Please be aware that we have long since finished this.  We NO LONGER ALLOW SHARING OF EBOOKS on this site.  Please do not post a book, it will be removed.  Please do not post a link.  It will be removed.

Dear members

We are in progress of migrating have migrated the site to a new name and defining defined new guidelines. One of the most important is to discontinue hosting ebooks on our website so that we are DMCA compliant.

Over next few days STP's team of Moderators will be deleting all posts from all the Boards containing books and book requests.   These have been deleted.

Please do not make any further book uploads on the site.

Thank you for your understanding.

Note: We will review the new rules when the site is fully migrated, so if you have any suggestions please let us know by contacting one of our Mods.

:'( I am so deeply sad. The E-books on this site was the joy of my my life. I guess I'll have to go back to being bored all the time again until I can earn enough money to buy some books.  :'(

:-* Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you did for us the readers.
This site has reintroduced to me the passion for reading. As a child I used to read all the time. After getting married and having children my time was nonexistent. So I put a lot of things aside, including reading.
I understand the decision (too bad we didn't have a few days notice to gather whatever other books we would have liked) and I am excited for the new site.
I thought of a way to "borrow" books from eachother in the future: each user can create a dropbox account (or any other cloud storage that you preffer) and upload there and share by PM the link to that book. I keep some of my books there and it is a simple and safe way to share anything (plus if you get refferals you get more storage space, up to 16 Gb I think).

The time spent on this site has been amazing. Thank you again.

Good bye STP (ebook site). Thanks for your effort, work and time, it was fun while it lasted. I suppose the next step would be to go from door to door and stop people from burning cds, etc.  I have a friend who used to work for the graphic design and illustration department of a big publishers, she, along with many others, was made redundant with the rise of the ebook market, which hit traditional publishing very hard. Yet, unlike many authors, who are ever so quick to use new technologies to their advantage but very reluctant to accept the simultaneous migration of non-profit practices (e.g., sharing) to the very same technologies they themselves profit by, she does not troll e-published authors' pages to berate them for threatening her livelihood, her tax paying ability and the wellfare of her child. Anyway, I simply knew that the opt-out list wouldn't appease any of the authors or publishers, and that the days of this rather nice little niche were numbered. A big thanks to the administrators and moderators, and to a great many (not all) STP members: newbies, friends, addicts, heroes, super heroes, for the many hours of pleasure your free sharing, posting, commenting, synopsis writing and suggestions gave me.

So long

sounds as a great idea to me, is it feasible?

so what i still do get is: when this site will open up? and will it be possible to share ebooks?

suggestion: maybe you could think of a way by which we users can exchange ebooks privately....so without posting them on the web site....

Im interested in that. I want to have an online storage too. I store my ebooks in an external hard drive but i want to have a back up. And other sites like 4shared, etc right now, aren't too reliable for me to upload on them. I even lost my back-up for my thesis and other files and write ups I've work so hard for in college there.  :( [although i still have the drafts stored in another email account]. Ill be really grateful if you can share your ideas with me. You could PM here. I'm still roaming around inside STP, reading discussion threads.  ^-^

Hi I read your suggestion to find a way to exchange books...the only way i can think of is to make a list of the books we have and than if someone has ebooks we want, exchange them privately through emails or posting them on sites like epubbub as this site has not all the books i want ....what do you think?

Possibly feasible? [yeah, there's a question mark because I'm wary about the email exchanges]. Even the mods in STP does not encourage that thing. Although, there are some site which allows you to upload large files and then serve as your email server, meaning they will be the one to send the link to the person. or you can just get the link and PM the info through PM option by STP. The disadvantage there is that the site can only host the file you upload for a certain time.

Hi chey,
I'm also new to this site and i only got to download a couple of books before this happened, i was thinking if we could get the names of members whose books we were looking to download and then pm them, asking to mail it to us?
I looked for the previous discussion threads where i had downloaded books from but they're all gone. :(
i was so excited when i found this site. please count me in, in case you guys figure out a way to continue sharing of books.

Wow. That was abrupt. Could've warned us like 2 weeks in advance or something before you purged every ebook sharing posts, links etc. At least give us a chance to grab what we can.  :(

Please count me in for whatever ebook-sharing you guys can come up with. I have some collections on my end too that I would love to share.

I know how you feel. I was even online when the Notice was posted and was truly appalled by what happened. The admin can't possibly put a two weeks before notice because of the harsh DMCA takedown. They will be facing charges and lots of penalties if they didn't move fast. STP isn't like those torrent sites like demonoid and piratebay.se. As other people have posted, this is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Here is what I was thinking (but I would like a mod to tell us if it's feasable);

We create dropbox/the box/any other cloud storage option. On the stp website (or whaterer the new name will be) we can post a list of ebooks we have to share. Then the requests can be made by pm and the link to the document or an email with it can be sent to whoever want to read it.

I would still like to remain on the same website, after all this where we all came together and I'm sure there are even friendships created here. The ideea of migrating to another website who might allow booksharing is not very loyal to the people who created the website and offered us so many beautiful books.
