holy sh... I just was curious and wanted to read the first sentences. I inhaaaaled the first chapter instead! This is definitely the next thing I'll read. I hope it continues like this, because I liked it a lot! I couldn't stop though I should work hard. As for PoF: I flounced it. I don't even know exactly why. It didn't get to me. And I panicked because of the amount of pages that didn't diminish despite my reading. Maybe I'll give it another try someday.I'm now reading For The Summer by camoozle and I flove it hard!!!!! Would you warn me if Pressed For Time didn't have an HEA? I think this should be an agreement that we have in our angst club. I need to be prepared. Off to download it now... Busy with Hawk/Gwen right now, but will read it soon.
