Hello, all :)

I know there's already an 'Introduce Yourself' thread up on the main page but I thought I'd put one up  here in the Cafe as well (so it's just for us book readers). Please take a moment to drop in and say hi, maybe tell us a little bit about yourself....or just tell us what type of books you like to read.

Hi I’m Kris, and yes i am a girl... and yes I’m new, kinda
I’m from Australia; you know that big island on the other side of the world that always seems to be left off maps... I still do not know why that pisses me off
ummm i don’t really know what to put, i guess I’ll start with how i started to read.
When i was little i was diagnosed with dyslexia (so if there is any spelling mistakes in this please forgive me) so yea i could not read at all and pretty much refused to even try. I was the girl that couldn’t read and refused to try, but not my mum she never gave up!! Constantly forcing me to read and askin' me what that word is. I will be forever great full to my mum after all her efforts i was able to kinda read by the time i hit my teens (kinda, I still struggled a lot). Now I’m getting in trouble for reading too much.  (She needs to make her mind up)
I love to read now and will pick up anything. Though sometimes i find it hard reading things written in the Europe and America. I basically thought either the dyslexia is playing up or Americans can’t spell. Turns out that, you mates have completely different dictionary even though we all speak English. Who’s confused; the dyslexia kid certainly is!
Australia is the most beautiful place in the world. Though i am biased since i have never been out of the country you can just look out and for miles all you can see is bright red and the blazing sun! And the wet seasons everything turns green and there’s daisy as far as you can see!
Being Australia and all... I’m kinda little confused about some of the lingo... so if you could help out that would be great :)
What is a tube? (I don’t think they were referring to the top or the shape)
Subway? (Not the sandwich place i don’t think)
Ketchup?
Ranch?
This one’s odd one to me what is an emo?
And this one is referred to a lot on this cite... Collage (i have known idea what this it is, we don’t have them in Aussize
Thanks For Haveing me and for shareing all your books :D

Hello,

I'm a 23 year old accounting student. I'm quite introverted, and am always looking for new ebooks. I like to read fantasy/paranormal, mythology (Greek and Norse in particular. I'm kind of obsessed with the Greek Hades-Persephone myth) erotic, miscellaneous romance, drama, humor, the occasional crime novel, miscellaneous non-fiction...

My favorite authors are: J.K Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, Charlotte Bronte, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Simone de Beauvoir, Richard Dawkins, Kelly Armstrong and Mary Stewart.

Hi, Kris
The "subway" is a underground public transit system, usually found in large cities like New York and Toronto (Ontario, Canada).
The "Tube" is British slang for a subway transit system.
"Ketchup" is a smooth tomato-vinegar sauce, often eaten with fast foods like french fries, hamburgers and hotdogs.
"Ranch" has two meanings: a creamy salad dressing (usually with pepper mixed in) or it can refers to land where livestock (ie. cattle and horses) are kept.
"Emo" started as a type of rock/punk music in the 1980's, and later came to refer to people who wore all dark colors and usually acted in a somber/depressed way. It's often can in a negative way, like an insult.
"Collage" might be a misspelling of "College" (ie. Post Secondary) or it might refer to something made up of multiple parts (like an image made up from many different pictures).

I hope that helps.

hi there! You can call me Tama if you like. ^^

I stumbled across this forum while looking for one of Cassandra Clare's new books and I find it a treasure! My greatest thanks to both those that put it together and keep it working, and regular members that keep answering requests and helping everyone! It's really great! <3

I have a shifting taste in books... I started with Harry Potter, which was the first book series that I ever enjoyed, which also infected me with a dire thirst for reading and writing. Ever since then I've discovered more and more about what books I would read and how to find them... I did started writing, but I never really published anything, nor actually finished it... the story I started writing back when i was still waiting for the 4th HP book to be released is still under re-writing... yes, I am THAT picky...

but I used to roleplay a lot. I learned a great deal about character creation and storytelling like that... and writing in collaboration did kept me practicing.

Now I am reading mostly... As you might have picked up by now, I prefer fantasy books, but also SF. I have very few slice of life or drama books I can actually say I enjoyed reading so I generally avoid them. Up until recently I've been reading Young Adult books mostly, but I discovered Ilona Andrews and her Edge books caught my attention. I must say the thing I love most about her books is how she doesn't go around the finger (like YA books often do), and how she is straightforward about everything she writes. I am currently looking for more writers like that, but i can't say I'm in a hurry... I just discovered The Edge is not the only book series she's been writing, and she's got quite a lot for me to read. :))

see you around! :D

Hello STP Community!!!  ;D
My name is Ashley and I've actually been on this site continuously for a few months before I noticed this link, sorry  :-\ But anyways, I'm 21 years old, from Texas (yes I've been on a horse and no I don't ride one to school  ;)) , and I'm currently studying political science at the University. I absolutely love reading and I really don't think it started until we moved in the middle of the fourth grade when everybody had already made friends and had their little cliques and I was left alone :( Well needless to say I bounced back by reading everything I could get my hands on to pass the time and the romance has continued :) I will read anything and everything as long as it will hold my attention from sy fy and romance, to mystery and classics, I love it all. Some of my favorite authors include Nora Roberts, Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin, Rick Riordan, Mary Calmes, Debbie Macomber, and many many more  :-*
But yeah so there's my little life blurb, thanks so much and I hope everybody has an awesome day!!  :D

Hullo everyone,

I'm Jenn, and I accidentally found this site when I was googling for a Tiffany Clare book and I'm super happy to be here. I'll be 34 in a couple of months. I'm a voracious yaoi/BL manga reader, I watch lots of animes, and I enjoy reading medieval type romance novels. My preferred time periods/settings are in the Scottish highlands, England regency periods. I don't care for the western or civil war type settings, nor do I like the kind of settings where the hero/heroine works for an actual figure in British history etc. I have found those type of setting to be boring in my experience.

Other than medieval type romances, I also enjoy paranormal/supernatural ones by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan (back when the Dark Carpathian series was good), J.R Ward and Katie MacAlister.

I'm happy to be here and I hope to be able to contribute in some ways to the comm.

Anyway, I'm happy

Hello! I am Gimelle, from Philippines and I love reading books since I touched one. I am 16 years old and already in College. (Proud much? Total geek.) My hobby of reading books is totally out of the league of the course I took up which is BS in Architecture. Oh well ~ ( awkward moment when i don't know what to write ) I absolutely love reading all about mythologies, romance, YA, fantasy, not much about Vampires and stuff but yeah. That totally sums it all up. Bye!  ;D

Helloooooooo...and hi.

My favorite thing to read is Scifi/fantasy and not-so-common and popular titles.

Confession: I've never read The Hunger Games, and I only made it to book 5 in Harry Potter.

I am often referred to as weird because I own 23 tarantulas. I don't get it though, our FB tarantula group loves the heck out of me and my husband. I think everyone else is weird. But that thought is weird in itself, so I guess I am weird.

But that's okay. Weird is good in my book.

I'm from Texas, America. Howdy! ;D
